CNN doesn’t cover a lot of bake sales, but one in California is getting plenty of media attention.

Half-baked? You decide. (from CNN)
A Republican student group at the University of California at Berkeley (that felt weird to type) is selling cookies and brownies, but the price of the baked goods is based on gender and race.
White men pay the most. Native American women eat free. The price list is in the photo.
The stunt is meant to be racist, discriminatory and get attention, organizers say.
Mission accomplished.
The Republican group is upset that the university, like most government agencies, uses gender and race to determine who gets admitted or hired, reports CNN.
Berkeley’s student government has “condemned” the “use of discrimination whether it is in satire or in seriousness by any student group.”
Proceeds from the sale will go to charity.
The unanswered question? Are those brownies any good? And are they packing the mystery ingredient beloved by 1960s Berkeley protesters?
Probably not. Conservative hash brownies would be news.

I just bought a Shirt that talks about “Homeland Security”…..that has a picture of Apache Indians sitting on their horses with the rifles raised.
Can you imagine if they were at “Plymouth Rock” when the Pilgrims arrived ? Where would we be today ? Of course, we would have still offered them blankets to keep warm (if you don’t know what this last statement means you need to catch up on your history)

Maybe this would work: If all high paid workers refused to be paid no more the lowest paid, the income gap would disappear. No more disparity and everyone lives happily ever after; just like in the movies.

This is blown all out ot perspective. This bake sale is a statement about the inequality of affirmative action. All students in state students should pay the same $ and out of state/country $$$. But when we look at where this is an issue is the left coast and the redistribution of wealth syndrome.

Also unsaid in this version of the article is the fact that this Bake Sale is based off of Berkeley’s own admission policy which grants special consideration to various minorities. All the student Republicans have done is put the school’s admission policy into something that can be applied in everyday terms that others would understand but also point out the hypocrisy of the administration. So granting admission based on gender or race is ok but selling brownies based on the same criteria is not.
