Obama’s Twitter plan backfires

“Build it and they will come,” but they may also trash the place, is an accurate axiom for anything online, President Barack Obama is learning.

AttackWatch.com seems to do plenty of attacking itself.

AttackWatch.com seems to do plenty of attacking itself.

The president, whose campaign launched a website to track and rebuff anti-Obama attacks, encouraged his supporters to take it to the Tweets with an #attackwatch hashtag, but the Twitterverse is comprised of a much more politically diverse, and perhaps cruel, crowd than the last time he ran for office.

The hashtag has been taken over by comedians who seem content to mock and ridicule, says a Wall Street Journal blog.

Those with a conservative bent have been drawn to the hashtag as though it were a tax-and-spend flame:

@Drill_Thrawl Hey Kids, are mommy and daddy talking bad about Obama? Be sure to report them at #attackwatch #1984

@gregmcrc … check this=9% unemployment, no green jobs, 49 million uninsured, 1 in 6 Americans in poverty

#AttackWatch If you want to really upset a megalomaniacal wannabe dictator, just mock him via social media.

@bonnie1b: Jobless claims jump to 448,000 #attackwatch

Jimmy Carter must be feeling good knowing he’s no longer the worst president in U.S. history. #attackwatch

AttackWatch.com is similar to a “Fight The Smears” site Obama unleashed during his 2008 campaign, says The International Business Times, which says the new site has “become a laughingstock.”

Conservative talk show hosts are getting in on the act, including Neal Boortz (aka @talkmaster):

@attackwatch, you can tell me just how much money Obama thinks I should make. Don’t want to exceed his limit, you understand.

I don’t claim to be an expert on politics, but “control the message” has to be a basic tenet of campaigning. Unleashing the #attackwatch hashtag on an embittered public doesn’t seem wise.

I speak from experience, just read the comments below. :)

One of the strengths of our country is that we are, at our core, mainstream and transparent. Any radical or paranoid tendencies of those in power will eventually be exposed no matter how they are spun by the media and by the administration. (see Nixon, R.) That’s what you are seeing as more of the Obama agenda becomes apparent. This is the real Obama, and he actually is as scary as we thought four years ago.

You do remember 9/11, yes? We just had a 10 year anniversary. You know, planes crashing into buildings, buildings collapsing, that whole bit. Look up the plane crashes on YouTube. Watch the people jumping from the Twin Towers and hitting the cold concrete below because they didn’t want to burn. That is why we went to war. At least Bush isn’t apologizing for America. He stood up and said, “Never again.”

SRE,
Did you also ask yourself why tower # 7 fell? I didn’t see a plane hit that building did you? You believe that an office fire can bring down an entire skyscraper?

kgray and reality = really dumb libtards

The bank crisis was caused no by Bush. It was cause by stupid loans backed by Fannie Mae. In 2004 Bush warned of this crisis (look it up) and was blocked by Dodd and Frank. In 2009 Dodd and Frank came out with a banking reform act tha included everyone BUT Fannie and freddie.

The economy has recession, the problem is govt thinking they can solve it by spending. Govtsjob in terms of the economy is to be a stewart that guides it….not controls it. That trillkion dollar stimulus was nothing more then a slush fund.

The taxation of th wealthy is a joke. lets continue to tax the hand that feeds us. How about reducing spending. What has increased moe in the past 3 years? Spending or revenues. Uhh spending. 8 trillion dollars in increased deficit. Its not a revenue problem libtards….its a spending problem.

How dumb ar eyou people blaming Bush…so narrow minded its really a shame.

You know, I’m unemployed & have been for 8mths. I don’t blame President Obama for the worlds short comings b/c we were headed that way with the Bush Administration. He provided monies for jobs to be created, but the republicans chose to hold on to the money & jobs until they think that they will take office in 2012 & then ALL the JOBS will be created under their so called watchful eye and then they will claim that they did this great job for our country. When honestly, they really don’t give a damn about anyone but themselves. They want him to fail b/c is is BLACK & trying to help the COUNTRY, not just his OWN!
