Obama’s Twitter plan backfires

“Build it and they will come,” but they may also trash the place, is an accurate axiom for anything online, President Barack Obama is learning.

AttackWatch.com seems to do plenty of attacking itself.

AttackWatch.com seems to do plenty of attacking itself.

The president, whose campaign launched a website to track and rebuff anti-Obama attacks, encouraged his supporters to take it to the Tweets with an #attackwatch hashtag, but the Twitterverse is comprised of a much more politically diverse, and perhaps cruel, crowd than the last time he ran for office.

The hashtag has been taken over by comedians who seem content to mock and ridicule, says a Wall Street Journal blog.

Those with a conservative bent have been drawn to the hashtag as though it were a tax-and-spend flame:

@Drill_Thrawl Hey Kids, are mommy and daddy talking bad about Obama? Be sure to report them at #attackwatch #1984

@gregmcrc … check this=9% unemployment, no green jobs, 49 million uninsured, 1 in 6 Americans in poverty

#AttackWatch If you want to really upset a megalomaniacal wannabe dictator, just mock him via social media.

@bonnie1b: Jobless claims jump to 448,000 #attackwatch

Jimmy Carter must be feeling good knowing he’s no longer the worst president in U.S. history. #attackwatch

AttackWatch.com is similar to a “Fight The Smears” site Obama unleashed during his 2008 campaign, says The International Business Times, which says the new site has “become a laughingstock.”

Conservative talk show hosts are getting in on the act, including Neal Boortz (aka @talkmaster):

@attackwatch, you can tell me just how much money Obama thinks I should make. Don’t want to exceed his limit, you understand.

I don’t claim to be an expert on politics, but “control the message” has to be a basic tenet of campaigning. Unleashing the #attackwatch hashtag on an embittered public doesn’t seem wise.

I speak from experience, just read the comments below. :)

The funny thing is most libtards will continue to vote for this moron despite the worst numbers of any president since Carter. I mean 95% blacks voted for him and 95% will vote for him again. Can you say marginalized?

This buttthole has vacationed the globe while his wife has had 3 times as many handlers as the last first lady. Libtards get ready for Rick Perry and Marco Rubio in 2012.

I never really realized that is the same crazy people who call into talk shows and rant and rave who post on these news sites. It’s insane how cruel people can be behind a computer. That said, Come on Barak, you can’t give us material that easy to work with, and ask us not to broadside you with it like a 2 X 4. What’s the fun in that?

Well he isn’t doing as bad as the previous IDIOT we had for a President, who started a war with LIES at the cost of 1 billion per month. I guess that’s okay for our children and grandchildren to repay,as long as it was for a good cause like a war.

It makes me sick to my stomach the negative comments targeting our President. It isn’t just that they are negative, they are nothing more than ’sound bites’ with no substance and no supporting evidence. Mostly, they are generalizations spouting an overall opinion by someone that probably got that opinion from Rush or Bortz or the like.

Any rational person with even an average IQ could recognize the details of the last couple of years.

Economy: Yep, the economy has been in the crapper. Why? We are still having to figure out how to get of the Bush mess. “You are just blaming Bush,” you say? Yes. The economy disaster was CREATED during the Bush terms. It took EIGHT years to make this mess. Why would anyone think it would be fixed in only a few years?

Jobs: First, see “Economy” above. The only thing a President can really do is create government jobs. But, if that’s done, the conservative idiots cry, “but you enlarge the government!” So, it is a no win situation for the President.

Taxes: The President did try to get the most wealthy to pay their fair share. This would help with the economy (at least the federal debt). However, the idiot tea party republicans block this at every turn.

And, there are more issues that need to be looked at from an OBJECTIVE perspective. Remember, for now Obama is STILL OUR PRESIDENT. And, he deserves the respect of that office at the very least!!!!!

Every idea Barry the magnificent has sounds good in his head, but somehow ends up hitting the fan…and yes, his ideas smell exactly like the material that hits said fan…with each passing day, his presidency is becoming worse and worse. 1-termer indeed…

Not specifically no…I was referencing a lot of us on this site who leave posts from time to time. The writers on this site know they’re going to get torn to shreds by us most of the time no matter what they post because people can. Free speech all day long, I’m just saying Obama’s presidency has been great fodder for everyone to zing him.
