Sesame Street denizens Bert & Ernie are just friends, according to an anonymous spokesman for the eternal children’s program, and will not be getting married.

Pals.
“Bert and Ernie are best friends. They were created to teach preschoolers that people can be good friends with those who are very different from themselves. Even though they are identified as male characters and possess many human traits and characteristics … they remain puppets, and do not have a sexual orientation,” said Sesame Street on its Facebook page Thursday.
The statement was made in response to an online petition calling for Bert and Ernie to get married.
Bert and Ernie could not be reached for comment because they are not people.

SERIOUSLY?! I’m cracking up at this! I loved Sesame Street as a kid and Bert and Ernie were favorites. Never in a million years, even as my children have watched more recently, would it have occurred to me to question their “sexual orientation.” This is as silly as folks claiming that the Teletubbies were gay! People need to get a grip!!

WTH? Really, these are innocent children that will be influenced by this madness. The world is truly coming to an end. The gay and lesbian population seems to think their lifestyle should be a part of everything. Well it shouldn’t be. What you do on your own time is your business. Don’t try to inject it into everything. You got your wish to be married in some states. You got your wish to repeal don’t ask don’t tell. Sit down somewhere already. Parents, we have to be more diligent in monitoring what our kids watch because this Bert and Ernie marriage situation will eventually happen. . . .

Come on people!!!! This is crazy that someone would even think of doing something like this. Have you not heard of the “Odd Couple” two men that lived together and were friends and roommates. Nothing more, Nothing less. I can tell you that if the television starts to teach our children about sexual orientation or even how to treat people of different orientations, than we are in trouble. Teaching starts at home!! Maybe if the parents teach their little ones how to teach other that may or may not be like them, this world wouldn’t be so damn crazy. Get it together people… What a sad world we live in!!!

Me:
I teach my children about people who have differences they can’t control. Gay, lesbian and transgender is a lifestyle choice, not an uncontrolled difference. And I will not teach my children that gay, lesbian and trangender is okay.
