What does UGA have in common with Harvard and Princeton?

Brooks Brothers clearly enjoys a challenge.
That’s not the the beginning of a joke, though I’m sure Tech fans will calculate a clever punchline.
According to Bloomberg business wire, Brooks Brothers, the alleged “oldest” and probably “stuffiest” men’s clothier chain in the U.S., has deemed UGA worthy of its first attempt at licensed college merchandise.
Fifteen schools made the cut, and a few of them don’t even have decent football teams. Brooks Brothers included a string of Southern schools because, according to the Bloomberg article, men here like to “wear ties” to football games.
We also like to stick bottles of Jack Daniels in our boots, so hopefully the distillery and Tony Lama will call soon.
The Bloomberg article says college sports fans spend more money than followers of any pro sport. It’s a good thing we’ve got the NCAA around to keep the sins of cash away from student-athletes.
Gawker, in a factually-challenged attempt at humor, says Brooks Brothers has “inadvertently revealed America’s whitest colleges.”
That can’t be true; but I’ll let you decide.
Here’s the complete list:
* Alabama
* Auburn
* Boston College
* Cornell
* Georgia
* Georgetown
* Harvard
* Notre Dame
* NYU
* Ohio State
* Princeton
* Stanford
* U.S. Naval Academy
* Vanderbilt
* Virginia

Congrats UGA…..you won a Worst Dressed For Football award. Oh, and tell those UGA “women” to stop dressing up like it’s prom for football games. Armpit stains and sweat marks don’t look good on a dress that magnifies your gut.
And go get haircuts, for the love of god!

Leave it to a Nerd blogger at 7:02 to try and bash the hottest women anywhere on a football Saturday! You, my friend, are either a pimple faced loser or got rejected by a UGA coed.

I have to admit that the botton down (with tie optional) and red khakis at the games looks stupid. But then again the Jersey Shore types are equally as bad.

I’m glad UGA made the list. Their fans dress a heck of a lot better than many other schools’ fans. It’s to each his own.

Brilliant business move by Brooks Brothers – I’d make all the red and black stuff I could – those guys will buy anything!
And yes, the tie wearing, penny loafer sans socks, bieber hairdo frat boys are hilarious – but they’re like that any any school.
Look at that list of schools: Auburn, Alabama, Georgia, Stanford, Ohio State – all huge and rabid fan bases – and then you’ve got the Ivy’s and UVA/Vandy types – super preppy tools already shopping at Brooks Brothers…makes sense to me.

I think it’s rather incorrect to call that stupid haircut the “bieber” haircut or whatever. Frat dogs have long been wearing their hair like, well before beiber was conceived. I also imagine they will be wearing it like that well after he dies, as well.

I do not understand how Notre Dame made that list unless they are rolling out a parka line. NO one wears a tie or khakis to football games in South Bend, it’s a jeans and t-shirt or sweatshirt crowd.
I never laughed so hard as I did when I first moved here and went to an Alabama game.
Those Bama Bangs wearing frat boys were hysterical.

This has more to do with UGA’s deal with IMG as their athletic department’s representation than it does Brooks Brothers trying to pick the “15 whitest schools in America.” BB did the deal with IMG, not the individual schools. Hence Yale doesn’t make it while Harvard does, UGA is on the list while Ole Miss isn’t, etc.
Still going to get some gear. Graduating from the school should probably mean graduating from the jersey…

The athletic history of UGA is full of so many sordid, sleazy incidents – dating back to Vince Dooley and continuing through Mark Richt – that it’s impossible to overlook. The school has come to stand for drunkenness and lawlessness, coddling of illiterate athletes who should never have been admitted to college, and rampant cheating by coaches.
Oh, and preppiness, I forgot that.

I have gone to a lot of games in Sanford and noticed:
1) Why the boys wear shirt and tie in a football game.
2) Why the girls wear black pajama gowns.
3) Why #1 and #2 continue to do this when it’s 90+ degrees in the stadium and sweat profusely.

Looking your best on a Saturday in the Fall is a privilege. I will take my button down, colored pants, loafers, and tie when I was in school over any outfit any day. You can’t sit there and tell me a ragid t-shirt, jersey you could fit three people in, or a shirt with skulls, dragons, Tapout, or Affliction on it looks any better. Most people get jealous because women loved well dressed men, and they are the ones with all the women around them on campus on a Saturday. Ole Miss definitely deserves to be on this list. Dressing up and looking nice for a football game is a way of life in the South, and it’s a hell of a lot better than wearing a baggy outfit with your pants below your ass and stealing or dealing drugs.

As a Monetary Alumni Member since 2000 (UGAAA) and season ticket holder for football the student body is a class ACT on GAMEDAY with oxford shirts and team color ties and the women with their RED BLOODED dresses only show how classy we really are at UGA. The dress depicts a touch of CLASSIC but REVEERED taste of the SOUTH which can only be described as styling and profiling!

First off, George, Brooks Brothers was founded in 1818. I think you can take the quotes off “oldest.”
The entire tone of this article makes you look sound the guy who wears shorts and flip-flops to a job interview and thinks he didn’t get the job because he was competing against a chick with big boobs.
And as a genuine prep (same high school as Matt Ryan), who did attend UGA, I can say that the uncomfortable guy in the chair a) looks like he lied about his pants size and is now regretting it; b) wasn’t told the rule about how black shoes and socks with beige pants makes you look like Mickey Mouse; and c) doesn’t read Dilbert.
