Bride arrested for abusing husband

Love often doesn’t last, but rarely does it go foul as quickly as it did with a Florida bride accused of abusing her husband.

How many honeymoons involve handcuffs AND police?

How many honeymoons involve handcuffs AND police?

Bernadette Catan-Keeler, 30, was charged with domestic violence battery after her new hubby told police she bit him at a hotel and then later at their home in Lighthouse Point, Fla., the Orlando Sentinel reports.

Where did love go wrong? According to the article, the newlyweds were at their reception at a Ft. Lauderdale club Saturday night when the groom, Mike Keeler, spotted his  wife dancing with another man.

Keeler told police he went to their honeymoon suite at the W hotel, followed shortly by his wife, who was allegedly drunk. Catan-Keeler allegedly got into a scrum with her husband, biting him.

Mike Keeler retreated to their home, but she again followed him and ripped off his shirt, threw water and bit him, which may be some sort of mating ritual I’ve not heard about.

She was carted off to jail on domestic violence charges. Her husband pleaded for leniency before a judge, saying his wife may have been partying with “a substance” that altered her state of mind.

Broward County Judge John “Jay” Hurley set bond at $4,500 and ordered Catan-Keeler to stay away from alcohol and her husband, according to the Sentinel article.

“For newlyweds, this is not starting things off on the right foot, for sure,” Hurley said in the Sentinel. “I hope this is a small bump in the road and you two can iron it all out and have a nice long life together.”

Or, look for another judge to grant an annulment. Your call, Mr. Keeler.

It only takes one time to know if someone is abusive or not. Regardless of the fact that she is a woman the signs are there GET OUT WHILE YOU CAN! DON’T BECOME A VICTIM FOR NOONE!

INDI,

Jump the gun, much? Relax. This could easily be a one-time alcohol infused moment. One instance of abuse does not mean one is an abuser. That’s absurd.

If it walks like a duck and it quacks like a duck then it is a duck. People don’t just become violent because they have been drinking. Alcohol makes mean people meaner. I say if he is going to keep her then he needs to keep the liquor locked up tight.

Hmmmm, based on the description…. there are a LOT of people that would simply consider that foreplay. Nothing described sounds like abuse…. but maybe that’s just MY interpretation.

get an annulment and stay single! Plenty of women that don’t want that marriage noose around them either!

Kevin, with all due respect, you obviously don’t know what the hell you’re talking about. You sound like an abused spouse in denial…they beat your azz once, they’re going to beat it again. And that’s been proven….and James, if that’s all you had to say…..save it next time!
