Forget global warming, ‘Little Ice Age’ to begin in 10 years

According to the pocket-protector crowd at the annual meeting of the solar physics division of the American Astronomical Society, the sun, due to reduced sunspot activity, is going to be a bit cooler soon.
When? Maybe as soon as 2021, or never.
How much cooler will the Earth get if sunspot activity decreases? No one knows exactly, but probably a fraction of a degree Celsius, which probably isn’t enough to lure another NHL franchise to Atlanta.
But, the last time such a thing happened, in the late 17th Century, the good folks of London were ice skating on the Thames and villages in the Swiss Alps were destroyed by expanding glaciers.
Wired Magazine throws ice water on the heated discussion with this exciting headline: Sunspot Drop Won’t Cause Global Cooling
At most, reduced sunspots will offset rising global temperatures for a few years, perhaps a couple decades, said NASA climatologist David Rind in the Wired article.
“To point to this as something that could in any way ameliorate greenhouse gas warming is folly,” said climatologist Michael Mann of Penn State University.
I guess I’ll keep the snow skis in the attic.

Yep, the South sure shows it’s true idiotic colors again and again and again and again.
95% of climate scientists point to the multitudes of evidence that CO2, caused by man, is warming the planet, yet you uneducated buffoons keep blathering about nonsense. I’m glad you’re not running this country.

Steve….the only nonsense is the claim of global warming or is it now “climate change”. Simply the case that you feel that Obozo is not a “baffoon” proves your intelligence to us all. Thanks for posting.

@obersver is absolutely correct! Man isn’t affecting the environment and can’t stop it from changing either. Weather follows cycles and patterns and we’re just along for the ride.

@Steve. Uneducated? 2 college degrees and professional degree here, but it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand that man can’t affect weather! I would also check your percentages again too….more and more scientists believe the global warming scare was a hoax too.

Observer — global warming is accepted by almost all scientists, by every national science academy in the world, and by every scientific organization. A “farce”? Then so is the earth being round and matter composed of atoms.
Ezra: Global warming has nothing to do with dust and smoke; in fact, these counter global warming/
Southern Man: The earth has never had this much CO2, or been this hot, since humans have been on it. I don’t know about you, but I’m concerned about human civilization surviving, not the rocks.

What a crock of **** study/poll that is. First, it doesn’t say who the scientists are. They could be scientists at Exxon for all we know. And here is YOUR statistic which debunks your whole premise: “…only 32 papers (6%) reject the consensus outright…”
6% of your scientists say it is not happening!!! The others say it is or may be.
You need to learn how to not only read, but analyze and comprehend.

UGA 1999, I don’t worship “Barry”. But Barack Obama is the president of my country. And whether or not you support him, you should respect the office he holds. Or are you just a racist who would never support someone who doesn’t have the same skin color as you? And I hope that you’re not a 1999 grad of UGA. If so, we need to raise the stardards of the university. “Get off your needs”! And what happens when the US runs out of oil? Would it not be more intelligent to develop other sources that are cleaner and more abundant?

Politically….respecting the office and not bowing down to him is totally different. I respect the office but I cannot respect the damage he is doing to our country.
