Man found living atop Georgia Waffle House

Some people eat at the Waffle House so much it feels like home.

Friendly waitresses only add to the charm.

The first Waffle House is now a museum in Avondale Estates.

But there’s no denying the popular roadside eateries are also weirdo magnets.

Something wacky can happen at any minute. Kid Rock may be throwing punches, or cooking up grub while meeting and greeting local fans. Or maybe a famed tiny outlaw is doing his “Little Houdini” impersonation and slipping away from a hungry deputy.

In Augusta Tuesday, an air conditioner repairman found a man living atop a Gordon Highway location in what was described as a temporary shelter, according to Augusta’s ABC station.

Waffle House managers aren’t allowed to talk about the incident, and firefighters called to the scene to pluck him off the roof didn’t identify the man or know how long he was up there.

The rooftop denizen was taken to a local hospital for dehydration. It’s a good thing too, it’s going to be hotter than a Texas Melt today.

The state of Texas should Free Willie Nelson and Pardon him for his sins with the wacky weed.

Brenda,

You really come off as one extremely, arrogant, pompous, jerk. It is obvious, you have no idea of the outreach programs the ‘megachurches’ are taking part in. I DO know how you can find out though. GO JOIN ONE!!!! and become a part of the solution instead of being so insolent.

For Paul:
Do we really help the unfortunate by just handing them EVERYTHING they need on an indefinite basis? Assistance and hand-outs are not intended to be a cure all. They are meant as a temporary solution until a person can be taught how to go about getting on his feet, i.e. arming him with the knowledge necessary how and where to find work, directing him to available shelters until he IS on his feet, providing him food & clothes, etc. It is not the church’s job to house homeless inside the church building. Many churches build separate facilities for just that reason. I have witnessed first hand just what the down and out can do to a facility. They have no respect for others’ property because they don’t have an investment in it. They can destroy the interior of a building in 3 days. That is not a personal attack. Much of what you and other critics like to spout is not factual. You are just repeating something you have heard. You have no first-hand knowledge of what you say. How do I know that? Because I know the facts first-hand. If you really want to find out, go join any church’s effort to help the homeless. Be a part of the solution instead of the whiners on the sidelines. Be a man. Just do it. I dare ya. You will be surprised how good it can make you feel knowing you are really helping these unfortunate people. Also, keep in mind, many of these people are here by choice and decide they don’t want a job or any responsibility no matter how much you might want to help them.

I’m of two minds about this. Do I make fun of him? Sympathize with him? Ridicule? Sympathize? Ridicule? Sympathize?
