Police (Off)Beat | Cop pays $8 for ‘Gorilla Orgy’

  • An undercover Atlanta police officer reported he was able to buy an $8 mixed drink called a “Gorilla Orgy” from an unlicensed “rave” bar on Permalume Place. Other drinks for sale cannot be named in a family newspaper, but that didn’t stop the officer from spending $78 on them.
  • A man told Atlanta police his sister-in-law dropped her three kids off at his house the day after he got married. He thought it was unusual because he never speaks to the woman. Three hours after being dropped off the kids called their mom and asked where she was. She showed back up at the house, began waving a gun around and cursing at her children. She was screaming “[Bleep] ya’ll, I’ll kill all of ya’ll,” at the kids as she drove off.

  • Flying the friendly skies isn’t cheap, which may explain why an Atlanta woman agreed to give “two strangers” she met near Turner Field $500 for a Delta buddy pass – a highly discounted standby ticket for friends and family of airline employees. The men drove her to the airport and one of the men went to the Delta ticketing area and quickly returned with a ticket. When she tried to board a plane she learned the paperwork was only a reservation.
  • Comedian Steve Harvey reported a sack of cash containing $10,000 was stolen from his Piedmont Road offices by a college intern. The student later sent the supervisor a text message stating, “I am gonna get him the money just so I can end this,” according to police. The 22-year-old has not been seen since and has withdrawn from Clayton State.
  • An Acworth woman returned to her home from a weeklong vacation to find her lingerie spread across her bed alongside a bottle of lotion.
  • A Conyers police officer quit after an investigation revealed he showed nude photos of women on his cellphone to a 16-year-old female ‘Explorer’ in his charge.
  • An employee of CNN told police someone is harassing her by signing her up for magazines. She received copies of Star, Foreign Affairs, Men’s Health, Muscle & Fitness, Jet, Hobby Farm Home and Ebony in the month of March.
  • A 31-year-old Lawrenceville woman told police a man she doesn’t know keeps sending her unwanted text messages. The messages sent by “Horace” included “Hey baby how’s your sexy body,” “I saw your picture and thought you were hot,” and “If you text me I will come find you.”
  • A Powder Springs home was robbed of a fish tank and Salem cigarettes.
  • A 17-year-old Buford High School student was jailed on Peeping Tom charges after he was spotted sitting on the roof of a house and looking into a 12-year-old girl’s window.
  • A man in camouflage entered a Cobb Parkway business at night and tried to open the safe, but let without stealing anything.
