Not every profession needs to be represented at school career day.
Nothing says sexy like a bag full of toxic material.
Parents in Henrico, Va., a suburb of Richmond, are upset a plastic surgeon let elementary school students feel a breast implant during his presentation, according to NBC affiliate WWBT.
“Career day sure isn’t what it once was,” said one parent.
You’d think some little boys are saying the same thing, but the kids said the local plastic surgeon attends career day every year and is very informative.
The plastic surgeon did not return the reporter’s phone calls.
Call me crazy, but maybe a dietitian would be a better influence on today’s kids than a man who believes most women need a bigger bra.

You should see the presentation when it’s the gynecologist’s turn.

George,
Unfortunately, many people such as yourself see the ‘artificial breast’ as you call it as a symbol of vanity. Have you ever considered that a plastic surgeon uses these same implants on women who have had maesectomies? Did it ever occur to you that just maybe one of these kids’ mother maybe be suffering from breast cancer and would need the help of the doctor to feel ‘complete’ again?

Adam – Less than 20 percent of breast augmentation is for the reasons you allude to. And perhaps parents or therapists are more qualified to speak to children on the topic of family cancer than a plastic surgeon.

It doesn’t matter what the reason is for the fake breasts, when you’ve got the implant in your hands all you can think about are womens’ breasts.

LOL!@Old Geezer…Just wait until a porn star shows up for career day, or better yet, just wait until she comes back for her implants!!!!

George, Adam called it out correctly as the whole concept of breast reconstruction was (and still is for many) even for breast cancer surviors was kind of a hush, hush deal. It is the ignorant attitudes that you are conveying that discourage a healthy discussion on this topic.
Since my wife has had breast cancer this year, we have been appalled at the increadibly poor reconstruction surgery treatment offered in Atlanta and downright dumbfounded at how poorly informed most of the other patients are about this remedy. Evidently Atlantans continue to try and present the old southern modesty front, even though it is more a cover for prudishness and abject ignorance.
Grow up and recognize that the other 80% modern women have a right to choose implants without your silly poo-pooing.

George- I think the question the parents should be asking is who contacts these professionals to participate in career day? Does the teacher invite this Doctor back every year because he is very informative and the kids enjoy listening to him? Does the PTA contact this man to participate year after year? Maybe we should be calling the school to ask these questions instead of bothering the Doctor at work, who volunteers his time away from his practice to speak with these children.

Perhaps they could attract a newspaper reporter to talk the children about what it is like to work in a dying industry. I wonder what it feels like to be a dinosaur? Say wait a minute, dinosaurs, now that might be of interest to the students.
