Obama first to brew beer in White House
President Barack Obama, all politics aside, is a trail blazer.
President Obama has been known to drink a beer while campaigning or during high-profile meetings.
Not only has he read every Harry Potter book, but he is the first president to have beer brewed in the White House.
The blog Obama Foodorama reported this week that the 44th president served homemade ”White House Honey Ale” at a Super Bowl party in January. The beer was brewed in the White House.
The honey came from Michelle Obama’s garden beehive, another White House first. About 100 12-ounce bottles were served and all were gone by the end of the party.
The Foodorama article says Obama is the first president since George Washington to homebrew beer, and since Washington never lived in the White House, Obama (or his chef) is the first to stew up a hoppy concoction at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
The White House will release the recipe after a few tweaks.
The 39th president, Georgia’s Jimmy Carter, who has a library within walking distance of Manuel’s Tavern, signed the bill into law that removed the federal restriction of home brewing.
Obama is a renowned drinker of beer at high profile meetings. We need to send that man a case of Atlanta-made SweetWater, seeing the leader of the free world drink foreign-owned Budweiser is damaging to our national psyche.

They actually sent him a case of the Georgia Brown Ale for the beer summit he had with that cop. I believe he sent them a thank you note for the gesture.

When I get my check, my boss doesn’t get to tell me how to spend it. As a tax payer, you don’t get to decide how he spends his salary either. Unless you know for sure that this is provided by ACTUAL tax dollars and not his own money, stuff it.

I wonder how much the hive, the culttivations, the harvesting, the expertise, the manufacturing and all the rest of the hoopla has set the AMERICAN people back this time. I just want to throw up. From spending spree jaunts across the pond to our very own WH Microbrewery! I just love where this is going, don’t you?!
