The Los Angeles Times has a photo that is supposedly Duchess Catherine’s favorite shot of Prince George from their trip to Australia and New Zealand.
“A snapshot taken by professional photographer Simon Woolf, also a councillor in New Zealand’s Wellington City, was the best of the bunch, he recently told reporters. …
“She said it was just lovely and that it was her favorite photo of the tour,” Woolf told reporters (via E! News). The photographer said he gave the duchess a black-and-white version of the shot when the family left New Zealand. He plans to send framed versions to George’s grandfather, Prince Charles, and his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, according to Hello….
“Woolf was the official New Zealand government photographer, People reported, so he was allowed at each event the royals attended during the nine-day leg of their spring tour. The young prince is said to have just woken up from a nap before the photo was taken –just prior to when other photographers and reporters got access to the trio.
“He just raised his head, smiled and dropped his head back on Princess Catherine’s shoulder. And I just got that shot. It was only one shot,” he told the magazine. “That photo represented the lovely closeness of the family. I was so totally reassured that it is a great relationship.”
I like the shot for two reasons: I love how he is holding her. He is clutching on to her tightly with his little hand and you can tell that he feels safe and loved and that he loves her. I also love his eyes. He looks happy.
It made me think about my favorite shots of my children. My favorite shot of my youngest was taken in a photography studio. She was around three-months old and had rolled herself around in her favorite pink blankie (which is still with us today). She is sucking her thumb and clutching the blankie. She still loves that blankie. The color pink just reflects so beautifully on her face.
My favorite baby shot of my son was taken at our home. Former AJC news photographer Parker Smith, who now shoots the most beautiful baby and wedding photos, came to our house to shoot the kids. Walsh was only two months old and he was lying on his crib blanket on the floor. He pushed his chest up and was looking straight into the camera. He just looks so curious and strong.
My favorite shot of Rose was when she was 2 and baby brother had just arrived. It was taken by my brother-in-law out back of our first house. She had on a pink and red dress and was holding her bounty of grape tomatoes that she had just harvested. The colors are fantastic and her eyes are so big and wide. I framed it and keep in on our kitchen wall.
Can you see why Duchess Catherine likes that particular shot of Prince George? Do you like it? What is your favorite shot of your baby?
