I was trying to be the early bird and get ahead on making my Christmas card this year. We usually use Shutterfly for our card but I decided to check prices on multiple sites. And what I immediately noticed was a bunch of cards that looked like Instagram photos and had vintage fonts and colors. Some of the cards look like they’re from the turn of the century but the ones that surprised me look more like from the 1970s – like when I was a kid.
Minted.com called them “Vintage” cards. Shutterfly didn’t seem to classify them but had them at the top of their most popular category. I think the Shutterfly looked the most like Instagram. I am wondering I you are supposed to put your Instagram photos in or if it applies the look when you past them into the card.
It’s not just the yellowy-tinted photos that make them look vintage thought. It’s the fonts and the colors that look like Christmas throwbacks.
Here are some examples from different sites:
Do you want a retro/vintage card? Do you want it to look like an Instagram photo? Have you used vintage/retro-looking cards in the past? Do you think it’s a trend?
