The Jim Henson Company has announced via it’s Facebook page that it no longer wishes to partner with Chick-Fil-A because Henson’s company supports gay marriage.
“… on Friday, the Jim Henson Company posted the following statement to their Facebook page:”
“The Jim Henson Company has celebrated and embraced diversity and inclusiveness for over fifty years and we have notified Chick-Fil-A that we do not wish to partner with them on any future endeavors. Lisa Henson, our CEO is personally a strong supporter of gay marriage and has directed us to donate the payment we received from Chick-Fil-A to GLAAD. (http://www.glaad.org/)”
“With this, The Jim Henson Company joins the ranks of Boston Mayor Thomas Menino, who has vowed to block Chick-fil-A from opening a restaurant in the city, office star Ed Helms who tweeted that the chain had “lost a loyal fan,” and the countless individuals who have taken to social media to voice disapproval, including those planning a National Same Sex Kiss Day on August 3, in condemning the Chick-Fil-A’s CEO’s opposition to same sex marriage. “
A fan site reports that Chick-Fil-A kids meals were featuring a Jim Henson Creature Shop make-your-own puppet toy from mid July to Aug. 18th.
How do you feel about Chick-Fil-A’s stance on gay marriage? Does it influence your decision to buy your food there either way? If you are offended, it is hard to give it up? (That is some yummy chicken.) Do you think the owners should stop talking about their views?
(I know this is a polarizing issue but please try to stay polite and discuss it like adults. No name calling please.)

Wow! I just read more comments from the uneducated bigots of this country. I guess the people who commented above on condemning homosexuality and approving of those who are homosexual haters are uneducated imbeciles with brains the size of peanuts and mouths producing neurologically deficient, meaningless rhetoric.
All of you who commented in this manner probably don’t understand what I just said since you barely made it through kindergarten.

Truett Cathy his son and the Chick Fil A organization should be commended. In a day where people curtail their feelings and are politically correct and go along to get along, Chick Fil A stood on what is true and what they believe in. They haven’t discriminated against gays and lesbians. They haven’t called them derogatory names nor treated them differently than anybody else. The gay and lesbian community has to understand that just because that people don’t support your lifestyle doesn’t mean they are being judgmental or condemning. The truth is two people of the same sex are not and will not ever be considered married under the biblical defintion of marriage which is where it ultimately counts. Mr. Cathy has stood by his convictions and has stood on the word of God and look where it has gotten him. He was one of the most successful businesses in the country and giving his employees the day off on Sunday. Chick Fil A should be the model for all businesses today. Holding fast to your beliefs in spite of what society says and treating everyone with respect. All of us who know what marriage is and we stand on what the bible says should be proud that we aren’t alone in proclaming the truth. Because of this I will eat at Chick Fil A more and I encourage everyone else to support companies like Chick Fil A who have God first in what they do. Truly refreshing in today’s world.

I find most same sex marriage supporters also believe in the “theory of evolution”, not God. Kind of an oxymoron don’t ya think…? (Ok, let me break that down for you; same sex marriage cannot = procreation)!

Why is it everytime someone disagrees with the gay community, it is said we “hate” them? I don’t hate anyone, straight or gay. I simply do not agree with the gay community on several issues. I am not practicing “hate” , just because disagree. I know Chick will stand their ground, good. I know the gay community will speak out, good. This is America. Man, those sandwiches will really be good.

Let me get this right. Mr. Cathy is standing on his “Christian” principles. But if he doesn’t agree with you, you take your marbles and go home? Then I think you should go home. I am sick and tired of everyone having to give in to what the gay and lesbian community wants. Ok, get married if you wish and anything else the law will legally allow you to do. But don’t force me to like it. Don’t hate me if I don’t agree with it. Just accept my beliefs as you are trying to make me accept yours. It just seems to be a one way street with this issue. Chick fil A patrons will still stop in to eat and bring their gay friends a carry out.

And as far as infringing on people as some commenters have said. Yes they do. I know people who are friends with managers at CFA and they generally refuse to hire someone in a managerial position if they are not straight, married, preferably with kids. Christians, as a generality, are very closed minded. I mean they still believe a guy lived in a whale’s belly for crying out loud!

I say let the Muppets and whomever else wants to stop patronizing Chick Fil A because of the stand for Jesus that they have made.. I never cared for the Muppets anyway. What Chick Fil A is doing is stanidng up for “real” Christians and God’s Word and I will keep on visiting Chick Fil A and encouraging all like -minded people who cherish God’s Word to to the same. As long as they are standing up for Jesus, they and their business will flourish and may I say even exceed the profits that they are generating right now. I will just pray for these people who are insistent on trying to push the pro-gay agenda down our throats. In the end…………we win.

Stuff like this happens because of closeminded bigots like many of you.
OMAHA, Neb (Reuters) – Police in Lincoln, Nebraska, said Monday they are investigating a possible gay hate crime against a 33-year-old woman who was tied up in her home and had words sliced onto her body by three masked attackers.
The attack prompted a vigil by about 500 people in the state’s capitol Sunday.
The woman told police that three masked men entered her home in south Lincoln early Sunday morning, tied her up and carved words into her body with a knife, according to a police report. Local media reported that the words were gay slurs, but police declined to confirm this.
Police did confirm that the woman was injured and treated at a local hospital. Anti-gay graffiti was spray-painted inside the home, according to police. A fire also was set in the kitchen, but burned itself out after causing about $200 in damage, according to a police arson report.

Truett should fill proud to be persecuted for standing on his beliefs His rewards will be greater and they will have to answer for persecuting one of Gods chosen ones. I do not understand how people can stand behind anything that causes Aids and other diseases and against NORMAL human instinct. Which is to mate with the opposite sex.

I didn’t know Chik Fil A was a Christian chain, with that being said, their decision makes sense now. Discrimination.. I read the bible (unlike many of you sheep who’s just been conditioned to follow it blindly) and i must admit that that god in there is a piece of work. This god is drowing kids, (destroying the whole world), allowing satan to murder kids all to see if this job would be strong, blessed lot even after he allowed his virgin daughters to be raped, slavery is condoned, just murdering people just because he’s mad.. Why is this nutcase so mad? My thing is.. and this is someone, thing diety i’m suppose to say loves everybody? Drinking the blood and eating the body of jesus.. if this was said to be done in ANY other religion, you people would call it nuts, guess what?? I’d be concerned about what Chik fila is doing to these dead yard birds with these practices! GTHOH!!

As a mother of a gay son, I have always supported him, with PFLAG and our own special group in the country. We live outside of the metro area where the gay population is not so well known. I wonder if our chif fil a knew it employed my son as well as several other gay teenagers when they were in high school. McD’s southern chicken will have to do for me for breakfast as well as lunch. I won’t be eating at a company who is promoting anti-civil rights. That IS the issue, not marriage. People lose sight of that when they hear the words gay marriage.

This fact is lost in the conversations; that Dan did not refuse to do business with the Muppets because of their stance on Gay Marriage. The Cathy family does not insulate themselves from all that have differing beliefs from them. They purchase goods and services from all manner of vendors, whether they are Christian or not. The norm is that they (Chick-fil-A) has such a positive influence on those they come in contact with that they tend to attract like minded business partners. The same thing happens with Susan Henson and her company.
Dan simply agreed with the biblical principal of marriage. His dad has said since the founding of the company that he runs the company on biblical principles. There may be some people on the planet that are unfamiliar with CFA and their stance on biblical principles, I mean it’s only plastered on the walls of each location they have and they are closed on Sunday so their employees can worship and spend time with their families; So why is there such a reaction from the Gay and Lesbian community over Dan’s comments that are so obvious?

Good for you Kermit! It’s important for those who believe in equal rights for EVERYONE to stand up for what is right. Too many times people use Christianity as an excuse to justify and promote their own bigoted ideas. If your religious beliefs prohibit you from marrying someone of the same sex, then don’t marry someone of the same sex. If you wish to carry that belief into the corporate sphere, be prepared for those of us who believe otherwise to cut ties with you.

It’s not hate to state a belief based on Biblical principal. Either you choose to believe it or not. I don’t see where Chick-Fil-A intends to refuse service to gays. Chick-Fil-A is involved in a number of ministries that support the disadvantaged. As usual, this is political haranguing to compel change. This Christ honoring organization that also chooses not to operate on Sunday is motivated by love not hate.

As long as one doesn’t violate the rights of another no one should care what two consenting adults do. Frankly, I’d wager DIVORCE has done much more harm to individuals (see children) than gay marriage. Also, why is the government even involved in this RELIGIOUS ceremony (what about that separation folks love to claim).
With that being said, I’m humored again by the Gay Marriage supporters who are mad at CFA for being “intolerant” and discriminatory of gay marriage as they are being very intolerant and discriminatory of CFA’s choice.
CFA doesn’t discriminate – get over it Progs and knock the chip off your shoulder while you are at it.

If you say you are never going to eat at Chick-fil-a again because of this then you never should of started eating there in the first place. Geez from the 1st time you ever heard of the Cathys and the business being closed on Sundays you should of known what to expect. You can’t be that stupid!
Don’t think your fav Chinese restaurant or your corner laundry that just opens the drawer and drops your check or cash in isn’t punching it in because it is quicker. No they arent paying taxes. Tell me as an adult you never noticed that. But yet you still go there and contribuate to a criminal operation! So all you virtuous Americans get off your soap boxes. You make a choice go where you want based on what you get in return Half the anti chick folks will be back eating there(or going to the drive thru) in 6 months.
I am not against civil unions everyone should get that chance of such highs and lows it really brings out the best most of the time in the human spirit. It is all about choice except in health care.
