Henson Company breaks off relationship with Chick-Fil-A over gay marriage stance

The Jim Henson Company has announced via it’s Facebook page that it no longer wishes to partner with Chick-Fil-A because Henson’s company supports gay marriage.

The Huffington Post:

“… on Friday, the Jim Henson Company posted the following statement to their Facebook page:”

“The Jim Henson Company has celebrated and embraced diversity and inclusiveness for over fifty years and we have notified Chick-Fil-A that we do not wish to partner with them on any future endeavors. Lisa Henson, our CEO is personally a strong supporter of gay marriage and has directed us to donate the payment we received from Chick-Fil-A to GLAAD. (http://www.glaad.org/)”

“With this, The Jim Henson Company joins the ranks of Boston Mayor Thomas Menino, who has vowed to block Chick-fil-A from opening a restaurant in the city, office star Ed Helms who tweeted that the chain had “lost a loyal fan,” and the countless individuals who have taken to social media to voice disapproval, including those planning a National Same Sex Kiss Day on August 3, in condemning the Chick-Fil-A’s CEO’s opposition to same sex marriage. “

A fan site reports that Chick-Fil-A kids meals were featuring a Jim Henson Creature Shop make-your-own puppet toy from mid July to Aug. 18th.

How do you feel about  Chick-Fil-A’s stance on gay marriage? Does it influence your decision to buy your food there either way? If you are offended, it is hard to give it up? (That is some yummy chicken.) Do you think the owners should stop talking about their views?

(I know this is a polarizing issue but please try to stay polite and discuss it like adults. No name calling please.)

Enter your comments here I will like to make this comment – If there is ANYONE who can stand before Almighty God with a straight face and justify gay marriage to HIM and get HIM to agree with it, nothing more needs to be said. Until then, I will support the Word Of God which condemns gay marriage.

Jim Henson Company has always encoured diverse thought,

Unless of course it is someone else’s religious belief’s in this case Cathy’s at which point they will strive to squash all free thought and speech.

Yet YOU fail to see the hypocrisy in this. Small wonder……….

Unlike Biblical scholars like Craig, I would like to simply repeat what a few others have said here: Chick-fil-A has every right to publicly state its position on this issue, as I have every right to now decline to visit their stores any longer. None of us need misread the Scriptures to understand that.

If one disagrees, don’t dine at Chik-Fil-A.

I won’t, nor did I require your permission when I made my decision not to go there, sport.

No other argument is germane here!

And yet another “believer” in tolerance and acceptance speaks up as they attempt to squash opinions that differ from their own……..

I love going to a Chick-Fil-A, being greeted by a clean, well-groomed invidual with a warm, smiling face; not some degenerate with tattoos, multiple body piercings whose ghetto language I have problems understanding.

Their business model obviously works for them and me.

PLEASE just shut this thread down. Nobody is going to agree with anybody here and it doesn’t serve purpose to let ignorant people post. People have the right to support or not support CHick-Fil-A, and trying to validate a reason isn’t going to change anyone’s opinion on the matter.

Chic-fil-a is going out of there way to give away money promoting hate. Any of you that feel this is something positive, compared to having donated the money to an ACTUAL foundation that helps human beings (Africa’s situation, animal cruelty, cancer research, etc.) are completely blind and are the reason we have such nonsensical and useless laws. Though you are allowed to voice your opinion, don’t pretend you’re being a good person for sticking up for this cause, admit you’re ignorance. I’m sure you will still be accepted as a person regardless, unlike the way you treat the gay community.

“I am not at all sure what chicken sandwiches have to do with the rights of gay people to marry, but the Chick-fil-a owners have made this an issue.”
Au contraire. The Gay Pride bunch made it an issue by their boycott of Chick-fil-A because they simply provided eats for an opposing group; it wasn’t a big public deal until then. Chick-fil-A’s publicly stated stance is in response to that boycott; I admire their courage, and I’ll make a point to eat there more often. As for the question of same-sex “marriage,” I have a neutral stance on homosexuality per se; I don’t understand it. Family members I love (Platonically, of course) identify themselves as such. My personal OPINION is that it’s a disorder, or at very least a sad characteristic that compromises the person’s happiness in life. As for calling same-sex partnerships “marriage,” come on–give ‘em equal access to medical care, personal benefits, etc., etc.–but it AIN’T “marriage.” Why are they hung up on calling it that? As for that drive to create a “National Same Sex Kiss Day,” what ever happened to common-sense good taste in avoiding embarrassing public display of affection, even among heterosexual couples? Reference the old song, “When we get behind closed doors….”

…….Also funny…..how one applies the U.S. Constitution for met “my” needs and desires….but never considers how it was written to serve “us” all….as a unified whole.

Whether or not you believe in gay marriage has nothing to do with serving fried chicken people. Chickfila should leave their own personal views out of their business endeavors, becuase it may not represent the views of all the employees, and in turn in can hurt their business. I think it was a poor decision on their part to take this stance.

I do however, see a greater revenue stream in store for the cardiovascular industry.

Not sure how those of you who say “I am a Christian, but I believe that homosexuality is okay”. If you are truly a Christian, the bible is really the only thing we have to go by as to God’s standards and what is and is not sinful. God indeed loves everyone, but also made it clear that it is incumbent upon those who live with ongoing sin (as defined by Him and his word, not by what you “think” or “feel”) to repent (turn from it). NOWHERE in the bible does it say that those who are his followers need to ‘accept’ the ongoing practice of sin. Nowhere. The difference is many of you choose not to believe what is written in His book…you want to use ’selective ethics’.

It’s funny and sad to hear people say that they’re going to support Chick-Fil-A even more now b/c of their stance. By saying that, you’re claiming that you’re going to contribute even more to them and promote more anti-gay sentiments. Good Christians huh? I say classless Christians. You’re trying to place blame with what’s wrong with this society on the gays, which lacks so much common sense. Chick-Fil-A, as good your breakfast wraps are, i can easily find other places to eat at. I could care less if you’re profits go up.

Marriage is an institution to be shared between two loving consenting adults.
If those two adults happen to be the same sex, brother and sister, mother and son, or just ugly as sin, then so be it. Who are we to judge? If it were not part og God’s Plan then the two would not fall in love.
Why are people so jealous of Jesus?
