Free Pink Pig passes for Elf on the Shelf antics!

Elfie had some fun at Nancy's house marking up their family photos! Don't panic: the markers are dry erase. Pretty smart I think!

Update: We need to tweak things a bit to stay within certain guidelines. You can still posts your photos and people can still like them. And we will pick randomly a lovely family to give the passes to based on those who expressed interest by posting a photo.  We will use the same timeline mentioned below.

I have two passes to ride Macy’s Pink Pig to give away for our favorite Elf on Shelf photo during the next two days.

Here’s how we are going to play:

Between noon on Monday and noon on Wednesday, you guys can post photos of your elves’ activities on the AJC Momania Facebook page.

Then readers and friends can go onto the page and “like” the photos. The photo with the most “likes” by noon on Wednesday WINS our two passes! (We may get more passes later to give away so keep your eyes open.)

It’s OK to send friends to the page to stack the votes! You can vote for as many as you want and as often as you want!

If there is a tie on likes then I will pick.

I will post our winner on Thursday morning.

We had a bunch of Elf photos and ideas posted over the weekend. They are all so cute and fun! So check it out and see if there is an idea you can use! Thanks for helping all the other parents by sharing your great Elf ideas and photos!

P.S. While you’re visiting the AJC Momania Facebook page to vote for photos, be sure to like us too!

Mine burned the house down. Unfortunately, all photos have been taken as evidence.

Sorry but the Elf on the Shelf is really lame. I saw it in Target for $30! What a scam. I can’t believe all the people that spend time on coming up with pranks that the elf pulls.

Seriously........

Go ahead with your silly games. There’s a mom in Canton who is now planning a funeral for her 7 year old daughter, who was abducted Friday night, sexually assualted and beaten. They found her little body in a dumpster about 12:30 this afternoon.

Really sad about the little girl in Canton. Makes the elf look even more lame and unimportant, doesn’t it?

Sad about that little girl. At the end of the day, our thoughts mean so very little, especially ones by Jarvis, when we reflect on the tragic losses others endure.

Folks I wrote all this last night before they found the girl. I feel very terrible for the little girl, the mother and her family. It is a horrible tragedy!!

What does a murdered girl have to do with a contest for tickets to ride a train through a parking lot? Do you want the Pink Pig shut down? Mary Shotwell Little disappeared from Lenox Square; let’s just bulldoze it and funnel everyone to Perimeter Mall.

Theresa, why should you apologize for doing something fun and happy with your children? Lately, I have been so stressed out with work, homeschooling etc.. I have been irritated with even having to deal with Christmas. God forbid something horrible happens to my children tomorrow I will have wished that I had gotten out the advent calender on time or taken the time to play with elves. That little girl should be a lesson to us all to enjoy the fun things in life with our children like Elf on a Shelf and The Pink Pig. Our children could be gone tomorrow.
And WATCH your children. That child had been completely unsupervised over and over again. I can guarantee you, there was no Elf on a Shelf in her house.

I love the Elf on the Shelf! I actually have an Elf at the office, and I make all of my employees participate in Elf on the Shelf every morning a 8am. I do all kinds of funny stuff. Just this morning, I poured coffee all over the floor in the break room, while making it look like the company Elf (named Tinky Winky) did it. It was so funny. I think my employees love it, and it’s great for morale during this hectic and stressful season.

@ Homeschooler

You are truly sick.

That child had been completely unsupervised over and over again. I can guarantee you, there was no Elf on a Shelf in her house.

Does being unsupervised justify the horror she went through?

Sick.

Reg is obviously mentally unstable. @ Homeschooler said nothing wrong. Hey Dunlop, have you ever heard of the old saying “a rolling stone gathers no moss?”

c’mon Dunlop, back to the ice witcha or we’re going to trade you in for a skate sharpener.
Everyone on this blog took a personal moment to think of that little girl when hearing about a missing child, and this afternoon to think of her as well. That’s how the target audience for this particular blog goes.
My palms get sweaty just imagining the horror of my daughter even being approached by anyone intending harm to her. There are wretched, horrid people in this World. All we can do is make the best for our own children and do our best to keep them from harm. Elf on a Shelf can be part of the merriment of this season for the kids, and by extension parents.
These weren’t even some investors from F-L-A that have made $ on the Elf. These are local folks for the most part.

I used the cotton ball explosion picture idea just today. The little girl found murdered does not in any way affect one’s enjoyment of an Elf on the Shelf. Oh by the way, the economy sucks, so don’t buy Christmas presents. Whatever…

Got another thing for Reg:
Choose another Nom de Plume. Yours was taken from a classic, funny movie (”Slap Shot”, not family friendly!) and the character’s name you have chosen was the classy Paul Newman.
Your comments portray neither classic, nor funny nor classy.

To the rest, I say Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! (don’t forget to move the Elf tonight)

Wow, Elf on a shelf must be tossing money to the AJC. If I remember correctly, it was “the other elf brand” that was featured in your other blogs. butthen I may be mistaken. Either way, although MY ideas are the coolest, I can’t enter because I de-activated my facebook account because it is nothing more than a spyware source.

As to the poor little girl that they found today? I cried when I read her account on Sunday. I knew she was dead then so when I read it today I…………….. cried again. (Inside, I’m a real man). But it has nothing to do with this thread and trying to be happy.

@Seriously……….. what’s your point? Pick a day and I can find a story about a child who was abused and murdered that day. 24/7 news cycle, SERIOUSLY, so with a few billion human globally we can wear ashes every miute of every day……..

@homeschooler: Really? You know for FACT that the little girl was left to run wild all the time? That doesn’t jive with the account I read that said that a teen was SUPPOSED to be watching her in the playground while mommy was inside with the two younger kids.

i guess John Walsh was a scumbag too right?

Please, God, let the murderer be found quickly, quickly convicted, and quickly executed! I think they will find it was someone at that apt. complex who had been watching the little girl and her activities in the past and knew she would not be supervised by her parent.

So much to respond to, and only on my first cup of coffee :o)

First, the bad – May that little girl rest in peace. I can’t imagine what her family is going through – just thinking about it makes me cry. That pervert deserves a front-row hellscape seat, and I imagine he will get it one way or another. No chance he doesn’t live in that complex, stay there, or otherwise hang out/work there. My money’s on the cops finding him quickly.

There is so much evil in the world, it makes the happy/good all the more important. Our Elf is supposed to come today, and I look forward to reading the story to DD tonight and starting To-Be-Named on his adventures.

I guess we could all wear hair shirts and gnash our teeth, but I like to think appreciating what we have while we have it is the best way to honor someone like Jorelys, not to mention saying a prayer if you are spiritual/religious.

Here’s one…LET’S BE IMPRESSED WITH YOUNG ADULTS WHO ARE WORKING TO MAKE A CONTRIBUTION TO OUR SOCIETY INSTEAD OF EXPECTING EVERYONE ELSE TO PAVE THEIR WAY:

http://news.yahoo.com/calif-teen-takes-100k-national-science-prize-174522896.html

I have not read the entire article but I am impressed that there are still young adults who are diligent and motivated by others, especially their own family…wow!

FYI…this starts when they are little. I am ALL about fun and silliness with children. I am see many kids now who are overindulged and it is refreshing to meet those who still want a teddy bear or a puzzle for Christmas. Kudos for parents who do not think THINGS MAKE YOU HAPPY!

Carry on…

Stumbled across this…apparently some of you had truly awful childhoods or you never were a child. I am a first grade teacher and daily I have my students come in and tell of the fun things their elf did at home. If you could see the joy and excitement in these children, you would stop with your nasty comments…or would you? I am so sorry to hear of that poor little girl being murdered, but does that mean we should all just sit around depressed and mad at others who are enjoying the short time they have on this Earth? What that little girl probably had to endure is beyond what I could ever even try to wrap my brain around, but parents also need be vigilant in the supervision of their children and never become complacent because there are evil people in this world who are more than happy to take what you love away from you! Bad things happen, we should keep that in mind, but with a focus on the good…done!
