Watch Royal Wedding live (and be a grumpy mom) or DVR it?
I am really torn about watching the Royal Wedding live and being an exhausted, grumpy mother the whole next day. (I am now three hours behind you guys and the wedding will start at 3 a.m. here!)
I remember getting up early to watch Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s wedding, and I really treasure those memories. So I would hate to miss it, but I don’t want to be a bad mother the whole next day because I stayed up all night watching all the pre-coverage, the actual event and the after parties. (Why didn’t they get married on a Saturday??)
A friend has invited me and Lilina to work out with her Friday morning and then swim at her house and have lunch, but if I watch the wedding live then I am afraid I won’t be good company.
Originally I had asked my husband for the day “off” so I could watch all day and then sleep the next day. However, he had to go out of town so now it’s just bleary-eyed me and the kids.
I know I can DVR it but there is just something about watching an event live. It’s like watching a football or baseball game on tape. Somehow it’s just less fun. (If you have to be at work and not near a TV, don’t worry the AJC will be live-streaming the event on your computer so you can look like you’re working! So I think I am going to make a game-time decision. I will go to bed early and then maybe wake up to watch from 2 to 4 or 2 to 5 and then try to be coherent when I get the kids up at 6:45 for school.
What is your plan? Are you going to wake up to watch it live? What time will you get up? How much of the coverage will you watch?

“I would also like to see the birth certificate of all living presidents. It seems to me that more is expected of this President than any other.”
Maybe it is because he is seeking amnesty for millions of illegal aliens, many more than Reagan gave. More than likely it is because he has a muslim background, very close ties to Kenya, and family who have tried to sneak into this country illegally. How many past President’s have so many unanswered questions regarding their background, and a voting black that gave him power because of the color of his skin?
I was in an airport half asleep during Diana’s funeral, so I remember the timing would be off a bit for US viewers.
The Royal Wedding is too early for me, I’ll watch the highlight’s tomorrow evening.

@JJ How is it that the President is a narcissist. Because he didn’t respond to the requests of the crazies. I call the birthers crazy because he released his Certificate of Live Birth in 2008 just as the other candidates did. This is what is legal and accepted by the govt. Because he didn’t ask for the long form when the birthers requested, he’s a narcissist???? Really??? Now they are questioning his education and his social security card. Will it ever stop? If he doesn’t give them his college transcript and his SS# asap, does that make him a narcissist?? What could possibly be included on a long form birth certificate that is different from the other that is so important?? McCain was born in the Panama Canal and there was not a peep about him being a naturalized citizen and there should not have been. His parents were American citizens (as Obama’s mom) and in the military serving on a military base. Do you think he could even run for president or even get past the primaries if there was something on his birth certificate?
I lurk alot and usually agree with lots that you have to say, but today, I have to disagree with you.

Thanks, I was finally able to contact my Ringgold family. They are OK, but devastation all around them. Close call for them.

I have avoided all coverage of this fiasco and will continue until it’s over. I didn’t watch Diana and I sure as heck will not watch this mess. I have better things to do than waste my time in front of a TV. To each his own.

@RBH1969 – where is the evidence of him being a Muslim? Wasn’t the controversy a few years ago about him being a racist CHRISTIAN church with Jerimiah Wright? I don’t agree with amnesty for illegal aliens but did we question Bush about his “so called” drug and alcohol addiction? Did we question Bush about the “Weapons of Mass Destruction.” Remember, there weren’t/aren’t any. The voting block didn’t vote on him b/c of the color of his skin. It was based on his qualifications. Bush was a C student and we didnt’ question his background. President Obama is an Ivy League lawyer and followed the american dream… education, job, marriage, kids, house, etc. This is what we tell our children.. “You can be anything you want to be.” Now that someone is in office, without the use of contacts or Daddy’s friends and we have a problem. Go figure….

SHAGGY im so glad your family is ok. lots of terrible destruction…
as for the wedding..im not watching..i gotta work and be alert lol…i watched princess di’s wedding…wasnt working…actually was pregnant with my 3rd child…and i loved di…there was just something about her that touched me. kate and her man…nah…not really interested.

I live on St. Simons Island. Yes I will watch it live, my daughter in Cumming will also as will my daughter in Los Angeles. She is just staying up. My daughter in Savannah is tivoing it. We all saw Diana’s wedding and her funeral together. Her funeral took place on my second daughter’s wedding day here on SSI and Jekyll. I wish them much happiness !!!

DVR all the way – I am on PST time and I got a good night sleep and watched the main parts of the wedding for an hour before work. Fast Forward is equally helpful!! Sleep, don’t be grumpy and ENJOY your day – DVR always!
