20th reunion update! Classy dress, upgraded room!

This was the fourth dress I bought. (I have returned all the others.) It was fitted but not slutty. It also gave me a splash of color.

This was the fourth dress I bought. (I have returned all the others.) It was fitted but not slutty. It also gave me a splash of color.

I wanted to share photos from my 20th high school reunion since you guys helped so much analyzing my dress purchase — Hot Mama or Trying too hard Mama? I bought four different dresses and three pairs of shoes. I ended up with a bustier and a skirt (both of which I could wear later more casually). I returned all the other stuff. Michael was so done with this process.

I think we had about 140 classmates and their spouses show up Saturday night at the J.W. Marriott in Buckhead for Parkivew High School’s Class of 1990 20th reunion. I have to say the hotel really worked with us on price and all the services. They did a great job. I did see New Mom and met her wonderful husband. But I didn’t get a photo with her. (New Mom if you have a shot of us send it to me and I will post with your permission!) We had a wonderful time and saw a lot of great friends. Michael even found a spouse of a friend who was from Augusta so they had a lot to talk about. Michael did a good job talking to people he had never met before.

We had a lovely surprise when we checked into the hotel. The event planner that John, Jenn and I had worked with at the hotel had upgraded our room and John and Jenn’s room to suites (that was your reward for planning your reunion). We had a dining room, living room, and two bathrooms. It was a shock when we  walked in. We’re used to having three kids in our bed. We didn’t even know what to do with that much space or that nice of a hotel room!

Michael thought the ladies from our class had held up well — he thought they had good hair and make-up. We had oodles of doctors, architects, engineers and scientists from our class. (Ga. Tech grads were everywhere.) A lot of our classmates commented on different topics they’ve read on the blog over the last few years — even some men. So that made me feel good.

So here are some shots from our big night out!

My legs are the the only things not adversely affected by giving birth to three children. They still look like they did in high school.

These are my friends John and Jenn Jones who I worked on the reunion with. John and Jenn are both local doctors now (he's a vascular surgeon and she's a dermatologist.) They dated in high school, college and eventually got married. They have three young boys! They have their hands full!

We didn't think to ask someone to take our photo together. This is our sad attempt in the mirror in the hallway.

There were puppets in the entry way of our hotel suite. Michael is pretending to be a puppet. We did pay for the room but the event planner upgraded us because we helped plan the reunion. So nice!

Dining room in the suite -- we wondered how sturdy the table was. How many other couples have wondered that too?

Theresa–very cute dress and you look terrific! I’m glad you had such a good time and it was so well attended. I had my 40th high school reunion last year and had a wonderful time.

LOVE the colors T. I too love a nice hotel room and usually get upgraded, due to my level with several chains. It is nice to be pampered!

I asked my boss if that was too much but he hasn’t responded yet — but I am glad to know you’re reading so closely — funny!

I just had my 18th in May…..it was a very small, informal gathering….but I still wore a strapless black dress! I think its fun drawing a line in the sand in regards to slutty vs classy. Unfortunately…WWWAAAAYYYY too many of us trip over that line and face plant in Slutsville. But you my dear sweet Theresa…..looked both hot and classy! Fabulous dress choice!

Your legs looked like that in HS? Really? At least they don’t look like one of your brats scribbled blue marker all over them. But still.

What the hell does the rest of that house-of-mirrors body look like?

I guess it’s not too bad doing a 20 year reunion when you didn’t have that far to fall, eh?

Love the dress… Good idea with the separates! I skipped my 10th and 15th (dad passed away 4 days prior) but Contemplating my 20th… That is in 4 years so we shall see….I am hoping that people get away from all the Cliques, but judging what I see on facebook, it never stops… LOL …

Theresa, I loved your outfit!! Just the right touch of sexy and dressy! I think I recognize that top from the White House Black Market collection?? Glad you had fun at your reunion!

Longtime – it was White House Black Market — I think a lot of ladies shopped there — recognized several other outfits from there. Also it’s nice because it’s one-stop shop — got the shoes and pashmina there as well. The sales ladies were unbelievably tolerant of the children — I had both girls with me and they let them try on jewelry while I tried on dresses. Very nice!!

itpdude is not very nice — there are loads of things to knock on me but my legs aren’t one of them.

The question isnt Why we should care about your legs, the question is who takes a posed, close up pic of their legs and posts it on a mom blog about a High School reunion? who does that?? And how could you possibly think we would be remotely interested in you and your husbands table sex? Tell us about your reunion if you want, but good gosh….very tacky stuff!

Somehow I don’t care for the complete ensemble. Somehow, the hairstyle doesnt compliment the dress. It’s probably just me, but I think you’d have looked better in something with collar and sleeves, or perhaps dressy slacks, stillettos and a stunning blouse. I mean no disrespect in my comments and I’m glad you had a nice time at your reunion.

The shot of the legs was taken as a joke. And my boss said the table comment was A-Ok.

I’m not nice? I’m not the one who poisoned my evening with the thought of you having a romp on a hotel suite dining table.

JW Marriott is off my list of joints to stay until they burn every dining table in the joint.

BTW, nice white socks on the hubs with them fancy sneakers. Did you dress him yourself?

Great Dress!!! I love the sex comment. Why does everyone act as if once we give birth all thoughts of sex or jokes about dining room tables should be shelved? Just because I am a mom doesn’t mean that I have to be a prude… it was a JOKE. I am sure a few folks have done the deed on the table, lets just hope that they clean them well! What is more alarming is how nasty a bunch of adults can be when they can hide behind their computer…

TWG–you hit the mark with that outfit. Showed that even we Mom’s 20 years past the fun of HS can still have it going on. (Is it just me but I remember having a dress similar to that in the 80’s–plus I noticed 80’s fashions are the “it” look for Back to School).

As to the legs photo…don’t listen to them. Having good gams was Betty Grables appeal!

Now on the table…I didn’t find it a tacky comment. I just thought…oh gross, I never thought of that (how MANY couples may havetested it is the gross part), I will never look at a table in a hotel the same..and certainly never touch one! (And that is coming from someone who recalls a pool table….) ;)
