Enter 3 great contests for moms and families!

We have several great contests for families that you can enter!

Passes to Imagine It! The Children’s Museum of Atlanta

The first contest offers families four free passes to Imagine It! The Children’s Museum of Atlanta.  When my two oldest children were little we had a membership and met our friends there all the time.  It was safe, relaxing, engaging and it had air conditioning! (A huge bonus for a mom playing with kids in the summer time!)

They both loved playing in the sand that isn’t messy (also a mom favorite). They loved loading boxes onto the delivery truck and then pretending to drive off. They loved playing in the water although they never wore the provided rain coats. They also liked the trains, the dancing area and studying the ball-pulley system. We would spend hours. I haven’t taken Lilina yet and need to go. But sadly I’m not eligible to win tickets!

Here’s the link to win a family pass to Imagine It! The Children’s Museum of Atlanta.

Make it a Mom’s Night Out on the AJC and see “The Proposal”

Take some time for yourself and enter to win passes to see the new Sandra Bullock, Ryan Reynolds’ movie “The Proposal,” the trailer is above. We saw a preview of it this weekend and it looks really good. I love Ryan Reynolds, probably best known from “Van Wilder.” Sandra Bullock seems to be in “Miss Congeniality” form – very cute and funny!

Here is the link to win passes to see “The Proposal” starring Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds.

Win a free family vacation to Orlando!

And finally the contest to win a FREE VACATION to FLORIDA is still open for entries! You can win a trip for four to the Universal Orlando Resort!  Here’s the link to enter that contest.

Keep checking back with us each week during the summer. We are going to be offering many more family-focussed prizes for you to win!

Also you can follow me on Twitter, and I will let you know early when we have new contests!

Just a note for those who don’t win the museum passes — summer is a great time to consider becoming a member of your local science museum or children’s museum. In addition to receiving one year’s admission to the museum you join, many participate in reciprocal programs through the Association of Science-Technology Centers and/or the Association of Children’s Museums that give you free admission to other museums when you travel (there are often distance restrictions — ASTC’s passport program allows free admission only to museums over 90 miles away from the one you join as it’s specifically designed to be a travel program).

turd is trying to stir it up on yesterday’s blog as this one is a bit slow today. Anyone want to give him a rebuttal? Have fun!

While I appreciate contests….I never win, so I am apathetic. I do have drawings at my meetings and typically give away $200 worth of various free items per day….educators are hilarious when then win something and it makes me happy that I can brighten their day. Hope someone from this blog wins!

Belle, what area of town are you in?

The Yellow River Game ranch is a lot of fun. I know they used to be in Snellville on Hwy 78, but I believe they moved a few years back. Best to go early in the mornings, when the animals are hungry…..you can hand feed squirrels, chipmunks, all kinds of wild life……

Stone Mountain – do they still have the petting zoo? I used to take my daughter out there, and we would ride the train. It would stop at the Petting Zoo…….all kinds of hiking and free stuff to do out there too.

A lot of parks now have fountains for the kids to play in.

The Train Museum in Duluth is AWESOME for a three year old. I am going to be taking care of a friends’ 3 and 7 year old boys while they go to Vegas, and I plan on taking them there. They also do birthday parties, and you can get an entire “train” to yourself, and they take you on a little train ride too……My mom and I went one lazy Saturday. It’s cheap fun…….especially for little boys…..

There is an interactive museum for kids in Gainesville called Interactive Neighborhood for Kids.

We also enjoy Elachee Nature Center close to Gainesville. Lots of trails and also inside exhibits.

Fernbank Science center has family planetarium shows if you need to beat the heat.

There used to be a kids museum called East Cobb Children’s museum on E. Roswell Rd in Marietta but I can’t find anything saying it’s still around.

Here’s my question guys — if we have contests do we also want a topic for that day??? I can’t figure out how to make sure you see the contests if there’s also a topic blog — hmmm — Will you notice it if I run the contest blog first and then post that day’s topic on top of it??? Or should we do contest blog in the morning and plan that on contest days we have another topic go up at lunch??? Tell me what you guys think — The contests are new to us so we’re still figuring out the best way to do it!!

Two other notes —- You guys should really enter, the number of entries aren’t as high as you would think so you’ve got really good chances to win — If I didn’t work for the paper I would entering every single one!!!! Seriously, I’ve told all my girlfriends to enter!!

And no Photius no Billy Mays — this is all FREE stuff!! I’m just letting you know it exists!!

Finally, We’re working on maybe doing a MOM’s Night Out Movie Night — with free passes for moms to movies — would you guys want to do that??? Should I push on that??? Also a family night at the movies with free family passes —- Let me know what you guys think — I’m trying to have giveaways every week for you!!

Also wanted to let you guys know we may have some cooking classes to give away too — I’m working on that one — So really I’m just trying to find fun stuff that moms would enjoy!!

We’ve had VBS this whole week so we’re gone all morning long — that’s why I’m finally answering now —

Theresa…who won the Food Network contest? Was it posted and I missed it?

I might go for a SPA giveaway….LOL.

JJ, we took our neighbor to Yellow River last year and saw the new baby deer….about as big as a bunny….really cute. Anyone have any tips for a daytrip to Amiacola ( sp?) Falls.

JJ, try Noah’s Ark in Locust Grove. It’s an animal rescue facility, but also a Children’s home. It’s free, but they do appreciate donations of money and/or stuff (check their website for their wishlist). Your and your little one can have some fun, and your donation goes to a good cause.

I also agree that the Yellow River Game Ranch is a great place to take little tikes. Just bring a few dollars to buy some food for the animals and they’ll be following you around.

TWG, why not just make a normal post and put a link to the contest at the top, then folks who are interested can click, but not have to check back later for the post. I hate having to return to a site, so posting both at the same time would be best.

We watched that too FCM — we knew the sister of one of the stars — Jennifer Westfeldt -(speling) — She did the Kissing Jessica Stein and is now the partner of the star of Mad Men — I do really like Ryan Reynolds!

Is that Lori my Lori — my former roommate and bridesmaid?? I think it is. Happy to hear from you!!

Hey MJG — I actually got invited to go to the Food Network event and had the nicest time!! I met two of our winners. One was a school teacher who brought a very attentive date. She was lots of fun to talk with! And the big winners who got the grand prize was a young couple who are getting married next January. They just graduated from college and were so excited to win cooking equipment — the perfect wedding present!! I talked with the head PR lady and I am hoping to do several contests with them — so I’m trying to get good fun things for us!!
