Solely dating for looks?

This is not breaking news but there are singles who still date people based solely on their looks. It is something that we all do at one point because we are some shallow jerks when we want to be. Admittedly, the physical attraction to your date is very important but we all know it isn’t enough to sustain a real relationship.

When you focus on the looks you tend to overlook the awful personality, the big red flags, or glaringly obvious incompatibility. So why do we still get so distracted by the shallow stuff? How important are looks to you?

I know a lot of women who say they meet a guy and he doesn’t appear all that attractive in the beginning but over time their attraction to him grows. Does that happen for men as well? Do you think dating based on looks is something we should evolve from at some point?

When you fall for someone’s personality, everything about them becomes beautiful.

MsAtl, but who sees personality when the walk in the door?

when you are hooked up the first thing you’ll ask is: how does she/he look. you aint checking for personality. That comes next.

Single- I get that. That was also my original comment; that looks is what initially attracts a person. Personality, though is what keeps them attractive.

Button – Drool. Even those that feign disgust would get with them in a heartbeat if they could, trust. The disgust comes mostly from women, from what I observe. I personally don’t care, cause they all are laughing all the way to the bank.

Maybe it just depends on the the kind of business where folks are getting passes for being cute.

Round here, a bad day would be getting locked in on a deal for a few millions. The real deal goes rings in starting around $50MM. Trust the CEO and CFO don’t care nothing about how cute you are when that kind of money is on the table. What they wanna know is what are the terms, can you bring it, is it conducive, and for us, what kind of revenue are we talking, are you ratings up to par, produce your financials…so forth and so on

So, yeah I guess cute is relative in some shackalacka shop where you can get a free combo or supersize your meal cause had cateyes…lolol I ca-rack myself up.

Let me get to work.

The business world can be fickle. Sometimes you can be “too” attractive. Then you get passed over because some think pretty = dumb. You are not taken seriously. Some then will try to downplay their looks and dress dowdy to get respect.

Kimmie- Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. I was in court once where the judge appeared to openly flirt with a young female attorney. By the same token, A group of judges issued a memorandum because they were tired of female attorneys appearing in court with short skirts and low tops. One judge said it makes it hard (no pun intended) for him to focus on the attorney’s argument because all he can see is cleavage.
I believe I am attractive, but in my field, brains is what matters. I am not going to undermine my professionalism by dressing for attention.

MsAtl/kimmie – you can dress in a frock, if you are attractive then you are attractive. Most do too much with dressing inappropriately for attention, any ol’ cow can put on a tight short skirt and low top and will get attention.

I got of tickets twice…flirted with the officer.

One was a motorcycle cop, that did a u-turn while I was at the light and pulled behind me. He’en really want nothing….and he knew that I knew it.

The other was where I turned right on red and the sign said clearly, no turn. I didn’t see the cop in the cut. He pulled me over, I was fresh though. Looking fly and hair done, sexy sunglasses. I turned it waaay up (my kid was in the back seat), but I was a bit embarrassed for her to see me turn it on. Shoot, I did NOT want a ticket. Not to mention buddy was FIONE as heck. I told him too :) He said, “Imma let you slide this time.”

MsAtl – Absolutely. I am in a behind-the-scenes area of my company and nobody give a flip how pretty you are as long as you know what you are doing. Dumb step aside. We gotta keep this money up in here right! And in the research and development areas, the nerds have a field day cause it’s all about innovation and creating the next new thing(telecommunications/technology company). Nobody cares about pretty, just come in neat and clean. Now in the areas open to the public, it’s a different story.

The motorcycle cop said I wasn’t wearing my seatbelt. I told “Mister Officer, Suh”, that I had just about half an hour to pick my kid up. He said the same, “Imma let you slide…this time.”

All I know is when I was in sales 98% was nice looking, only the fuglies, overweights had the $hitty accounts. Yeah they have to have brians for the backend, the dugouts, the pool ppl. Looks doesn’t matter in those departments. You better have brains bc you’re the ones pulling the haul!

how many ppl use the sanitizer whips at the grocery store to whip down their shopping cart handle? I use it but the handle is going to get right back nasty while shopping touching the nasty meats/stuff. Also at the buffet, I just can’t with all those folks touching the ladle/big spoon. just nasty! however I do know one place will give you plastic gloves if you request it.

Why would anyone call him or herself ugly?? Especially if you ain’t lacking in the love department. My mama always taught me you won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but you’ll be someone’s. And if someone, another one.

Durty – Believe me, if he had not been rushing to get to work…….lol

Off topic – Did anyone listen to Ryan Cameron this morning? He & his cohost Mo were reporting about a Glamour article that Gabrielle Union has in the upcoming February issue. In it, she addresses Dwade’s “break baby”. She actually puts the blame for it on herself. She said she was working project after project and didn’t make time for Dwade when he needed her and that’s why he turned to someone else. It was also implied that the baby was not concieved when their “break” was official.

Mo kind of expressed my view on it all. If she wants to forgive him and work it out, that’s fine, on her. The issue Mo, and I have, is the unprotected sex, just irresponsible.

Kimmie- Gabby is thirsty and pay back is a mugg!! the same way she did D’s first wife is coming back to bite her in the arse! I feel no pity for that ol bird. Of course she’s going to blame herself, see how crafty she is to turn the tables on herself. Oh I wasn’t there for him blah blah yeah right, that man was smashing everything not held down but if she’s down for riding a man who is known for hitting it raw than more power to her.

Kimmie…I heard them talking about that. I don’t think she should blame herself. If he wasn’t happy with her working all the time, then get out of the relationship instead of cheating. But if she wants to forgive him, then that’s on her. Don’t blame yourself though. There was an article on TMZ where they calculated the timeframe of conception based on when the baby was born. They went to her instagram account and showed pictures where they were obviously together during their calculated conception date.

Celisea – when I see movies from the seventies there were a lot of dark ppl on them. Soul train, good times, fred sanford, foxy brown, all of them had dark skinned ppl on those shows, starring roles too. So all the dislike of darker complexion ppl come straight from the media. Media is white washed. They will always try to rid darker complexion ppl but we aint going NOWHERE!!!!! if you get a chance check out Black in South America on youtube. Eye opener.

kimmie/Glammour – yeah I saw that on tmz too, talk about being busted. She can’t sell that story about “we were on break” lol nope not this time. he’s a cheater! how you get him is how you’ll lose him or how you will live with em. She see how he did his first wife and she thought he would do her any better? HA!
