Are you too raunchy for your date?

My friend Chris is new to the city so he has been meeting women in different places. Recently he met “Kelly” at the gym and asked her out. Kelly told him that she wanted to pick the location and so he agreed to pick her up. She gave him turn by turn directions and they ended up at some kind of adult entertainment venue.

Chris is super straight laced and not into that scene at all so he insisted that she pick another activity for them. She obliged but he said that the entire evening she said some really raunchy things.

Now, in Kelly’s defense, when Chris is in his workout gear, you can’t tell that he is conservative. Apparently she didn’t gather that from the few conversations they had before the date either. So know we have two people with extremely different viewpoints on a date. Awkward!

I think if Kelly had saved her raunchy side for later, he could have discovered other things that they had in common. He decided with absolute certainty that there won’t be a second date, though.

Do you ever get turned off when someone you just met gets to raunchy?

Guys, how would you have reacted in this situation?

I don’t care for raunchy or dirty talk, it turns me right off. I don’t know why someone you barely know you would feel ok talking like that, thats just weirdo to me -> time to run away from that person

Chris has to realize that this here is the A..not the corn filled, cow dung infested lands where he came from where the women wear Amish gear!

He needs to wise up!

What was he gon do with the lady if he had won her over??

Wow. I wish women like that would deal with men like that and vice versa. Instead of women like that preying on straight laced men and vice versa.

Yes I get turned off if men are raunchy too soon or talk about sex before even asking things about me like my birthday, hobbies, etc. I do however value their honesty. Please let me know that’s all you care about before I sleep with you so that I can send you on your merry way to someone like Kelly. You win, she wins, I get to keep my cobwebs and watch Netflix. We all win. :D

Too raunchy too soon is a turn off, I like dirty talking but when we are in an established relationship though. I always waited a while before I release my inhabitions in a relationship, (not dating) don’t want to scare the guy off! Kelly should’ve waited to release her wild side, not every guy can handle it. btw Kelly is a brave soul to invite a stranger to her home. IMO Kelly is pushing the envelop a tab bit too much.

Good morning!

Hello all

Nothing wrong with what she did, they found out early they’re not compatible! If he’s as straight laced as diva claim “Now, in Kelly’s defense, when Chris is in his workout gear, you can’t tell that he is conservative.” it wouldn’t have made a difference when he found out. Now I don’t know how you can tell by what someone is wearing how conservative they are but, hey I guess that’s why so many get fooled.

Do you ever get turned off when someone you just met gets to raunchy? Sex has never stopped me from getting to know someone if I wanted to know them

Guys, how would you have reacted in this situation? Would have went right on in and had a great time.

Yes, this was their first and seems only date, how were they supposed to know each others personality. That’s what dating is about.

Short answer: no

Long answer: Hell no.

Though, I used to try to have that conversation about “expectations” and I talked myself out of a lot of good times. Then I stopped and had a few more good times.

The funny thing is, when I stopped talking myself out of the good times, I ran into a few of the women from the past. They commented (generally) on self loathing, a history of abuse, and poor self esteem. #dodgedafewbullets

If a female invited me to a strip joint on our first date, I’m thinking I lucked out. Personally, I would’ve been flattered and thought she probably worked there(with a hook up at the bar.) If he knew what I knew, he would’ve taken her inside, told her to find something she likes and bring it back to the table.

“I would be offended if straight out the gate a man started with the raunchy talk…….”Let’s be clear, if a guy does that…..he’s a perverted idiot. If a chick does it, she’s confident and uninhibited. What would really be cool is if on the next date she invited him to a play or a museum, then maybe to church. Most men would be intrigued by her diversity. Not to mention if she made him wait a while to get some, she could be a keeper. You can’t always judge a book by its raunchy cover.

I recently told a gf that I had lunch at Strokers one time and she immediately turned her nose up saying how can you eat with the stench of puddy in the air? Told her it smell like that to me when I was there. She immediately said all strip clubs smell like that. If you hadn’t been to all of them, don’t make that statement. Most respectable men would not want a woman who is a free spirit.

Button – I guess it depends on ones definition of a free spirit. I personally define it just as someone who marches to the beat of their own drum. They don’t feel the need to always follow the status quo and do what is “expected” all the time. I find free spirits are usually more artistic and creative. They are no less respectable than anyone else. They seem to live life to the fullest. They will wear bright yellow while everyone else is wearing beige.

I fancy myself to be a bit of a free spirit. I caused a bit of a stir with my parents when I didn’t want to go to the “expected” college they initially wanted me to attend. I made my case, and they came around and respected my choice. Where I messed up was choosing a “safe” and boring major. I find I am happiest when I follow my free spirit instincts. Like wearing a pink wedding dress instead of the traditional white. :)

“Nah Du- she nasty………” it’s rare, and kinda odd, for a female to start talking about sex right off the rip. I’m thinking that timing is everything. I’m not a prude nor am I against going to strip clubs. However, if a dude took me to one as a first date, i’d be totally turned off. Now if we’ve been dating, built up our comfort level and were vibing, then I would be more open to hitting up a strip club for a date later on down the road. It’s that Strip-club-out-the-gate part that would make me frown up my face thinking, “whatchuthinkthisis fool!”. But if he said they were going to be having bible study at the club, then maybe I’d be more relaxed. j/k

It takes all kinds to make the world go round in an interesting manner. If nothing else, Kelly sure gave Chris(and the blog) something interesting to talk about! :)

Having said that, what Kelly did was a little over the top, and a little risky for a woman to do with someone she doesn’t know. I’m citing the safety factor of it all. The freak factor, well I’m sure she’ll have no problem finding someone willing to go along with it. Chris is just not the one, especially coming out the gate. Maybe he might have been more willing down the line. He might even turn out to be a bigger freak than her. A lot of times, the straight-laced, quiet types are the ones you gotta watch more than the bold, outgoing types.

They could have ended up being perfect for each other. But first impressions are everything.

Dirty talk before you know me like that has never been my thing, but I do appreciate finding out early exactly where one is coming from.

Leggs- Didn’t we have a topic a few months back where some guy took a woman to a strip club on a 1st date or was that just a story one of the bloggers posted? Either way, I remember a few of the guys on here saying that the woman in that case just had to have done/said/dressed/acted in a way that made the dude think she would be down for that type of thing. Basically put it on the woman that she didn’t warrant the respect of the guy so that’s all he thought she was good for.

Well, Chris must have said or done something to make Kelly think he would be down for some adult entertainment. I mean, Wise does say that by the way he dresses at the gym you wouldn’t think he’s so straight-laced…….hmmm

He was like he didn’t want the date to be over and I was like so what do you want to do? He mentioned a movie that he wanted to see but didn’t know the name. I was like what do you normally do on Saturday afternoons maybe we can do that? He said go to a strip club. I said it’s like 2 in the afternoon he was like so what? I go on my lunch break sometimes it’s right across the street from my job. I was like fine let’s go. He was really surprised he was like no we don’t have to go. I was like obviously you want to, otherwise you wouldn’t have even mentioned that’s what you do on Saturday afternoon. I think the issue or main point of discussion is the question posed – Do you get turned off when someone you just met gets too raunchy? What happened with Chris & Kelly is, to me, an anomoly, one of those crazy things that don’t happen every day. Nothing surprises me anymore. It is interesting to know what the guys would do if they had something like that to happen to them. But yes, folks jump the gun and take it to the gutter with folks they don’t know all the time, make crude suggestions, sext, send racy pics, it runs the gamut.

No man has gone straight raunchy coming out the gate with me like that on a date, but some have said little things that crossed the line, say at a night club or party when they might have had a little much to drink.

My experience with the Bible-thumper type men to be a little overbearing and judgemental with it. My relationship with God is my own and they seemed to look down on me or question my faith if my walk was not expressed the same way as theirs. I have strong faith, but I’m a little low-key and private with it and so is my husband.

Maybe Chris’ you-know-what is visible in his workout clothes. So she thought he was like that. There’s a guy I work with. His you-know-what is visible in certain things he wears and the women get a kick out of it because supposedly it’s of size. I dont know I don’t have a trained eye for looking at that and don’t generally look at men anyway. But all of that to say that’s probably what they meant by his work out attire.

I dated a guy who – over the course of the relationship – became uber-religious. At the end, I told him that I didn’t need him judging me – for a few reasons. I am convicted by my own spirit when I am off the path. Also, he didn’t have a heaven or a h#ll to put me in and ONLY God can judge. It just became too heavy, too much, too weird.

If a person does not feel the need to go to church every Wednesday and Sunday, it does not make them a heathen. If I spend the night in my garage, does that make me an Audi?

Hi larious…I just burst our laughing :)

In Christianity the walk for all true believers are the same. That’s the the guage is the bible…not what you think. Heck, it’s not even what I think. It’s what God says and mandates. That makes true religion universal. Everybody running every which doing what they think or feel ain’t the real thing…IJS Every true believe gets in line with what the Word calls for. You’re sadly mistaken and misguided if you think the path to eternal life is based on “how you feel, worshipping in your own way.” The Spirit of God, directs every man the same way, in line and in synch with Christ’s walk.

But, I digress. Everybody should live how they feel. Those that are or are not will be revealed in the end. Even God says leave ‘em alone, let ‘em live how they want and I’ll do the separating in the end. I say, live on!

@SlimNu Being naked in front of me or me being naked in front of another woman is completely different than being groped and felt up. I know this is gonna sound weird and maybe no one will appreciate this but I don’t know something about the women’s locker room gives me a sense of sororite, I feel like I can be naked, half naked whatever because we are all in there together for the same reason. I wouldn’t bat an eyelash at women walking around naked talking etc. I wouldn’t allow anyone to touch me or feel up on me just of out sororite though. No way.

Personally, and maybe I’m just old school, but I never did the women dancing with each other at night clubs thing. And in locker rooms or showers when I was in the college dorm, I’ve never been one to stand around naked. I go in and do what I have to do and put some clothes on. Meello, we all sin….everyday. Look, it’s not like you think….you’re narrow in your thinking. We are “striving” to be what God wants us to be. Even in that on our best day, we’re all sinners….everyday. And with God there’s no ranking of sin. We all have a need to be forgiven daily. Now cause you ain’t robbing a store or NOT plowing that man’s wife. We recieve and obey the Spirit. It ain’t in no person’s nature to live righteously….so be that “good person”, that ain’t where it lies. It’s not the sin you don’t commit, it’s obedience to the Spirit, that pleases God. Otherwise, without the Spirit abiding and leading and strengthing, you (me and anybody else) are on our own. Everything we do, by nature is sinful. Everything.

And FTR, we all “like” sinning….it’s our nature

Regarding morality vs. raunch, and in reference to Raqi’s quote of Mathew, everyone’s a hypocrite in one way or another, some time or another, in lots of different ways, and repeatedly until we die. That’s just the human condition. We judge, we sin, and if we’re lucky, we’re obedient to the spirit sufficient to learn from these kinds of mistakes. Here’s one of the biggest mistakes: thinking that sin == fun. The strip joint is NOT fun, folks, it’s just plain sad, pathetic really: you spend all your money, leave alone, having not been all that entertained by dancers that are only there for the money.

More specific to Mathew 7:6, I know, it’s kind of fruitless to point out things like that, but, there you go.

Especially those from already unfortunate backgrounds, this is a way out without having to resort to a life of crime. The whole family leans on them for money, as well as the baby mama’s on the prowl.

I’m proud of some of the guys I went to school with. A few that I knew that went pro still got their degrees. They had something to fall back on when they retired. And those that didn’t go pro took full advantage of the free education and contacts they made.

“you spend all your money, leave alone, having not been all that entertained” There’s some truth to that. Then again it depends on who you are. Strips joints played out for me many years ago. I prefer to turn my bedroom into a strip joint (preferably with multiple dancers), but back in the day when we did it, things were different. We were kinda known for getting bread. We would shoot the house man a hundred, after a few dances and drinks, we’d holla at our regulars, they’d go in the back and change, come back out dressed with their little rolling suitcases and head straight to the whip. I was in Strokers several months back and was so ready to go. I couldn’t stop complaining, I’m like “Baby, do you have to dance so close to my face, could you back up a few feet….No, I do not want a lap dance….pleas don’t sit on me….Stop huggin me! putting that glitter azz lotion all on my shirt…..got me smelling like perfume…..man let’s dip.”
