Happy Thanksgiving to you to WD

I thankful for all my life experiences & relationships, whether good or bad. I wouldn’t know the good times unless I went through the bad times. They all made me the person I am today.

lee – I know it’s early but your post immediately made me think, hmmmm my turkey is moist, it just needs to be stuffed. Sorry i know. lol The lack of sleep is killing my brain cells.

I’m thankful for my real true friends and folks that love me for me….Outside of family, experiences, personal growth, i’m most certainly thankful for the angel that constantly has my back. I don’t know who he/she is but their presence is always. ;-)

Oh and i can’t forget about my blog family…

good morning. ummm. I think yesterday I said that I was turning “I’m thankful” into a drinking game this year. as such, I will reserve the things I am thankful for until such time as the drinking games shall begin.

kimmie – I’m not sure where you are but I messed around and bought some neckbones last night too. darned you. lol.

Morning Gang!!! Whoa, that wind was whipping this morning!!!

I am tayloring my “thankful” to the blog this morning.

I am thankful that I discovered this little gem of a blog back in 2005. It has really helped me thru some long workdays. It’s great reading other folks perspective on things and it gives me a chance to share my opinions as well. I love sharing in major events of my blog family – new jobs, babies, SO’s, marriages, breakups, divorces, job layoffs, lottery winners, new cars, new homes, big trips, kid’s graduations, great new resteraunts, recipes, the latest sales happening, home improvement tips, medicaI, legal and financial advice, fashion tips – I could go on forever. I have made some great friendships with blogmates offline.

In other words LUV YA BLOG GANG!!!

Hey Disco – LOL!!! I may cook & eat mine tonight. I’ll be up for awhile preparing stuff for T-day.

Morning All!!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

I’m thankful for family and friends and this day and all the days to follow.

“I am thankful that I discovered this little gem of a blog back in 2005″

What? That long? My goodness. Don’t know how long I’ve been around. Came and went a time or two(illness), but I’ve enjoyed it. Guess we’ll leave for Marietta later this evening. My daughter will cook for us. Maybe we can bring enough food back to where my wife will not decide to go in the kitchen and start baking again. Although, there’s always Christmas, New Years, and MLK day coming. She tends to want to ‘get her bake on’ around those holidays as well. Got my fingers crossed though.

kimmie – I decided to cook a “mini-meal”. I don’t like day of pressure so tend to knock out what I can the night before. I’ve also decided to do the greens in the crockpot. hope ex approves and doesn’t think they are “cooked to death”. lol.

I still see that bag of sweet potatoes on the kitchen floor. That’s good. Just leave them there. Or, better yet, take them to Atlanta with us. Let our daughter fool with them. Yeah, that’s an idea. I’ll suggest it before we head out later. Hehehehe…..

Reio – I stumbled on it. I was really into The Apprentice back then and it was getting hot. I saw on the front of the AJC they were having a discussion concerning it on this blog. That’s when I discovered it and started coming back every day from work.

Disco – I don’t think cooking the greens in the crockpot will count as cooking them to death!LOL You will just be using an “alternate technique” and the nutrients should still be present, along with great flavor. My meal might count as a mini-meal in a way. We usually go to my hub’s aunt & uncle house across town for T-day but I make a few things to have at our house since going out we would not have leftovers. I do a good ham and got one on sale. While they love my homemade stuff, they also like Honeybaked Ham’s sweet potato cassarole & Marie Callender’s mac & cheese, so I paid for convenience!LOL!! I will be doing the greens myself and a roasted turkey breast. I will also be doing dressing for the first time and my first pumpkin pie. I am confident both will be great. I remember how my mother did both and will follow her lead. I’m doing the greens, dressing & pie tonight. I like my meats fresh the day of. :)

fellas – what would you do in this situation? your woman’s teenaged son (not your son but you raised his little behind) starts smelling himself and jumps bad and steals on you. a roundhouse from the back right up against the side of your face. what’s your reaction?

2C – that’s just exactly what dude did. he said he didn’t even think though. just reflexively turned and popped him. apparently he popped him hard enough that his jaw is wired. now you can imagine the backlash. not from the momma. she told her son that’s what he gets from jumping bad but the son went to the grandma who got the police and children’s services involved. it’s some mess.

2C – your story reminds me of my youngest brother telling me about the time he thought he was grown enough to try my other brother. omg – I laughed so hard. long and short, my other brother showed my youngest brother that he wasn’t as bad as he thought he was. my baby bro said he threw his little blow and next thing he knew he was hemmed up. lol…

reio – right now, the grown man is gone but it’s primarily because the police pegged the whole incident as domestic and until it’s sorted out children’s services doesn’t want him around the other kids. I said if that was my son he’d catch another beatdown from me just for causing all this drama.

disco, although you hate to do it, but when, and if the situation ever arises, you cain’t take it easy on ‘em either…you literally gotta give it to ‘em….cause they’ve caused you to put ya hands on ‘em, so now you gotta go all the way…..cause if they try that mess with someone in the streets, they better be prepared for the repurcussions…

Preach Disco!!

This reminds me of an incident with my mother & one of my brothers. He was riding in the car with her and popped off at the mouth about something. My mom said before she knew it, she hauled off and slapped the shid out of him, so much he was crunched up against the car door/window, never taking her eyes off the road. They were not that far from the house, so she then proceeded to stop the car and put him out to walk the rest of the way!

We all used to live in fear of my mama’s slaps! That brother, especially, from then on!LOL!!

2C – I’m the oldest child and oldest of my cousin peer group. I never went at it hard like that with older cousins. I have friends/relatives who were the younger siblings. I don’t know what really went down but these chicks are good and grown and still have healthy doses of fear of their big sisters. even chicks with serious street cred will not mess with their big sisters. the stories are hilarious!!!

kimmie – did you see the movie new jersey drive? being in fear of momma’s slaps reminds me of the scene when midget said “you don’t need to be worrying about the police, you need to be worrying about your moms”. this after his mom slapped the spit out of him in front of his boys. lol.

Shheeeiiiooottt

It’s an easier solution than that (older sibling doing more damage). My uncle used to tell my cousin to “handle my sister’s lightweight.”

A kid can be the Seargent at Arms for discipline of a another kid, far easier, and with far less consequences than any adult.
