Dating: When cultures collide

I think one of the best parts of dating is when you get to meet someone new who can expose you to new experiences. Whether they hip you to a new language, different foods, or even music, our lives can actually become richer from some of our dating misadventures!

While having things in common can be good, dating someone from a totally different background, culture, or race can be enlightening! One of my friends is dating a guy from India. She is from Atlanta and has never been out of the country. Since she has dated him, she says that outlook on the world has really changed.

Of course, dating someone from a different culture can have its challenges. Sometimes customs, traditions, and values differ so much, it becomes hard to manage a relationship that has to merge all these things.

Have you ever dated someone who is from a different cultural background? Do you think it made things more interesting?

@MsAtl now all three of your butts are going to jail over some chicken wings? ??? Really? And I was just reading about that guy that died over selling his iPhone. All 3 of those lives are thrown away over a piece of aluminosilicate glass and stainless steel. SMH.

YSIC- Ridi cu lous! $18.00 worth of chicken wings cost them $25,000 cash bond! And the idiots were on the corner eating the evidence when they were caught. And the young man that lost his life over the phone- damn shame!
Btw- impressive description of the I-Phone! (aluminosilicate glass).

2C ~ a verbal exchange in any capacity where both can hold there own is always an exciting read, especially when no one is arguing and cussing, just stating their view. Yeah, I like that.

2C I did the whole sending cards, putting money on the phone account, sending letters everything short of visiting (he was locked up in a city where my airline didn’t have service at the time). Matter of fact I still have a box in one of my closets full of his letters. All this for someone who was a childhood friend from Germany (we’re still friends he’s a really nice guy). But as far as bond goes, no way no how, see ya. Unless you are telling me where your stash is to bond you out with I’m not doing it. But I will talk to you on the phone through the glass and keep it tight.

@MsAtl It is just unnerving and people wonder why I don’t have kids. That’s why I can only IMAGINE how that man’s mom is feeling to know he left to sell an iPhone LEGITIMATELY and never came back.

BTW I asked Siri what she was wearing one day and that’s what she said  I asked her another day what she was wearing and she said “You have the wrong personal assistant”. I love playing with Siri sometimes.

MsAtl… Is that considered arm robbery? Is that why that was a straight bond?

YSIC…easy on those big words…hehehehehehe!

Leggs…I was getting my popcorn ready, I wanted to read more information regarding pimpology or pimpingology…Are those real words? lol

Leggs did you hit that 915 this afternoon?

Durty- No, just robbery; they didn’t have weapons. The delivery guy had a gun. I don’t know why the judge ordered cash bail. It should be based on their pure stupidity!

@MsAtl I was wondering what they meant when they said he had a guy. So wait where was this gun? Why he didn’t pull it on them when they approached him? How did they search him?

YSIC- “The driver said the men took off with the his chicken wings, valued at almost $18, when he pulled out a gun.” I don’t know how they managed to search him either unless the gun was in his vehicle. The whole thing is just stupid. You got robbed and you were the only one with a gun? Really???

Since it is slow in here…

A man called into the Steve Harvey Morning Show this morning to ask for advice. His story.
He has been married for 14 years, with his wife for @ 20 years. They have no children together. They live in a house left to her by her grandmother. His wife’s mother lives with them and so does his wife’s 26 year old son, her 25 year old son (who has 10 kids, oldest one is 4 y o) and his girlfriend. The man cannot take it any more and the wife always takes her family’s side. He was trying to help her cousin and the cousin hit him in the mouth, knocked out a tooth and when he fell, two more got knocked out, but he managed to bite the cousin on the ankle. He wants to know what to do.

Now y’all know Steve acted a straight fool on clowning that man!

That sounds like the episode on Ylana Fix my Life where this woman let all these relatives move in and the husband was miserable, but never spoke his mind. What should he do. Kick everyone out but his wife…they’re grown, let them forge their own path and find their own lodging, even if it has to be in homeless shelter until they can get on their feet, KICK THEM OUT! You hit me once after I’m helping you, your a$$ is grass! Get to steppin…..

Honestly I haven’t kept up since it’s been slow, but thought I’d take one last peek before heading and found this HI LARIOUS!!! I just hollered. He asking what to do??? Ummm, keep the wife (maybe) and put the rest of them grown jokers out!!! Period. Point blank. How else they gon’ know they can make it as adults. Grant it the mama ain’t taught them too much or they’d already be out there and not tryna see who can procreate the fastest. Now back to the wife….keep her around ONLY if she can separate herself and tend to her marriage, her hubby. Give her a window. She can’t prove otherwise, send her on with her kids. Let them all be a family.

Thanks for the laugh….I’m out!!

MsAtl…Some of the lives some of the folks are living are unbelievable…First who in the world/US is having 10 kids these days?

I am amazed with all the sex education information available to us and the rampant amount of STDs running around that quite a few folks are still having unprotected sex, untested sex and no birth control…They are even trying not to get pregnant..

Folks out here are losing their dang minds…10 kids at 25yrs dang-it

One more…I read the saddest story today….A 42 y.o. preacher committed suicide. I was at a lost for words. So so sad. I sat here thinking about his wife and kids and congregation. He sent his family on to church ahead of him and then did it. A gunsot wound to the head. The article said he told his congregation sometimes he don’t think God heard him. One thing I can say, God is NOT like man. He is though ever present and as close as you let him be.
