Are you a gym pimp?

I know I am not the only one who goes to the gym to look cute and be seen, right?  Oh don’t judge me but.. it’s true!  Single girls don’t get days off so working out has to also be a mix and mingle event sometimes.

Yes, I get my heart rate up but scoring a couple of phone numbers can burn some calories too! Pulling out your phone and adding a fine man’s number should count for some kind of exercise. I know, my trainer didn’t go for it either.

This is why a ladies only gym can be so useful!  A place where I can go without makeup and work out.  I would not get distracted by hot boys and manly muscles.  Which is why I was thrilled at what I saw last night.

Last night I got to preview ROC House Fitness Spa – a new ladies fitness center/salon/spa that is slated to open in Buckhead soon.  It is so fabulous and serene. I can’t wait to get into that virtual spin studio!

The owner, former NBA player Larry Hughes, said he wanted a one stop shop for the busy woman who wants to look great and feel great.  He also said with a hair and nail salon included, women have no “hair excuse” not to work out (Um GUILTY!).

I don’t know if I will miss working out with boys if I get to work out in this sexy gym!

Do you believe a gym is a good place to mix and mingle? Have you ever “got the digits” from someone at the gym but regretted it later?

Why do you think the gym makes some people act so nuts? I can never shake the married guys off! Are you a gym pimp? Do you use the gym to get attention from people you find attractive?

No never dressed up to go work out, i wear rags. Used to go to the gym people sweat all over the place and no one wipes the machines off–gross–

I can never shake the married guys off! Are you a gym pimp? You could not shake the married men off due to you looking like you are on the hunt, men recognize this.

Do you use the gym to get attention from people you find attractive? No not that needy- now i have my own weight system and the track works good for me also.

Not fun Tuesday but the Weekend is getting closer

Mmmm hmmmm, leave it to a man to come with the idea of an all women’s gym/spa/salon etc etc etc…lol Sooo typical!

The owner, former NBA player Larry Hughes, said he wanted a one stop shop for the busy woman who wants to look great and feel great. He also said with a hair and nail salon included, women have no “hair excuse” not to work out (Um GUILTY!).

Easy for you (Larry) to say! Black hair is naturally “dry” and much damage can be done washing it everyday. Not how God designed us :) Therefore, I’m one that works out or walks or exercise (whatever it be) more so close to hair appointment time. I will NOT go after I’ve had my hair done. Also, will getting your hair done be complimentary? Overall, no I don’t go to the gym all dolled up. I go there to get a brisk walk/workout and that translate to “sweat.” Sometimes someone catches my eye, but again I’m not there for that. So nope, I throw on sweats and a (matching) tshirt (sometimes) and stick my hair on top of my hair or wear a ponytail….but that’s it. :)

But yeah, my preference is co-ed. Where there are women or all women, there tends to be cattiness and jealousy

Plus I’m a germaphobic, I don’t want to be anywhere too long where there’s bodily secretion (i.e.sweat)…lol When I sweat, I sweat everywhere and being closed up for 3,4,5 hours in a damp place ain’t all that appealing to me. Maybe I’m paranoid….hahahahaha….I want to get in and out. I tend to (nearly) santize the entire treadmill. Just the thought of holding/grabbing handrails behinds someone else’s sweat is uuuggghhh, gross. So yeah, I wouldn’t be hanging around too long for a workout, a shower, snacks and a hair appointment. I’m weird like that…I wanna get in and out and that’s all

Good morning! I don’t use the gym, I use my fitness center in my subdivision and happily I have it to myself 99% of the time! I’ll add that sweat and stinky plus mascara and lip stick is a big fat no no. YUCK!!! The only thing on my mind when working out is to burn those calories I inhaled that day…even when I was single that was the only thing I had on my mind.

RE: ROC House Fitness Spa, I hope much success for it, although I know I will not be going there, somebody will find it to their delight.

RE; my hair, I don’t workout when I have to color my hair. I’m not concerned about washing it, heck I wash it every night and If by chance I couldn’t wash it then it’s done the next morning. I can’t stand stinky hair.

Hello all.

When I go to the gym it strictly to work out, not looking for anything else. Now I do see what can be assumed to be pickups going on, but since I’m not in the conversation I really don’t know.

people sweat all over the place and no one wipes the machines off–gross– that’s an easy one to take care of, I wipe off before and after.

I have membership at a Ladies only gym….I don’t need to feel some kind of way about how i look or worried about folks trying to ‘holla’ while i’m getting my workout on. When I do go, I enjoy the pressure free atmosphere. A friend of mine gave me a free week’s pass to LA (Club) Fitness and I’m not sure i’ll ever use it. I’m sure they have more amenities than my current gym but it’s not that serious to me.

I can never drag my tail out of bed to work out in the early morning. I hear ppl say they work out at 5 or even 6 am but I just can’t do it, I like my late evening work out. Do my cardio, light weight lifting alternating ldays of unges and squats. does a body good! I never got into zumba either but that would require me joining a gym.

I know I am not the only one who goes to the gym to look cute and be seen, right? – I know I’m different, but I don’t go to the gym to look cute and be seen. I go just to burn some calories and tone up. Trying to meet someone there is the last thing on my mind. Not only that, I don’t spend money on matching gym gear. Sweats, tee-shirts and sneakers are fine with me. I don’t need a banging outfit to sweat up. It’s not necessary (for me).

Good morning.

When I hit the treadmill, I LOVE to go around 7:00 ish…so I can watch Family Feud and Steve Harvey. I’m not a fan of his book, but he’s funny and can get away with pretty much any kind of joke, and he operates with class while hosting. Naturally each treadmill (and some of the other machines) have tv screens. In order to hear you must have earplugs. I am yelling out the answers and laughing (as in laughing out loud) at his jokes, and I’m say “yeeees” if I get one right or get the number one answer.

In all of this, rarely do I notice anyone else….and at the Buckhead Y, it’s packed most of the time I’m there. Like I said every now and again someone will catch my eye, but that’s for a hot sec and that’s cause they walked past or across me. I’m not on a mission though, scouting cuties. Also, sometimes my boo goes and some folks are regular. I imagine it wouldn’t be too good to be hooking up with folks and put on blast because of such.

the female only gym isn’t a new concept. I will admit I always figured it was for the really overweight or insecure types. the ones who were uncomfortable with their bodies and didn’t want anyone to see them. I would never pay money to join a “girl gym”. uhn uhn.

also, I don’t deny having been that chick that went all out on the gym. all new everything. I was gym fly and proud of it. lol.

He brings his iPad and watches “black videos.” He’s so “into it” that he’s almost dancing, while walking. Yeah, I do notice him cause he’s dramatic and almost funny with it. I can hear him singing and see his screen. He might want to audition…lol

And then, I’m grossed out at those dudes who “live” in the gym, all swollen and stuff. That ain’t appealing! They bodies start to look weird, like an overbuffed top heavy cartoon character. At that point someone needs a distraction from the gym. Especially the personal trainers. They’re at the gym eight days a week and consumed with “fitness.” That mess is a turn off. Nicely tuned body is good but overbuffed, too buffed, scary looking buffed is too much.

GOOD Tuesday Morning MIA!!! :-)

I don’t get all dolled up to go to the gym. I prefer to workout in an environment where somewhere is NOT trying to get my number or is purposely checking me out. I know everyone has their own agenda for going to the gym, but when I go, I’m going for the purpose of actually working out.

Good morning everybody!

I wouldn’t mind going to a women’s only gym. I think that would take the edge off.

I go to LA Fitness. I only wear makeup to the gym if I’m going right after work. Other than that I just dress to be comfortable and at least half way decent. I honestly feel more self-conscious at LA Fitness than I did at Planet Fitness in Decatur. I don’t see how people can pick people up at gyms/fitness centers. Egos tend to be high and sensitive. I just get in, do my cardio/weight training, and get out.

Morning All!!!

Baby girl is back in business, thank goodness!! Appreciate all of your blog well wishes yesterday.

On topic – No, the ladies only gym is not a new concept. It’s a great idea for those that don’t want the club atmosphere alot of regular gyms that are open to the general public have. I joined a LA fitness some years back. Went about 3 times. You could call me insecure or whatever, but I probably could not have dated a guy I met at a gym, or approached one. When I did go, it was for a purpose – to get fit and healthy. I would be presentable, but no not looking my best. If I thought I looked that great in tight biker shorts or other workout clothes, I would not be at the gym! Frankly, the real swole dudes never really did it for me. The nice, fit guys do look great, but usually seem to go for the female equivalent. I was not that lady.

So hooking up at the gym was not my thing, just like church was not either. I came to worship, not meet a guy. Some churches have that “club” atmosphere. But hey, it definitely works for some so I’m not knocking it.

I got to where I would work out at the company gym sometimes. Then I got my own treadmill at home. I have a bike I would ride around my subdivision and I’ve always loved walking. Now my husband and I have our own home gym. I also go walking while I wait for daughter during soccer practice.
