Love for the city

My friends at Yelp Atlanta invited me to one of their super fun Forever Yelp Loves Atlanta events this week.  All month long , Yelp Atlanta has been showing the city some love.  I got to check out the Waffle House museum and got some pretty interesting history about the company! Sidebar: Did you know the T-Bone steak was not on the menu originally?  Apparently, Filet Mignon was the first steak but when they ran out one day, they substituted T-Bone – and it was a hit! Also, Chick-Fil-A once sold breakfast items at Waffle House stores.  Can you imagine?

Yelp Atlanta’s  Forever Yelp Loves Atlanta really reminded me about the love I once had for this city.  When I first moved here I was smitten.  Now seeing all the cool things and places Atlanta has to offer, I am glad to say the love for the city has been renewed!

Aside from our crazy, sexy, cool dating scene, what do you love about Atlanta?  What is your favorite place to meet single people?  If you had the entire day to hang out in the city, how would you spend it?

Happy Friday! Thank you for following the Misadventures in Atlanta blog, I really appreciate the MIA Blog community!

I do not live in Atlanta, but I love going. Its kind of sad that in a state as big as GA everything is only in one area of it.

GOOD Friday Morning MIA!!! :-)

I LOVE Atlanta first and foremost because it’s my birthplace, YES I’m a PROUD Grady Baby, LOL!!! I LOVE the AUC, especially Clark Atlanta University, for that is where I graduated with my Bachelor’s Degree and Homecoming is ALWAYS on point. I LOVE the variety of shopping opportunities (Perimeter Mall) and ALL of the delicious places to eat, way too many to name! I LOVE that there is an NBA & NFL team on site where I can go and enjoy the games and tailgate. There is always something going on, and that in itself opens the door of opportunity for meeting people IF you actually get out and go the events, LOL! Live music, concerts, Six Flags (I love rollercoasters) & Atlantic Station are just a few things that I LOVE about Atlanta. The one thing I don’t love is the traffic, but hey that comes along with the territory. One day, I do want to move back. :-D

my sleep is all jacked up! been up since about 2′ish.

the first thing I love about the south/atl is everywhere I turn I see African americans. :) gas stations, grocery stores, the mall, every red light, the schools… black folks in abundance! being raised in CA (valley) since the age of 1, I felt so overwhelmed and blessed at the same time. I had no problem with dating. the harvest was ripe LOL!

too bad I didn’t find a husband. but that’s okay, because I would have had to live there. I know for a fact they wouldn’t have moved back here with me. but I appreciate the experience and the heritage there.

good morning Girlie! how are you?

you’re right! I actually think he’s right under my nose and i’m just being stubborn. but one of them, his name is John… when John found out that I had left, he was the only one that wanted to come and visit me. but I had a attitude. you want to come way out here to visit me, but barely seen me when I lived 30 mins away?? that didn’t sit well with me at all. I let him go.

Morning
I love Atlanta…obviously since it’s my second time living here. Atlanta has some really spectacular places to eat. I like trying all the different restaurants. There’s always something to do, whatever your taste. I’m still exploring. And I can’t forget the abundance of gorgeous, intelligent, successful women.

I LOVE the AUC, especially Clark Atlanta University, for that is where I graduated with my Bachelor’s Degree and Homecoming is ALWAYS on point.
MoniLuv Much love to CAU. When I was at The House I was at CAU ALL the time…I’m sure you can imagine why. lol Homecoming is around the corner!

I met Mr.Current at an event. Not something planned or intentional. I have to be honest, even before meeting him, I can’t say that I went to places “seeking someone.” Shoot, I’m a home body. Yes, we do things together and me likey :) , but if I’m not seeing someone, I don’t frequent places looking for hookups. I might hang out with my gfs a time or two, but that’s to cop a squat, break bread and catch up. IMO, going places to meet someone is sort of a “younger crowd” thing. Okay I know I’m not old, but IJS.

In my experience, it always seemed the harder you look, nothing ever produced. I mean yeah, I’ve met a few scalawags and undesirables (lol) while attending some function say with friends or waaaay back when we’d hit the clubs folks might ask you to dance, but c’mon you definitely didn’t want to do anything beyond dancing with some of those dudes. For me, it’s been when you’re not looking or thinking about it, BAM…right there…in front of you. And funny cause some of those times, you just throw on any ole thing, don’t sweat your hair, do the Publix run and end up talking with someone in line or at the meat counter…lol

Now as far as the City Atlanta goes, to me it’s just home :) I guess I’d have to go away awhile and come back to see all this “hotness” transplants and foreigners say we have :)

First and foremost, I love that it doesn’t snow here often. Hate, hate snow!

I love Atlanta because it’s a melting pot, there’s a little something different at almost every turn. Little Five Points has always interested in. A very eclectric group of people migrate there and it’s a great place to people watch. Atlanta has great venues for concerts, wish Lithonia Ampitheatre still existed. I had boat loads of fun there.

random: re yesterday’s galaxy S4 conversation. last night I saw the commercial where dude was in the airport (or somewhere) and folks were sweating his phone. lol.

slim – if it ever came to that we’d be some black market, back alley, trunk shopping fools. now I will say that up north you aren’t as quick to find grits on the menu in a lot of restaurants as you are down south. that one trips my mother out every time. she’s like they serve grits with every meal down this piece.

Ice coffee is gross. Folks seem to love it though. Frankly, I think only because Starbucks is the lastest craze in coffee that it’s popular. Before SBs came along, folks threw out cold coffee. That is sooo gross

Morning Everyone!!

Happy Birthday Wise Diva!!!!

On topic – I am one of the few natives and very proud!! I was a Hughes Spalding Baby, right there next door to Grady! The older I got and more traveling I did, I realized just how fortunate I was to grow up in such a fabulous place. My parents were accomplished and great role models and they associated with people of equal greatness. I like to say I got a chance to “walk among giants”. Humble people that just wanted to make the city, and the world a better place for our people. The history, the culture are unmatched in my book. Growing up we were encouraged to shoot for the stars and do great things and not settle for just good enough. White collar/blue collar, it did not matter.

I know all that might seem corny, but it’s very real to me. I love traveling, but it is always good to come back home to the ATL!
