Believe in love at first sight?

I consider myself a romantic and hardcore believer in true love.  That being said, I don’t know if I buy into the idea that you can fall in love at first sight.  Have I seen incredibly beautiful men and swooned?  Absolutely. Did I want to pledge eternal love forever, ever (ever? ever?) – not so much.

I have heard people say that they knew the moment they laid eyes on their love.  I just question what that really means?  Can you actually fall in love with someone after one meeting? Is it the kind of love that lasts?  What if you fall for the image or idea of that person? What happens when their actual personality is revealed?

Maybe I am cynical but is love at first sight really possible?  Have you ever experienced it?

I never experienced love at first sight, lust yes but never love. I don’t think it is possible to fall in love at first sight. Some people love the idea of love and will pretend everything is wonderful. lol I don’t think i know anyone that this happened to.

Hello All

Maybe I am cynical but is love at first sight really possible? Anything is possible. Just because it’s never happened to you doesn’t mean it’s never happened.

Is it the kind of love that lasts? HUH?? no kind of love is guaranteed!!

Have you ever experienced it? Yep

Maybe we need to define ‘Love at first sight’ and see how that is different from ‘Lust at first sight’.

Is it love at first sight because the feeling was mutual at that first meeting, and it led to a long term relationship?

Maybe these single relationship experts can tell me.

Good morning gang!

GOOD Friday Morning MIA!!! :-D

I agree in Single & Happy in that just because it’s never happened to you doesn’t mean it’s never happened or that it isn’t possible.

Once upon a time I met a man and from 1st sight I KNEW there was something special about him. I found out later that he felt the same way about me. We went on to have a WONDERFUL relationship and he absolutely LOVED me to pieces!!! He was the BEST boyfriend that I’ve ever had to date. That was over 10 years ago, (and yes I’ve been in relationships after him) but I haven’t felt loved like that since.

I’m EXCITED about what’s to come!!! :-)

Good morning! I consider myself a romantic and hardcore believer in true love–So am I!!!

Although I’ve never experienced love at first sight, I have experienced the you are the one from first sight from my late husband. He told me that within minutes of meeting me he knew I was the one he would have as his wife. My heart still flatters when I think back on that conversation.

I do believe in love at first sight. I’ve read stories of it happening all the time.
Isn’t there a story in the Bible about Jacob and Rebecca.

I’ve never experienced love at first sight, nor have I see Big Foot or any UFO’s. So basically, that doesn’t mean that the next person hasn’t. I can’t really wrap my head around stating I actually LOVE and am IN love with a stranger I just happen to catch in my sights….not even after a conversation. But stranger things have happened.

I’ve had lust at first sight plenty of times

Is it the kind of love that lasts? once the dopamine/phenylethylamine fades and you still have love for that person then it’s true love. dopamine chemicals in our brains is a hellava drug!

good morning y’all. I’m not even the romantic type and I believe it’s possible. if someone told me they fell in love at first sight I’d probably be skeptical but that’s just my nature. my being skeptical doesn’t change their truth.

ooh moni – don’t do that. why that’s gotta be a soft side? all I’m saying is that just because I don’t believe it doesn’t mean it ain’t so. lol. just the other day a guy called me. I answer the phone and he goes “oh you sound chipper today”. immediately I went into sound pissed off mode. had to tell him it’s not his job to monitor my moods. yeah. I’m funny acting like that. lol.

Morning All!

I do not believe it is possible to fall in love at first sight; lust, but not love. That said, I agree with Button that you can believe someone is special at first sight (meeting though, not really sight), but love will develop from there.

Slim- Your post made me think of the fool that was dressed as Big Foot trying to start a sightings report frenzy and was hit by a car. I felt guilty laughing because he died, but the whole idea was just so preposterous.

hey button.

C – the way I see it if you can have familial love at first sight and you consider that many of us have family members that we love but can’t stand, loving a random somebody can’t be that far a stretch for some folks. lol.

moni – it’s cool. I tell y’all I’m funny acting. I can be in a perfectly good mood and as soon as someone says “you’re in a goo mood today” I start feeling some kind of way. lol.

Never been in love at first sight, but I lean toward that phrase meaning when they first lay eyes on each other something happens with their brains at the same time. A short circuit only they two can feel. That first conversation lets them know they have “IT.” That “it” they both been looking for. Now, they’re willing to go through the peaks and valleys with each other getting to the know who they really are.

Good morning, good morning!

Button – I’ve only seen a few of them because I was sitting there like, Yeah Right. But there have been a few “Final Destintation” deaths lately. Man drives on highway out near where I live and a tree falls on top of his truck and kills him….a lady is driving on the highway, a trucks tire flies off and over the median wall and crashes on top of the her car, kills her. Another person driving and a tree falls on top of their car, kills them. Two cars get into an accident. The person in the car in the rear get’s out to check on the car they hit, and they end up getting hit by another car, and dies. Crazy crazy crazy…You just never know

button – re live by the sword. I grew up with a guy who was out there. you name some foolishness and he survived it. house fires, car crashes, gun shots, being stabbed with ice picks. we joked that he was going to die from a hangnail infection or something crazy like that. eventually he met the bullet that got the best of him.
