When do you bring up marriage?

One of our readers wanted to get advice about when she should bring up the marriage topic.  She has been dating her boyfriend for less than a year and feels pretty confident about things.  This is why she is anxious to start talking about a future.  She just doesn’t want to bring the one to bring it up!

Do you believe that a woman who talks about marriage too soon is a turn off to men?  What if he is already thinking of her as his future spouse?

In my experiences, marriage usually makes its way into conversations rather organically.  I don’t remember being the one to bring it up.  Admittedly, there was a period that I was no interested in marriage at all, so I sort of avoided that when I could.

If you are really excited about a possible future with someone, can bringing marriage into the forefront actually delay or derail a relationship?

Should you drop hints or subtle comments about marriage to get the discussion going?

-Leggs I’m very picky about my ketchup but Aldi’s does pass the test.

The bags of shrimp for $4.99 is a huge FAV of mine!!!

Their BBQ sauce is good, too. Matter of fact, I grilled some of their burgers and BBQd some of their porkchops yesterday. I like to cook for the week ahead on Sunday……

When yall shop at Publix, do you let the bagger take the groceries to your car for you?

Celisea – Maybe you’re right. One probably needs to work up to a real badonkadonk.

Leggs – We don’t have Big Bear here in Alabama, so, I wouldn’t know about them. But Aldi, and sometimes WalMart, are more than adequate.

ITL – I had some grilled hamburgers and weenies yesterday too. Mmmm mmmm good. I’ll be eating leftovers tonight for sure. And there is nothing like a great grilled weenie and a pickle on the side ;-)

SlimNu – The only way my wife will go to Publix, is they have to be practically giving sheet away. I won’t go at all. Stuff’s too high. Even I can see that.

dag. I’ve been going to aldi for years and years and y’all got me thinking about all the stuff it’s never occurred to me to try. lol. I’m one of those “super couponers” so I get a big kick out of hitting the regular stores for my coupon stuff. condiments are generally one of those things you never have to pay for if you coupon. right up there with toothpaste. lol.

reio – I think I’m allergic to walmart.

slim / itl – I got around to making my houseburgers on Saturday. boy oh boy is all I can say about that.

disco – Go to their website, and check out the sales. You can even put in your zip code to see what’s on sale at the nearest store. My wife got me hooked. Wouldn’t have looked into it, had it not been for her.

SlimNu – Nothing against Publix, mind you. They’ve been around a while and are financially sound. Must be doing something right. And, truth be told, they have their place. They’ve earned it. They just won’t see me in there. And that’s no lie.

Exactly, MissMoni. Very, very picky about my ketchup. Even their syrup is good and so is their pancake batter. And, you know those Rice-A-Roni rice boxes? Well, Aldi has more rice in their boxes and they’re more flavorful.

Big Bear used to be Winn-Dixie, now it’s Big Bear. It’s an old store, but you want a nice roast, that’s the place to go. I needed a roast that would feed about 7 ppl. Kroger, Publix all wanted $45, $38, $32 and their roasts were light pink (tough). Give me a deep red w/not too much fat. Got a plump one from Big Bear for $17. The most I’ve ever spent on a roast and it was delicious, tender and didn’t shrink!!

Reio – I totally understand…i think folks go to different stores for different purposes. That’s just like Target versus Walmart…they are pricier but definitely more clean. However, if I need a whole bunch of household items, I go to wally world. I do not want to pay more for something if I don’t need to, depending on what it is.

Afternoon All!

Figured I would check in before going to the airport to go back home. On topic- I think if you are dating with marrage in mind, you need to let that be known early on. I’m not saying show for the first date in a wedding gown, but definitely after a few months. I have had more thanone girlfriend tell me they are waiting for the guy to put a ring on it and the guy is still calling them his “friend” after a couple of years. Seems to me, y’all need to have a talk rather than you waiting around for years when you know you want to get maried and have kids.

O/T- I like Aldi. I keep bags in my trunk so I have them available when I go to Aldi. I haven’t yet tried the ketchup, but I will now. I will also stay away from the cream of mushroom soup; thanks.

Reio- They do give stuff away at Pubix. I love it! They have BOGO every week. You don’t have to buy two, they will just take half off one item. Also, you can stack your coupons to use a store coupon and a manufacturer coupon. I make out like a fat cat when I go there.

Leggs – Winn-Dixie wasn’t sheet either. Stayed out of there as well. Sheet too high. A couple of in house brands were ok, but all in all, not worth the visit. Glad they went under.

reio – oh. thought I missed something. I’m good with aldi. I live near two of them and so go when the mood strikes or when necessity creeps up on me. like I said, I’m a couponer and several mainstream stores near me double and triple coupons so that’s where I get my grocery store rocks off.

slim – I have a friend who clowned me because I buy everything (cleaning supplies, laundry detergent, dish liquid, etc) at the grocery store. I’m that chick who walks out of the grocery store with $100 worth of stuff for $25 or $30 dollars.

I’m waiting on someone to say piggly wiggly. never mind. I just did. lol.

I’ve seen folks in passing, eyes met, talked while in line. My only recollection (in this momemt), was a dude that looked at me a looong time, while in Publix once. I was looking good too (toot toot) :) I’d JUST dropped about 20 pounds, was fresh and clean, had on a pair of sexy Cole Haans thongs sandals, hair laid…. Buddy looked a long time. I don’t know, I couldn’t speak…I was at a lost for words. But he looked and I can tell you he was probably about 10 years younger than me. Don’t think he knew that though.

And while I’m speaking on looking fresh (well not really), I just had an old coworker that I see all the time in the building, just realize I’ve been wearing my hair shorter. She said on the elevator “you cut your hair?” Well, ummm, it’s been what about 2 years now???

Okay, I’m rambling and I can hear someone thinking (she loves to talk about herself)… Well, that was the question from disco wasn’t it. I’m just cutting up and funning…

For real, later folks have a good evening!!
