Social media mistakes

In the last few months,  I have watched a couple of situations unfold on social media that basically squashed any chance of a happy relationship.   From Instagram photos causing a serious rift with a married couple – to Facebook comments becoming a problem for a single guy.  Social media mistakes are more common on the dating scene these  days.

Why do you think so many people get into hot water with social media?  So many things are misconstrued and misinterpreted. You would think that exercising good judgment would be the way to go, right?  Common sense seems to be not so common!

Have you ever dumped someone because of a social media mistake?  Has anyone ever questioned you about your own actions  on social media?

Do you think we will ever figure out how to navigate social media without destroying our potential romances?

I just wish my ‘good judgement’ would make me as rich as Kim Kiard and be as famous as ‘ I hit it First!’

Ohh well…MIA won’t allow me to pictorially brag about my ample package!

So no mistakes for me there!!

Don’t add someone you are dating to your social media sites. All is solved.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone.

Just like with THIS social media, don’t put anything out there that you wouldn’t want to come back on you.

Hello peepsykins,

Good point, Lee I am proud to say, no social media issues. The secret to my marriage is keep private, and all others away. Social media does not belong in my personal life. Maybe some people should get a life.

You can get anything said without saying too much or the wrong thing. Like I’ve said before and like no different than others, I mention harmless things. Shoes, clothes, shopping, meals, events, funtimes, etc etc etc In spite if insinuations like someone TRRRIED to say…lol… I’m a lady with mine. I don’t drop names, I don’t run in clicks and circles, I don’t talk crass nor filthy, I don’t talk size or “ding a lings”, I don’t invite others in with me and my boo and I dang show ain’t bringing my private life to gatherings and meet-ups. All in the content and all in fun.

Just because a person have “going ons” and SOMETHING to chat about versus someone that GOTS nothing, naturally they’ll try to spin it with “ya talk too much”……don’t be mad cause ain’t nothing tell….lolololol

Again, I’m a lady with mine. I talk much about trivial, I don’t do trashy and aside from this social site and passing the day, I too busy for junk like FB. And no way am I knocking anyone that see social media as their lifeline or favorite thing to do or their “just gotta have it.”

Gotta get dressed for work. BBL

Good morning! I don’t have fb, instagram, tumblr or any connection to any media site well except for blogging. As Lee stated, don’t add dates to your account, that might work but if they happen to search you wouldn’t some things pop up? unless you have your settings private.

I read earlier this week a husband stabbed his wife numerous times because she “liked” something on facebook. Just sad and crazy.

Morning All!

While I have not dumped anyne for social media mistakes, I must say that I have been privy to some social media bombs. My ex and his mistress were both my FB friends and they started getting sloppy right around the time I “discovered” them. After I left him, he got bold and posted any and everything on FB amd Twitter which gave good evidence when they went after his license.
I do not put anything on social media that can bite me in the butt. I use common sense, which like MIA said does not appear to be so common nowadays. I don’t post pictures of my tail on FB, nor do I put all of my business on there.

Good morning, all!

I FB, but I use it mainly to keep up with family and friends. But the quickest way to get defriended by me is to go on a rant or air your laundry. Nope. Ain’t nobody got time for that!

I read the other day that a bigamist was caught due to FB. Evidently, one wife showed up on the others “People You Might Know” list…..

FB is an ad. Linked In, a nuisance. Twitter is for folks that are up to no good.

But, these avenues are like anything else, a tool. If you live your life a certain way, it’ll come out no matter the venue.

So ultimately, folks are gonna get caught up, the only difference is, they’re doing it publicly so that your mutual “friends” can see their behavior.

Why do you think so many people get into hot water with social media? – Because they’re STUPID.

Social media should be used to connect with friends and family you don’t get a chance to see on a regular basis. It shouldn’t be used as a message board documenting your every move, bullying people or stalking. Chat with those you want to chat with and leave it at that. Dating status updates is childish. Single, Married, Complicated, keep it to yourself.

I FB, but usually once a week (Scandalites unite). The most talking I do on social media is on this blog.

Good morning!

@Leggs

Messy people are messy people. The way they express/experience/get caught in their “messy” ness, is all that social media is.

Since FB began, some knew how to get caught up in the foolishness and some knew (better) how to stay out of it, same as in real life. Sloppy pimpin is jess sloppy.

Morning
Most aspects of a person’s life aren’t mutually exclusive. So, if they make “social media mistakes”, then they probably make similar type mistakes in other aspects of their lives. Their dirt was coming out either way. The converse is also true. Responsible, standup people are that way in all aspects of their life, whether it’s social media or otherwise.

Hey Gang!

I have not been on my FB page in a few years. It was funny, because I got a message from FB saying “so and so updated his FB status to say that the two of you are engaged. Is this true?” Hubs also added our wedding pic to his page. That’s the extent of our FBing.

Like some others have said on here, this blog is the extent of my participation in social media.

I agree with Dan & Dreams, basically if you’re sloppy in one area of your life, you’re sloppy in others.

I asked one of my best friends about a mutual friend of ours. She said the friend was doing fine, but that she & her hubs are now divorced, been about a year. She said she found out about his cheating because he did not realize she was still on the cell phone and thought he had clicked over to his buddy. Dude went into graphic detail about his sexual escapades with another chick the night before.

Dan – I usually use FB to play games or whatever, but I was JUST thinking the other day that Linkedin is starting to get on my nerves. I hardly ever log into there but for some reason, as of late, I’ve been getting more notifications or activity from others. And with Twitter, I don’t even go there. Never signed up and don’t see myself signing up for that. Social media overload

Talk about social media mistakes……Wuzzup with this “Mug shot on line” shiid! If you have been arrested in the last 8 or 9 years, your picture and charge is most likely online. You have to pay the sites to have them removed. What a racket. I thought of an old girlfriend recently and goggled her name. Found her mug shot. She was charged with public assistance fraud 6 years ago. She graduated from Howard with an accounting degree, but she kept a side hustle. Baby gurl was not looking too good.

kimmie This happens with people like him all the time. People feel sorry for them and rationalize that they need the help more. I was in grad school with a girl who was really bright and had it together. She had a sister who always had issues though. The parents would do everything to help the younger sister get her life together. The few rare occasions when the older sister needed a hand, the parents didn’t help. She was upset and asked her parents about it, and they rationalized it by saying they knew she didn’t really need their help because she always had her stuff together. She felt like she lived a good life, obeyed/respected her parents, made good choices, but when she needed a little push, she couldn’t get one. That used to really bother her.

Kimmie?

What is a ‘real’ need honestly?

I don’t have any family proximity to drug abuse but a drug addict does not really know how to help themselves honestly..based on what I read. The easiest thing one can do is Never start because once u get hooked to drugs,u are hooked. It’s like tasting Mcdiee fries(not belittling drug use at All here)..but close.

In his drugged mind,DMX thinks he is trying.

I just read recent of an English soccer legend(those who follow soccer) getting flown to the states because the guy could not help himself. His pals in the soccer fraternity actually did that for him, chartering a plane etc because guy has gone to the dogs because of drug use.

The folk in the rap world(the billionaire Jay Z uall talking about) need to help each other.
They have no pension schemes etc like they do in the NFL and NBA …corporations(associations run by white folks,I must say) which speaks of financial acumen.

The enlightened black folk in music need to take the lead( do the) same rather than just line pockets without uplifting each other and fellow community.

yea,I threw some bones(racial) there!
Coffee!
