Best (worst) online dating profiles

A reader of our blog decided to give online dating a try. He is brand new to the whole process and wants to know what women notice as good, bad, or ugly. It’s been a hundred years since I’ve tried it, so I’m admittedly a tad rusty. Maybe you could give some tips to help the brave man?

I remember thinking that half the men on dating sites were likely married, living with a woman, or in federal prison. Sometimes these types get bored and starved for attention. Therefore, if there was no picture, I bypassed immediately. I don’t care how witty the profile was, either.

I think that trying to be too funny or verbose can come across kind of dull. You can’t be Seth McFarlane in a dating profile. Leave the comedy to the professionals, please. A sense of humor is great, though! Wait. I don’t think I’m helping much, here!

What are the best and worst online dating profiles you have seen?

What would make you take a closer look at one? Do women have to be virtually buttnaked and wearing heels to get a response? Do men have to flaunt their success and rave about wealth to keep a woman’s attention? (I know. Totally stereotyping genders – you get my point, though!)

Should you include pictures of your children?

Other than a boatload of patience (Carnival cruise, anyone?) and great internet connection, what will you absolutely need to manage online dating?

HAPPY FRIDAY!

Disco, take that cruise

Slim, refund my money, give me 500, and a free cruise, hell I’ll be happy :-D but I’m willing to bet in the fine print of those contracts that we never read, Carnival has a way out of this.

disco – C – yep. it is a lot of water but I think standing on deck looking out at all that water and seeing 2, 3, 4 other cruise ships off in the distance was a very humbling experience

I get my humbling from the window of a plan. Plus, I get there quicker :)

single – I was discussing it with my mother. if the mishap occurred toward the end of the cruise I’d be more likely to be okay with it. I won’t lie. a mishap on day 1 or day 2 would really have me feeling some kind of way. like you though, I’m all for a full refund, some extra cash and a free future cruise. deplorable conditions? lol. I grew up in deplorable conditions. lol. I can make it.

C – I’m not saying flight isn’t humbling in it’s own way but it’s definitely not the same experience. from a plane window you don’t really get that panorama view. you don’t get to look up, out, across, down. out there on the ocean is real.

My best friend called me last night talking about taking his mom and nephew on a cruise soon and I said “even after the most recent event?” He knew nothing about it and was mad at me for telling him. He told me that he’s going anyways!

disco – That’s okay, I’m good with that. I’ll get all the panaramic I need from the beach. I will look left, right and forward. Can’t say behind because the resort will be situated there :) Please I get queasy REAL easily. Yeah yeah yeah I know about Dramamine. Just book a flight and I’m good.

bluz – pay attention to the travel rotation. it’s a cycle. the trains jump the track, the buses go off the road, the planes start crashing and that’s if they even get off the ground. and that’s just the big stuff that folks are scared of. same people think nothing of getting in their car everyday never knowing which day you might get broadsided and go up in flames. my only point – don’t be scared.

Bluz, since you feel that way, why wouldn’t you go, more people will die on the streets of Atl, today than people on that cruise, but you will still drive wherever you want to go and not think twice about it.

I’m just timid about a cruise because I have anxiety and if that were to happen, I would flip the f*ck out!!! I still want to go on a cruise one day, but it may be a long time from now…I’d rather it be on a brand new ship! :-)

Bluz, and a brand new ship doesn’t have problems (Titanic) Bluz you’ll probably be more likely to get motion sickness from a plane than you would from a cruise ship, from what I’ve heard unless you go near the railing, you won’t even know you’re moving. But on a plane, there are always a few bumps.

Bluz ~ I got sick the last night of the cruise. It was horrible. The boat was violently rocking. People crying and throwing up in the hallways. Last night was a bad night.

I do hate flying, but can tolerate it now that I have anti-anxiety meds. The worst part for me is actually getting on the plane! Once up in the air, I’m fine!

I want to start with a really short cruise to make sure I like it. I’m afraid I would get claustrophobic…maybe not since they are so big. I’m more likely to cause myself anxiety just from building it up! LOL

Naw,just playing Leggs.

So I came to the emergency room coz junior fell at the playground at school and hurt his wrist. I am getting it checked coz he was wincing and crying.
Anyhoo we waiting in the wait room after coming from the x-ray. We pass by two chics(sisters maybe, friends) also waiting in there.

They (one of them)start chatting up my boy and I’m sitting right next. The other chic meanwhile is just scoping me,smiles but she ain’t saying none.

So rhe chatty light skinned one asks me what happened, coz junior wasn’t talking(he is a shy boy). So I tell her what happened…

Some silence for a couple of minutes….they’re talking between themselves.

Finally, light skinned turns around towards us and asks:

Whatchuall wearing that’s smelling so nice??

I am not even sure…and we been called back in

I let her know if u still here,I’ll proly have an answer for u… queen will tell me.

@disco..u think she like my whiff and is using my son as an accessory to aid her?

Bluz – I, like you, am very prone to motion sickness. Growing up I would get car sick on long car rides, not many rides I could get on at 6 Flags, and planes would make me a little sick as well. As I’ve gotten older, it’s gotten alot better, but I cannot get on anything that spins around or rocks too much and I cannot read in the car.

I can handle a plane pretty well now. As far as cruises, the bigger the ship the better – less rocking. But if you hit rough water, beware. I would suggest getting one of those Dramamine patches. I got very sick on the last cruise I took the 1st night because we hit very rough waters and I was late taking my Dramamine. Someone on the crew suggested I eat a green apple and went back to the kitchen and got me a few. Believe it or not, it worked!!

Don’t let the news scare you. You can’t live life that way, and cruises can be wonderful and a lot of fun. Choose a nice one.

kimmie – as a kid, I could read in the car no problem and now…I get sick almost immediately! I also can’t ride in the back seat when certain people drive. Dramamine patch is a good idea!!! I forgot about that. It does work well.

I use to get car sick from riding in between 7 other kids/sibs or in the back of that big ole hot station wagon….lol I was the “littliest”, so I got tossed in the back. I got queasy riding Marta. I’m feeling “ugh” just thinking about it. Those hot buses and the fumes. I’ve laid down a time of two, cause if it was heading to school, I was nearly the last to get off i.e. end of the line, or getting back home a country mile away, i.e. getting off at the end of the line. I’m talking when I was in h.s. at this point. I would DREAD it everyday, make that trek across town. And then on the clock my mama gave me….lololol

@BluzGirl it depends on who you are going on the cruise with, the smile I put on your face, mind, heart and spirit will make you forget all about your anxiety. Now regarding the motion we would have a lot of motion in the ocean going on…Yes we would…lol

Oh I would bring some dubbies/Red Bud, Mexico Gold that always calms the nerves…

@Disco…Do not forget meteors raining down on Russia… What’s next on the list….
