What makes a woman sexy?

After Beyonce rocked the halftime show at the Super Bowl, I have heard a lot of people comment about her sex appeal. It’s always so interesting to see what people classify as beautiful and sexy. Especially when it comes to what is sexy for women of color, the standard of beauty seems different.

Many people believe that attractiveness and beauty is subjective, but what about sex appeal? Have you ever met someone who just seem to ooze sex appeal? Something about the way they carried themselves or their confidence that grabs your attention.

What do you consider sexy? What makes a woman sexy? What makes a man sexy? Do you think there is such a thing as being too sexy? Too provocative?

Now the hook up requests I feel are jokey jokes.

Kerry – I just don’t hear many MEN talking about “complimenting their skin tone”. I like a well-dressed man myself, not the bad-boy rapper thing, but at the same time I don’t want a guy that primps more than I do either.

By “complementing skin tone” I meant, for example, browns look good on a light brown skin tone like mine, that’s all. Obviously you got the wrong, unintended message… :=)

@BluzGirl…That would not be the route I would take, I would invite you to have a conversation with me first in order to get to know you. On the blog I like to make jokes, nothing serious. If I was coming after you my approach would be totalling different.

Kerry – not that we are tag teaming but it sounds like you are trying to go back and clean up. even knowing what you meant kimmie was simply stating that most men don’t even talk about such issues. I can’t even imagine hearing a man talking about he was going out looking for a shirt/tie/suit/whatever to compliment his skin tone. he might make sure it compliments his skin tone but he won’t be talking about it.

T shirt with holes? like cigarette burn holes or knife holes? as for dressing to complement one’s skin tone (for a man) I’ve heard that more than a few times. Just because you haven’t heard it said doesn’t mean it’s not being said or done.

disco, “he might make sure it compliments his skin tone but he won’t be talking about it.” What’s the difference between wanting to make sure something compliments one’s skin tone and talking about it?

The fact that he wants to make sure it complements his skin tone doesn’t make him metro, but talking about it does? Talking about it is just putting your thoughts into words. I wanted to give you guys the whole picture, which is why I “talked” about it… :=)

To be quite frank and honest, I was being nice in saying metro. You asked Kerry, sorry you didn’t like the responses! You wanted insight for why these chicks are bailing, I told you what I thought, just making convo, don’t really care. My man is well-dressed and professional, but metro he’s not, not that there is anything wrong with being metro or otherwise. Metro does come off as a bit effeminate to me, but hey, do you.

Yeah, it does. A manly man will be a manly man, conscious of his appearance, but not running his mouth about it. A metrosexual will be concerned with his appearance like a woman would and getting bent out of shape about it!!!

button – we get it. we do. (excuse me kimmie if I’m speaking for you). all we are saying is that even though men do take care of themselves and their appearance (and that is a good thing) there are certain aspects of that that men just do, they don’t discuss. now, if they do discuss them with friends, family, girlfriends, whatever. that’s all good. but there are some women (myself included and perhaps kimmie) that are going to side eye the fellow that is talking too much about his “fashion and beauty” habits. simply said, it’s not a good look.

Ah, Button, I agree! Heterosexual men shouldn’t have to look like crap just because they are sterotyped as metro or gay (in media and in society in general).

kimmie, I just thought you just focused on that one phrase and missed the entire gist of my post, that’s all. By the way, I have never gotten a manicure or pedicure. I cut my own nails (now don’t tell me that’s metro lol)

Well Kerry, with the picture you painted, we gave you what those chicks might be thinking. It sounds like you’re going beyond just taking pride in your appearance, to them. It’s to the point they are suggesting you go to the complete other side of the spectrum. Either that, or you need to upgrade your selection process and find ladies who can appreciate what you have to offer.

We’re pretty blunt in here!

guess we are on two teams re this matter. personally, I don’t think it’s a communication issue though. just because a man doesn’t tell me about his “daily constitutional” doesn’t mean he couldn’t if he wanted to. lol.
