Dating: What happened to creativity?

One of the common complaints I hear about dating in Atlanta is the complete lack of creativity. From the way single people approach each other – to the first date and beyond – zero creativeness. Dinner and a movie- texting to ask someone out- do you think we get in a boring rut when it comes to dating?

A lot of guys tell me they don’t put a whole lot of extra effort in making an impression unless the woman has that special “something” about them. So if a woman wants creative dates, she has to show and prove a lot before a guy decides her worthy of that effort? Is that fair?

When was the last time you had a really creative date planned? What is the best creative date you have?

uh oh. things are slowing down. what’s up? so here’s a funny (to me) story. I know a dude. he’s married with small kids. like a lot of dudes that are married with small kids he tries the old tactic of not going straight home from work. his thing is he goes to the gym after work and by the time he gets home dinner is cooked and the kids are on their way down. he gets away with this for X amount of time but recently he and the missus were having an adult moment and he apparently finished too soon. he told her he was just tired. she came back with “all that working out at the gym and this is all the strength, endurance and stamina you’ve got”. he says he never imagined she would attack him with his own game. I thought it was hilarious.

disco – I never heard that a dude that frequents the gym prolongs his stamina…maybe endurance but no effect as far as when he ‘arrives’.

I just have to say that I’m so disgusted with Lance Armstrong. I have to admit that I am recording the Oprah interview. It’s just a shame that someone could do what he did. So may people looked up to him and were inspired by him and he’s just a fraud.

abc – I was just having that same convo yesterday when folks around the office were talking about snow. I always roll my eyes because of the hysteria, as you said, grows out of mere mention of ‘wintery weather’. I want to say GET A GRIP!!!

Leggs – Mentioning ‘fininshing too soon’ and ‘pudding’ just gave me the :???: face

SH – And why do folks always go for milk and bread anyway. If i’m snowed in, i sure as hell don’t just want to be eating milk and bread lol We need to be buying some chicken, soup, beer, wine, goose, rice, eggs, bacon, sausage, beef etc…fugg just milk and bread.

disco – If you were working in the office with me, i’d be rolling my eyes at you every time you moved those loud as bangles. ijs lol We had a chick who worked here VERY BRIEFLY but she wore a thousand bracelets. And the bad thing about it, she wore them on the same arm she uses to work the mouse. So just imagine that sound scrapping, banging, hitting the desk every damn time she moved her arm to move the mouse.

disco ~ I wear my silver bangles all the time and I too love the sound of whenever I raise or lower my hand. Sometimes I walk the halls jingling them on purpose. I’ve had these bangles since I was 17. I had about 20, but now only have 4 left.

Ok, seem like SlimNu would try and trip me as I walk by her office/cubicle.

Morning All!

Happy Birthday Kimmie! Enjoy!
Disco- your story was funny. Slim- ditto re finishing too soon and pudding.
I doubt we will have snow in the Atlanta area. I will be at work tomorrow.
Bluz- Exactly! If the power goes out, the milk will spoil. Not to mention, how long do you think you will be snowed in? I have seen folks with their carts full of water, bread and milk. If I had to go food shopping anyway, I would make a run to the store, otherwise, make do with what’s in the pantry.

Bluz – Well if the power goes out, then it’ll be an issue if you have an electric stove. Back in 94ish, we had a big snow storm and my house was the only one (out of our friends and relatives) that had a gas stove. We a whole fried chicken dinner lol And we were able to heat the living area with the oven open at night ;-) Now if you DON’T have a gas stove but you have a small grill, better light that sucka up and have grilled french toast

I’ve got some wooden and metal ones that even get on my nerves. bracelets are my thing. I always have on earrings and bracelets. don’t do necklaces much.

slim – re the voodoo doll. ouch..

I’m wondering if when I go to the store today the milk shelf will be empty!

2 years ago, when we were iced in for several days, I was glad that I lived about half a mile from Kroger. The Ex and I didn’t really take it seriously…we had some food, but then ran out of tasty stuff, so we walked to the store. Also, we would walk to the store just out of boredom and I liked to be out in the snow!

Celisea – No harm in wanting it to snow…what i’m referring to the craziness that ensues at the mere mention of a flake, flurry, black ice etc when you know doggone well it ain’t gonna happen. It’s one thing if it’s been confirmed that we will have some substantial inches/feet of snow. But folks love to go all crazy for no reason. Then when the morning comes and there isn’t any snow on the ground, you would’ve went into panic mode for no reason.

Leggs – I may not trip you up but i’ll probably just make TWO voodoo dolls as opposed to just one lol

S/H – when we did get snowed in, I owned a Mustang at the time. There was no way I was going to attempt to drive that on snow and ice!!! Wouldn’t have even made it out of the parking lot. The Ex had an old BMW that was a 5 speed, so when I did have to get back to work, he took me and picked me up since there was still snow and ice on many roads…

I’m supposed to be going to this Black Ski Weekend in Tennessee tomorrow. Some of my closest Dogs are flying in this afternoon from the MIA. They already got housing and ground transportation. All I got to do is get in the car. The responsible and righteous thing to do would be to bring my a$$ to work tomorrow and hang out with my family this MLK weekend (that’s the angel on one shoulder). Me and these wild Ques, out of town, without our wives, surrounded by chocolate snow bunnies, and a lot of cognac …..whew, inevitable debauchery! (That’s the devil on the other shoulder). I still haven’t decided.
Ironically, I read this passage during my morning meditation. “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.”
