Lee ~ I still don’t know (lol). The husband on the show said something to the effect of cat fish helping a weaker fish survive. Cat fish makes you stay on your toes (alert). Scams online, that’s the bottom line.

Lee – Catfish: The TV Show is an American reality-based docudrama television series airing on MTV about the truths and lies of online dating. The show is based on the 2010 film Catfish and is hosted by Nev Schulman. It premiered on November 12, 2012

I think Kim Khardashian paved the way and gave a whole new meaning to 15 minutes of fame. She made folks think, no matter how low i go, I can make something out of acting like a damn fool, having sex on camera or redneckinizing to start some money-making career…or at least for a little while (easy route).

Lee – A “catfish” is a person who creates fake profiles online and pretends to be someone they are not by using someone else’s pictures and information. These “catfish” use social media sites like Facebook and Twitter, usually with the intention of getting other people or a person to fall in love with them.

Leggs, online scams are just updated versions of old scams, IE: I need to get some money out of my country send me your banking information = I found a bag of money and if you give me yours in good fate we can split it. New twist same ole scam

I’m amazed that I am still amazed at how many folks actually watch all this reality stuff. lol. my friends are always saying “it’s like so and so” and I’m like “who is so and so” and so and so is always some reality tv person.

I’m totally hooked on the Catfish show. The last one I watched was a girl who fell in love with what she thought was a man and he ended up being a transgender. Amazingly, they actually worked out and remained in a relationship! I think that’s the only success story they’ve shown so far.

I cannot understand how these people will “fall in love” with someone they’ve never met in person. There is no way I would put my heart out there like that. There are way too many scammers…

pet peeve – folks who lick their fingers and rifle through pages on the printer. I don’t care if I don’t see it but don’t do it in front of me and then want to hand me the papers that you spit on. just plain nasty.

Reality TV depicts the sad state of American culture and society. Every one of them is about some freak show of a person, or group of people. I suppose people watch just as they’d slow down and rubberneck a car wreck. Seems to me the ones that watch them are probably freak shows themselves — I mean, how about a book, or a nice game of backgammon, chess, gin? Really, there must be better things to do than watch the junk that’s on TV, isn’t there? I swear, I really don’t know why I continue to pay for cable, that in itself is pretty stupid on my own part.

Only person I’ve actually met in real life is Pheadra and that was years ago at my son’s school career day program. We hit if off quite well, we found out we lived right around the corner from each other, she gave me her business card but I never called her. oh well it’s good to know she’s doing well.

Actually, the Reality TV appeal might be something similar to Facebook: both exhibitionism on behalf of those that crave the attention, and voyeurism on behalf of those that look at it.

“Let’s share ideas on new and fun ways to connect with single people.”

In ATL a man must be lazy, gay or on the down-low to pay his money to an on-line dating site. There are too many beautiful women with jobs, houses and cars who are financially secure looking for a good straight, working man. That is a fact.

The best places are free places to meet men and women. For example my New Year’s resolution is to eat right and excercise. Rather than go to a fast food joint I will go to the grocery store (Publix). I have met some great women shopping for fruit and vegetables. I hope to met some of you on this blog soon at the grocery store (Leggs, SlimNu, Button, etc.) lol. Working out can be fun too and you can meet some nice folks.

You imply that I’m somehow insecure because I think that American attention span and cultural maturity is lacking? Ha. Watch Hoarders, buy a Kanye song, whatever. I manage to be entertained in other ways. Psy? Call Me Maybe? Just say no, unless you’re 13, in which case, just say no.

Here’s something I find remarkable though: in spite of how dumb Americans (and the world for that matter) seem to be now, in 1950 the average IQ was 25 points lower. I guess Uncle Milty wasn’t exactly high brow entertainment either.

Single and Happy

ABC not implying, I’m saying it. For what ever reason you chose not to do something is your reason, and your only, just because you can find a few that agree with you still doesn’t make it so. Like you said you CHOOSE to be entertained in other ways, why does that make everyone else’s choices wrong?
