They decided to part ways because he wanted children and she did not. I love how they are honest enough with one another about the kind of life they really want. They basically can now release each other to go find the right person for them. Do you think you would be able to do that?
I am wondering how they managed to stay in a long-term relationship for five years without being clear on having kids. When you are dating and things are new, do you bring up the topic of babies? Guys can easily get spooked if a woman so much as mentions her ovaries!
Most women I know who want children are not overly eager to talk about children too soon. What is the appropriate time to talk about having children? What do you do if you don’t want the same thing?

Disco, if you want to be married, which maybe she didn’t in the beginning, moving in is a mistake, unless you getting married next week. Most of the time they live together for years, and even if they eventually get married, it doesn’t last as long as when they were living together. Just like with children, if you know what you want and they’re not willing to give it to you, move along.

Exiled – Form the way I understand Leggs story, they were already broken up and she had moved out of HIS house. He lost the house, and can back to her with his tail between his legs.
If I had been stupid enough to let him drag me along for 11 years, I would accept all the “blame”. They good & grown, and a person can only do to you what you allow. She been stupid all that time, so what’s more stupid gonna matter? It’s her life. Just glad it’s not me!
What would disgust me at this point is that this dude has such little pride in himself or respect for me that he would come dragging to me after he lost his house. It would turn my stomach that I even entertained wanting to marry such a sorry sack of ish. Cause personally if the shoe was on the other foot, I would literally live on the street before I went dragging back to him. Some might call me a proud fool, but so be it.

Ex, people go for years making up excuses for why they can’t do something. “we can’t get married because we trying to save up some money, we can’t have kids because we saving for a house,” doing all this while living under the same roof!

kimmie ~ you read the story correctly. To top it off, she found out he has a small convenience store he’s trying to get up and running, but didn’t pay the mortgage. Once the electricity and gas was turned off at the house, he asked if he could stay with her. Me, he would live in the store he’s trying to get off the ground since apparently there’s lights and heat there! Not being vindictive at all. I don’t see what she sees in him, but we like who we like.

There’s a huge difference being desperate for help due to no fault of your own, but to f…up things so badly due to your own bad decisions is another thing.
Personally, I was glad she was able to get her own apartment and has her own money!

Single – You right about all the excuses folk make. I know of people who have been seperated for years claim they have not gotten a divorce because they can’t afford it. Yet, every time you look up they have new cars, houses, take trips, etc.

I get sick of chicks taking in men. lol. not that men taking in women is necessarily better but the double standard is that I don’t mind men taking care of women nearly as much as I mind women taking care of men.

I understand ur pride, that wld be understandable, but u have the option to seek help if u wnted to.
I would feel the same way because i thrive on being Independent.
I am just surprised that “declining to marry someone” however the circumstances, wld incite someone to forgo doing “Good’.
GOOD is not GOOD if it comes with conditions.
I support this lady in keeping her ex, albeit temporarily, as long as she not pining that he stil gon change his mind. That wld be hopeless.
