Do women prefer to be dominated?

I once heard a woman say that dating a man that allows her to walk all over him can be a major turn off. While she wants a nice guy, she does not want a doormat. She prefers a man that can exert some dominance over her and won’t let her get away with anything.

I can see her point when she refers to not dating a doormat, but wanting a man to dominate you seems like a slippery slope. What kind of boundaries would you want to have? How do you know when the man’s dominance goes beyond a “healthy” dominance and gets eerily close to the scary kind?

I am not referring to the sexy Christian Grey/Anastasia kind of arrangement, here. (I am sorry for making a Fifty Shades of Gray reference, forgive me?) I am talking about having an adult relationship with one dominating partner – the man, having most of the power in a relationship.

Ladies, do you think that you prefer some degree of dominance over you? Would you get bored by a man that “let’s you walk all over him?”

Men – in your experience, do you get a favorable response when you exert your masculine energy in a relationship?

Let’s just say this, aside from the kid’s dad, I’ve only date quiet natured gentile dudes….always. It’s what seem to connect with me. I’m fine with that, but just know that’s nothing to do with a no nonsense dude……which is my preference. No nonsense, yet sensitive and kind, possessing much backbone. Moisy, weepy, overly sensitive JUST IRKS THE HECK OUT OF ME!!!! That will get you X’ed with the quickness…..for real. So, dominating I don’t know so much, but manly and ALWAYS taking/carrying the lead? YEP YEP YEP…..all relationship long.

Alright. I’m working a half day and I’m off for vacay! :) I asked my dude why he didn’t say something and y’all would trip over his little smirky remark. That’s okay….lol….he’s gon need

Morning!

This topic here….Here is the way I see it. If you want to be dominated by your man then let him dominate. You cant say “Oh, I want I dominate man, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH” then turn around not like it when he dominates. Make up your mind.

Total domination over a woman is sissyfied to me, anyone dominating a weaker person no matter the gender is trying to hide their own weaknesses. Some women don’t do well without being controlled, some know how to push back. Nah I don’t need woman I have to tell when to sit down or be quite, just give me the same respect I give her.

Let’s turn this around- men like dumb and ignorant bimbos who are so stupid that the men can order them around, use them up then throw them away!

Sound sexist? Well, ladies, that is your problem. You want men to be less dominating and controlling, yet you still demand it of your partners and sons.

I’ll tell you what. Figure out what the hell you want from men, and then someday let us all know.

BTW, most women don’t really want men to be dominate. They only want them to take all the responsibility. No authority, just obligations. Jeez!

A man not letting a woman get away with anything is no different than a woman not letting a man get away with anything. Any mature person doesn’t want to dominate their partner, because it’s their character that they adore. Keeping each other in line is a healthy relationship.

It seems most of the examples used out here for topics of discussion are that of people with behavioral problems.

Good morning, to me domineering is when the guy take charge of the relationship -the head huncho. Nothing wrong with that in my book, he should lead as long as it’s going in the right direction. Some men are wimps when it comes to relating. They will say yes to everything just to appease the women and that’s not attractive in my book. Give me a man who’s yes is yes and his no is no and I’m good.

I am a strong woman who lives alone and doesn’t mind it. However, I do seek advice often from friends and family and because my physical condition is a bit compromised I have to ask for help doing certain things that I cannot manage. I feel more comfortable with a take charge type, who has complete self confidence without rubbing my nose in it. I do not appreciate a man who is overly dominate in that I have to report every move I make and where I’ve been, and why it took me so long to call. That is smothering in my book. No thanks.

I would luv to be abused in bed…totally dominated and thrown about and ordered to do stuff..as long as im sticking it guuuud eventually….

The only time I will let a man dominate me is in the bedroom. There is no dominating me. A relationship is about equal partnership. No one should dominate the other.

As far as a doormat…can’t do that either. My ex fiance was a doormat and it got old. The Young One seems to be a doormat and that is a huge turn off for me. I want someone who will challenge me…not let me walk all over him.

As long as he’s in and out of jail, she’ll be in and out and between dudes….IMO Seems like that’s the kind of woman he’s got. There are plenty women that will run around on their men with the quickness. Especially if it’s a setup where she’ll NEVER be caught (i.e. him being incarcerated). Mmeello – Yes, it says submit as the husband is the head….as Christ is the head of the church. We can all identify with having a man and knowing him or wanting him to take his rightful place…THE LEAD/HEAD. Well, most of us women do, not all. Even so, nowhere in the bible does it indicate abuse or to misuse the role of the lead or be selective in certain areas, thus pushing the role to her….in some instances. That, IMO (of course), is the biggest way for a man to lose his woman’s respect…IJS Keeping in mind, the woman too was given as the man’s helpmeet/mate so, yes there are roles and both can’t lead and submission is a must if a relationship is going to thrive, but all done with reason and lovingly. Again, not using the “lead” as an advantage or misuse and abuse. And as the woman should be subject or submit to the man, the man should honor his wife.

God’s glory is man
Man’s glory is woman
Woman’s glory is her hair

Ex, if you’re going to put it out there, put all of it out there

Ephesians 5:22-33
New International Version (NIV)
22 Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.

25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her 26 to make her holy, cleansing[a] her by the washing with water through the word, 27 and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. 28 In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29 After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church— 30 for we are members of his body. 31 “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.”[b] 32 This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church. 33 However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.

Leggs, disco, who’s supposed to the the compensating? the person who lied or the court system that convicted them based on the evidence they had? DNA has done a lot to help curb that, but back in the day, most of the time all you had was eye witness testimony.

Also in this day and age, we’re quick to condemn someone before all the evidence is presented. You’re guilty until proven innocent, and then you just got away with it!

S/H – seems like you should at the very least be able to beat up the person/people who lied without any new charges. lol. in many of the cases the state/prosecution tampered with evidence for various reasons. maybe they wanted to believe the victim or eyewitness and they tried to make the evidence match the story. you’ll hear a lot about critical evidence being buried. this makes it really easy to find the state at fault. a lot of times, too, the police and prosecution have to keep their numbers up.

My type of “man” ain’t for you if I have to:

- Check you. You grown know when to shut up and you know when to speak up.
- Pay all the bills while you use your money on shoes. Again, I don’t need a chick that acts like a child and needs to be taken care of.
- Believes that relationships are 50/50. Ain’t nothing on this planet is 100% so 50/50 is fuggin impossible.

I’ve also joked that when I meet the man that tells me to shut up/hush/be quiet and I do it, well then I’ll know I’ve met my match. generally shut up or be quiet can border on fighting words.

Exiled – I know you were talking to Disco, but I want to comment on your 1:34. Like I said the other day and have said before, most folks today lack FINESE! You can get pretty much anything you want if you know how to go about it. A man that commands respect without intimidation and belittling is a real leader. So even before we married, if my hubs wanted me to cook something for him I would be happy to oblige. He didn’t have to kiss my butt, nor did he bark out orders to me. He might say “hey babe, I sure do love that spaghetti you make. You think you might be up to making me some of that this Saturday?”

Work ain’t honest but it pays the bills
What we gonna do when they come for you?

Now, me and baby got this situation
See brotha got this complex occupation
And it ain’t that he don’t have education
‘Cause I was right there at his graduation
Now, I ain’t sayin’ that this life don’t work
But it’s me and baby that he hurts
‘Cause I tell him right
He thinks I’m wrong
But I love him strong
He gave me the life that I came to live
Gave me the song that I came to give

In a recent posting on PrisonTalk.com, a Web site where nearly 50,000 members seek and share comfort and advice about their relationships with inmates, McDonald asked, “How many men marry women in prison? And more to my case, how many marry women they met after incarceration? I’ve not encountered any others so far.”

@Leggs & Single – “Men Locked-up”

There are men who prey on women when they are locked up in prison and leave them when they return to society. They will write letters and make phone calls while in prison to beg for money or just to past the time away.

Second, prison will test a man. If he is weak he will be treated like a “woman” and perform the same services that women perform on the streets (sex, washing clothes, etc.). Too many men who are gay or bisexual are released from prison and return home to women who do not know what they have been exposed to. Beware of prison relationships.

Exiled- About accepting those collect calls:

Tom Joyner had Jesse Jackson on talking about how much phone companies charge prisoners for those calls in some states. It’s only like 2 phone companies that are contracted to prisons so they have a monopoly. I think GA is one that charges $15 a minute or something crazy like that and there were states that charged even more. Jesse said they were being ripped off and it should be looked into, but I don’t feel sorry for them. Just another price to pay for getting yourself in trouble. We have more important pressing problems for people on the outside that are doing the right thing!

kimmie — I agree, except that we do need to look at why we have so many more people locked up, per capita, than anywhere else in the world (ahem, war on drugs, ahem). The majority of folks in jail (even those who are truly guilty of the “crimes” with which they’re charged) don’t need to be locked up. But prisons are a huge industry, built primarily on what amounts to slave labor, so they’re not going to give up those “resources” without a fight.

Well, once you’ve been to prison, it’s definitely easier to go back than to go straight on the outside — we’ve made sure of that. But prison life here isn’t any easier than other western countries, and yet they don’t have the same huge prison populations we have. My general rule of thumb on any issue is follow the money. Want to know why we have the laws we do, that produce the large number of non-violent “felons” that we have? Just look for who benefits from such a system. And how they spend their lobbying $$.

Not that I smoke it (wish I liked it), but it’s not right that so many people go to prison over pot. The hard drugs? Now, that’s where it gets tricky. I wouldn’t want to see those legalized, but what you do in your own home should be your own business. I felt bad on that account for one of my sons, but the past few years, he’s taken it to heart and now tailors his behavior such that he doesn’t commit crimes, thus does not get arrested.

On topic, I have a somewhat dominant personality and so will function as the Alpha in pretty much any scenario. As that applies to my relationship, sweetie asserts herself when she deems necessary and I pay close attention, but my word is still the last word.
