Casual dating vs Committed Relationship?

Before you go on a holiday dating spree, perhaps it is worthwhile to figure out what your short-term and long-term goals are. When you approach your dating life, having some sense of what you truly want is a good way to get the results that you want. I know what, you’re saying..that’s a no-brainer, Diva! Well, you would be surprised at the number of single people walking around with nary a clue of what they want.

Generally, you meet people who either want to keep things casual or those who want to ultimately move towards a committed relationship. The casual dating folks will say things like, “I just want to kick-it with somebody cool, and see where things go” Or one of my favorites: “I like just going with the flow.” Keep in mind, these are the same people that will try to have sex with no strings attached.

People who want committed relationships are fine with taking things slow. They feel comfortable with the idea of making room in their lives for somebody special. They don’t stress about giving up freedom or allowing someone to them for who they are.

I believe that casual dating has it’s place and those who want it should clearly state that intention upfront. There is nothing wrong with casual dating if that is what you want. The trick is figuring out when you should be casually dating people and when you are ready to build a relationship with someone.

How do you know when to keep it light, fun and easy with casual dating? When do you know that it is time to take it to another level?

What do you do when you are ready to leave casual and go committed? If the person/people you are seeing don’t want the same thing, what do you do?

Dani~ You’re a day late with that one. My daughter just got an “early present from Santa” and we are now the owners of Kobe the Wonder Cat. (Can’t you read the joy in my words?!?)

MsAtl~ Girl, go ahead out and eat! We went to the 1818 Club last year for Thanksgiving and it was awesome! My family stopped doing the home thing about 3 years ago (No one wanted to do all the cleanup) This year we are with the hubs fam so I have to make mac & cheese but we’re going to her house.

Bluz- I have never owned a cat before. I already have an 11 year old cocker spaniel. I told my mom I will buy some food and feed him/her to I find a home. I have a coworker who has 2 cats and just had to put one down. She is in Europe but when she gets back I’m hoping she will say yes.

Comon- It got so bad that I bought my son a birthday cake one year & he was not pleased! I had always made their cakes. I bought the ex a birthday cake one year & he refused to eat it. This is my baby’s last Thanksgiving at home; college in January, so I figured I would make at least a small meal. I’m thinking a roasted chicken, ox tails, mac & cheese, greens, sweet potatoes & store bought desserts.

MsA~ Where do you buy your oxtails? If you are ever in the Gwinnett area, I would highly recommend the Gwinett Internation Farmers Market. They have one of the best selections at the lowest prices. I found them about a year ago (when the price of oxtails sky rocketed!) and I have been going there ever since.

I am making pancakes, bacon, eggs, hashbrowns and fruit salad in the morning before the kids go with their dad. My oldest daughter requested sparkling juice since this is a holiday breakfast.

MsA~ They were around $1.79 per pound last time I was there (about 2 months ago) Their prices don’t tend to fluctuate that much from there. I think the most I ever paid there was $2.29 per pound.

MsAtl – I did see that. I may do a drive by at 8 tomorrow night, just to see what the line looks like. I’m not one to stand in line too long. Last year, I stood in line at Target for 2 hours for a TV and a Christmas tree…I missed the TV by about 5 people!

Plus…I may want to go out tomorrow night. The blues jam I like to attend is still happening!

Uh-oh Slim. Dani has been sprung from work & I am out in 20 minutes.
I used to go Black Friday shopping. We would leave the kids at home with the men and we would go out around 4 am. By that time, we had already scouted the ads and knew what we were buying and where we were going. We stayed away from the malls. Always worked out well. I haven’t gone in a few years since it has gotten out of control. I think the clincher for me was seeing two grown women fighting over a Care Bear and a $5 mixer. Not to mention, how many tvs could one possibly need?
The major thing I need this year is a laptop for my son who is headed to college in January, but I can probably find one online.
