Love and Politics
Imagine how awkward a date can be when you realize you have polar opposite views on politics. It happens a lot more than you would think. A reader emailed about being hugely disappointed that her new beau has staunch conservative views. She is concerned that it is something that can’t really be reconciled in a relationship. She wonders if she should even try.
Do you think that in order for a relationship to have a shot at lasting, you have to have the exact same outlook on politics?
Have you ever dated someone who had vastly different political opinions than your own? How did you make it work?
Election night was probably the best night to meet someone with shared political views or interests. Did you meet anyone fascinating while you were waiting on election results?
How important is it to have aligned political beliefs? Would you consider it a deal breaker?

I’m just happy because I know some folks up in here are walking around with hurt feelings and I wish I could get up in their face and holler “obama beeyotches”. lol. I’ve had two customers come in to do banking business with me and both brought up the election. I don’t even know them like that. Each had different thoughts. All I said is “I’m glad it’s all over…now, how can I help you?” I don’t think my office is the place to discuss it, whether I agree with you or not…

disco – Me too. I don’t do too much discussing or hooping and hollering. As with everything else in life, I just want what I want when I feel it’s right for me…point blank. My choice in president included. I too, am basking a bit cause I know folks are hating it and that other side was pulling out all the stop to block, but that only caused this side to effectly do the same thing…but just better
But naw, it really ain’t that deep. Like someone posted this morning, as long as I know God takes care of me and sees me through, it wouldn’t matter much who’s in office because HE’S going to take care of me…as he promised he would.

Cel/Disco – These folk in my office are quiet today, but some have been downright offensive over the last 4 years. I’ve just kept my cool.
How about today though, I approached the manager for my sister team about one of her employees covering today for one of mine that is out sick. She said “sure but I don’t know what time she’s getting in today. She said if Obama wins, she would probably be up crying all night and may be in late! I looked at her like she had 2 heads and said “well whenever she gets in, have her do the work please” and I walked off!!

Bluz~ Realistically, pretty much anyone over the age of 21 is pretty set in their political ways and know who they are voting for IF thery are voting. I don’t think that anyone has ever changed their political affiliation based on someone’s FB posts. Just like I don’t think anyone has ever converted their religion because of someone’s political posts.
