My friend Allen is dating a young lady who he really likes a lot. He believes she could be the one…in a couple of years. Allen says his girlfriend has a little growing up to do. Her lack of maturity is shown when she doesn’t get her way, or handles things with little patience.
As he talked, I thought about how he was the same guy friend that advised me not to date a guy for “potential” but accept him as he is. Now, here we were having the same exact discussion ..and switched places. I asked him what he asked me, “What if she never changes? Could you still be with her?”
Although they are only three years apart in age, when you see Allen with his girlfriend, you can’t help but notice the stark difference in their maturity levels. Ah, but love is blind, right? He does not see what I see, just as I had to learn my lesson for myself.
Would you be willing to wait till someone “grew up” and behaved less like an adolescent? Is that one of those things that should be a dating red flag?
How can you tell if the person you are dating are compatible to your maturity level?

Sassy — Oh no, all of this was long before she was preggers. She’s actually been much easier to live with while pregnant, to be honest.

@Leggs: I agree with you. I saw a documentary where they used a special chemical and a blue light to show where the water particles landed. All over the vanity, the faucet, TOOTHBRUSH, soap…. Blech.

ITL in this documentary was the lid up, or down, was someone sitting on the seat? If you’re talking airborne particle and the seat is not sealed they are still getting out and floating around lid up or down.

disco ~ not taking it to another level. Just speaking the truth. Really…
Single ~ has nothing to do with the “dunk”. It has to do with the power of your water level and flush!

@Stamps: Ummm, Poo Diddy, there are a myriad of bacteria in your stomach and intestines. E.coli is probably among them. Don’t you remember the E.Coli outbreak at White Water? Came from babies poop getting into the water (from leaky diapers, etc.)

Here you go, Stamps:
Escherichia coli or E. Coli is a common bacterium characteristically found in the human and animal intestine. The bacteria form part of the normal gut flora present in the bowel. There are a number of different types of E. Coli, the majority of which are harmless although a few strains of the bacteria can cause serious food poisoning and infections.

dreams – I’ve been thinking that for a minute but didn’t want to rile the germaphobes. some folks will drive themselves batty worrying about germs when there really ain’t a darned thing you can do about them. fighting germs is almost like fighting the war on drugs. you can’t win.

Single ~ don’t get me wrong, not talking about a surge of water spewing from your bowl. However, if you really paid attention, particulate matter will become airborne with a flush of the toilet.

You’re right ITL and that is what caused the outbreak at White Water. A Braves player’s son was one among the infected and the poor boy almost dies as a result.

@Leggs: Ours at work are like that. I feel like I need to stand back 20 paces before it flushes.
Oh…..and have you ever flushed the toilet on a cruise ship??? I remember the first time I heard it, I was like, “Ummmm, you still in there or do I need to call the Coast Guard???”

@Poo Diddy: I know you’re trying to be funny (emphasis on trying) but if you read the above, it’s certain strains that cause the outbreak. And, like Sassy confirmed, that can be from infected water or from other sources. Like people preparing your food who haven’t washed their hands after going number 2.

Leggs I know , and putting the lid down will make a difference, but it’s still getting out in the air because toilet seats are not sealed the seat and the lid have openings for air to get through, otherwise the toilet wouldn’t flush properly

Not saying it would make a difference, but the convo started not from what’s released while flushing, but how you stop it’s release by sitting during your flush…that’s all.

I missed a lot while working. re- my stash; I grab extra plates & utensils when I see them on sale. I also have my own fridge in my office.
Slim- cracking up at not letting the air out of the bag.
Btw- my family teases me that they have to hold on to their drinks because if they set the cup down to take a breath, I will grab it and wash it.
