Dating: Unlearn bad habits!
There comes a time in every person’s romantic life when you have to stop and take self-inventory. You know those gut check moments when you start to realize that a lot of misadventures, drama, and disappointments all share something in common: YOU.
I know, it’s not sexy or fun, but it is definitely necessary. How many old attitudes and bad dating habits are we clinging to that run off potentially great matches? There is a lot to be said about self-awareness. Many of us lack it!
Some men think they are projecting some alpha male image and it attracts women to them. They may not realize that they go overboard sometimes and can appear cold and distant. Some women believe they have the hot body and great sex to offer and that is enough to get and keep a man (It’s not, by the way).
So maybe it is worthwhile to figure out what dating habits we need to drop. Determine those old attitudes about the opposite sex that are most likely making us bitter about love. Are you guilty of clinging to bad dating habits?
If you meet someone with awful dating behavior, do you take the time to call them on it?

O/T – on Friday, we were talking about getting all glammed up or not. I had to laugh because I talked about how I don’t hardly ever wear make up and don’t care to get dolled up. Well, one of my girl friends went to Smith’s Olde Bar with me and she curled my hair up, made me put on make up, and picked out a cute shirt to wear with my jeans! I just thought it was funny how we were talking about it earlier in the day. I was just going to pull my hair back and wear the same shirt I wore to work! I did look cute…

Off Topic~ I’m thinking about switching firms. I was takling with a friend who is an attorney the other day and as much as I love my drunk/drug clients, I am getting a little bit tired of chasing the almighty dollar as a solo practictioner. She is in HOA/Property disputes and although the money is good, I am not sure I want to go to the corporate envirnoment. What say you, bloggies?

CC – You need to think about what would really make you happy. I have a friend who does civil and criminal cases (I think she ends up with mainly divorces). She likes it, but her initial goal when going to law school was to become an entertainment attorney…I think you should weigh the pros and cons for each…

Common- to your O/T: I haven’t worked in the private sector; only legal aid and government sector. Good thing about being a solo practitioner is that you could go back if you absolutely hate the corporate environment.

As far as the job, IDK what I want to do right now. I love what I do, but I spend a lot of evenings and weekends meeting with clients and I would prefer to spend that time with my hubby/kiddos now. Sadly, I used to LOVE being away from home and my job was my refuge. No I find it tedious to have to be away. I never really saw corporate as the route for me, but stable money and regular hours sure does sound good…

Ms.Atl~ There you are. Do you like legal aid/government work? And is there any money in it? I know I don’t want to go into family law (Blech! Just typing it makes my skin crawl) But I am not sure what direction to move in that I would find as interesting as criminal but with more regular hours.

Common- when I was in legal aid, I did everything except criminal. I wasn’t too crazy about the protective orders and divorces. I am not in government work and although I enjoy it, no, there is no money in it. Although I suppose you could pay off your student loans and get rich if you bought the 99 cent pack of oyster crackers and ate 5 a day to stretch them out along with tap water, lol.

Well, MsAtl, that answers my question on government/legal aid. (Which is what I assumed anyway) I like the flexiblity of being on my own, but it is a lot of hours right now. My friends that went corporate are pretty much cruising. And they have been trying to get me to come over to the dark side for a minute. lol.
