If men ever got a glimpse of our pre-date rituals, they would see all the work that some women put into looking good. It’s shower, shave, hair, outfit preparation…listen, you best believe we are ready to impress!
The irony is that when the men actually see us for the first time, we aren’t all super fabulous! I always joke that society tells us that single chicks don’t get days off. We don’t get to leave the house in sweats and a ponytail because that would mean we’ve given up on finding love! Or something, equally annoying reason women can’t be dressed down. That is when some women get the most attention, though! Explain that?
I don’t know if men notice all the extra trimmings women add on to enhance their beauty. I am not even sure women are only doing it for male attention, either.
If a guy spots someone attractive and she is dressed down, no makeup, looking au naturel, is he disappointed to see all the make up and the glam on date night?
Ladies, are you approached more when you are dressed to the nines or casual and comfortable?
Men, what do you think of makeup, hair, and all the extra things women do to look more attractive? Is there a limit to it? When is it too much?
Happy Friday!

Single – There you go again confusing me….”felling rough?”
Who said anything about June Cleaver? Or did I miss something? You ain’t gotta be a clown to be sexy…right? I, for one, have never worn make-up so why start now? Now as far as sexy, I think each woman has it in her to pull that off. The thing is though, trashy ain’t sexy. And if a dude has only been exposed to trashy, he might not “get it” when sexy knocks him over.

CC- The reason god gave women booty……I mean beauty, is for MEN to admire and enjoy. Like the ocean or the setting of the sun, they are gifts from the most high. I’m just obeying his divine order.

Ladies are beautiful naturally, the enhancements work for some better than others, but how she carries herself is a greater measure of her beauty than anything she can put on.

“It’s shower, shave, hair, outfit preparation…listen, you best believe we are ready to impress!”
I definitely hope the men do the same getting ready for a date. This isn’t to impress, it’s simple hygiene and social skills. Who wants to stink and look unkempt while out on a date.
Speaking of looking or being natural. I was asked out on a date after a water gun fight at a social gathering at a park. He told me that out of all the women screaming don’t shoot me, don’t get my hair and makeup wet, I was one of the few who didn’t seem to care about all that nonsense. He said he liked that about me. Hell, I had a blast (literally). Makeup is cool as long as you don’t apply it looking like a circus clown (sorry Bluz). It doesn’t necessarily hide an insecurity. BUT, if you’re checking your face in the mirror every 15 mins, there is a problem.
There’s a lady in bathroom at work always reapplying her makeup, carrying a huge makeup case. My case consist of eyebrow pencil (a must staple), lip brush and lipstick. Not sure why one needs to reapply foundation throughout the day. That’s too much makeup, and I would think your face would probably tend to crack by day’s end.
Good morning.

Single – I know what you are going for and I know I’m talking extremes. But when I see women and men out in public with “whatever” on, I call that lazy, not confidence. My sisters and brothers, show some pride. PJ’s, house shoes, boxers showing, rusty feet all belong INSIDE the house, not out!!

I actually think the June Cleavers of yesteryear did sexy. I think mostly what’s aired and displayed is trash…but again that’s just me. I was looking at a Fred Astaire movie the other day and Rita Hayworth was his costar. Absolutely stunning. What she wore, is what I call classy and sexy. No T&A hanging out but clothes that fit to a tee. Classy and classically stylish. THAT’S what I call sexy. But of course and again, to each his own.

Morning all,
Count me in with the minimal (very) makeup crowd. I have always been attracted to the as you are type chick. Heavy makeup gives the perception of either you are hiding something or just not comfortable in your own skin. Checking the mirror and constantly touching up is a turn off to me.

kimmie ~ I do not understand how someone can come out the house with rusty feet. It doesn’t take much to apply lotion or Vaseline if needed. Even if one is coming out the house in sweats, be neat and presentable. I do not believe in looking sloppy while out in public.

“Men, what do you think of makeup, hair, and all the extra things women do to look more attractive?”
I hate to see a younger woman dressing like a “slutt” (fake eyelashes, hair weaves, tatoos, etc.). I hate to see a older mature woman dress like an immature younger woman (clothes, hair, etc.).
My preference is for “natural” hair styles and very litle make-up (lipstick, eye shadow, only). I love “sun dresses” that accent the body (leggs, etc.) and leave plenty to the imagination. I love to see a woman who looks, acts and dresses appropriately.

Single – People have to put on clothes. You can’t leave the house nekkid so, yeah you gotta get dressed. In getting dressed you can either go classy, trashy, skimpy, whatever. But just because you ain’t got stuff hanging out everywhere don’t mean you’re not comfortable or fronting. It just means your preference is to wear clothes…lol I don’t look down at folks that do the “hop nekkid” but I don’t want someone calling me “booghie” in return because I don’t. I think you’re projecting the reverse.

Back in June Cleaver’s day, that was sexy and should be sexy today. Being neatly dressed for your man when he returns home from work, house cleaned, food on the stove, etc. No man should come home to rollers in the hair, pjs and slippers at 7 in the evening (unless you’re on some type of STD)

Single – I agree with Kimmie, those were tv characters. Still, I say refined because during that era, that’s the way the majority of women dressed. That was America at that time. So, really what you saw on tv is pretty much what you saw in passing. Refined and graceful

I shole don’t feel like working. The wind has been let out of my sail just a tad. This portfolio I’m getting is messy. I see right now, Imma have to tick some folks off to get it cleaned up. I just got copied on an emial where the chick leaving is trying to “engage” another chick (different role, same portfolio) on something she needs to do and she’s telling her (the chick leaving), to just call the client…sort of on her behalf. Ummm, I don’t do lazy, I don’t do getting pushed over or walked on or used. I see right now, Imma have to whip folks in shape. That means enemies before friends. Sigh

People’s sense of style can be very entertaining. Last weekend my little man had a football game in Jonesboro. The girls and I were on the side line watching. One of the kids from the opposing team caught a pass and scored. The child’s mother and grandmother rush out the stands screaming “That’s my baby!!” They were jumping up down all excited. The mom had on some black lace, see thru, tights with red panties. The grandma didn’t have on a bra, breast flopping from her chin to her waist. They both had on flip flops and their feet…..whew! Oh my goodness. Me and my daughters looked at each other and just bust out laughing.

I said earlier a woman in a corporate pencil (conservative mini skirt)skirt will grab my attention all day long. Executive secrectaries dress the way I like to see women, classy is the best way to go. Some just don’t know that wearing pjs in public won’t catch his eye (lololol).

That was my question Common. I just got my first and only tat last year (mediun-sized starburst on my shoulder) after much thought and it is not trashy in the slightest. When I wore a weave, it was either a short cut or below shoulder length; no blond waist weave. I keep in mind that I have to project a professional image most of the time.
I believe that a woman can be sexy without showing all of her ASSets; it is more the way she carries herself. I can feel and look good in jeans and sweats as well as a suit, but after wearing a suit all day when I go home, I get comfortable (usually shorts & a tee) to walk around the house.

No Comon I can handle tatoo’s to a degree, I told here once I saw this chic at the store had tatoo’s all over her FACE, NECK and arms which is cool for folks that’s into body art. And still I beleive a lot folks get them because they see other people (rappers) with them and they want to copy what they see. Too much of a fad and I’m not into fads.

MsAtl~ I find myself in the same boat as you. Being in Atl, I know you have seen it too; The “attorney” (and I use that term loosely) who shows up in court looking like she hopped off the stripper pole a few hours ago. SMDH… I just really wonder how the heck they left their house in the morning thinking that was a good idea and where in the HEYALL did you go to law school?!? That being said, I am tatted but not in any place that a judge or opposing counsel would ever get to see. My tats are for me; no one else. And I definitely don’t think that they make me “slutty”…

And the tatoo’s this chic was displaying weren’t of the artful kind they were rapper/ganster type tatoos. Still it’s her body and she can put a tatoo in every crevice of it as far as I’m concerned. Who is going to hire somebody with all that going on but to each their own.

I don’t have any tattoos. I don’t see myself ever having any. I can, however, appreciate them on other people though I also think sometimes they go to extremes. a friend of mine has a son who is 24 years old. for the most part the boy has been locked up since he was 14. he made parole about 2 years ago and comes home with tattoos down the entire left side of his face. prison tats at that. I told his mother that I hate to say it but no redemption for that kid. I also know countless folks with name tattoos of former significant others. tragedy. lol.
