I have a friend who has admitted that she is romantically challenged. She has NO idea how to be romantic with her guy. The relationship is new so he has spent most of the time and effort in romancing her. Now she is eager to reciprocate – and if not the same degree of romance, something very close.
So far he has surprised her with tickets to a play, made a picnic for them inside his living room when the weather didn’t cooperate. He even took her car to be cleaned! The man is a keeper, ya’ll! He needs to be pampered and doted on just as much. So what do men consider romantic gestures? (You know the sexy things they enjoy doing before we get naked??)
What are the best ways to romance a man who has been so romantic in his own efforts? Should women feel pressure or obligation to match the same level of romance?
What is the most romantic gesture a woman has ever shown you, guys?
Ladies, do you consider yourselves to be romantic or romantically challenged? Be honest! What is the last romantic thing you did for someone?

@Stamps: You seem very argumentative today. As clarification, when my grandma was still alive and able to drive, there was a station in her small town that still offered full service.
@cz: For realsies???? I never heard WD’s um, you know, mentioned. But if it’s all that, yep, let’s add it.

Light you hit the nail on the head there with compassion. I know everyone don’t feel the same as me but I love all people. Including the one’s I don’t like. I’m the kind if I hurt you a few minutes later I’ll ask if you’re ok. I know it goes both ways I can get hurt too and if I do he was the better man that day.

BF – as a child when we (siblings/cousins) fought amongst each other sometimes we got away with it, sometimes we got in trouble for it. I absolutely hated the hole “kiss and makeup” routine. can I just sit here and be mad for awhile? was that really too much to ask for?

CC – I will say that being stubborn did cost me a lot as a child. I just couldn’t cave in. I missed out on trips to movies, amusement parks. couldn’t go to bday parties. all kinds of stuff just because I was mean and spiteful (my mother’s words, not mine).

disco, my mum’s thing was always telling me i was spiteful. she’d say i would cut off my nose to spite my face. and as a grown woman i freely admit, she was entirely correct. i’d hold a f*cking grudge until i got the chance to nail a mufu good!

and she nicknamed myself and my sister “evil” and “miserable”, respectively.
with her accent it was more like “eeville” and “mizairable”.
all in good fun, but a lot of truth to it.

disco~ For Little Cents’ first halloween, I dressed her up as a cow because she was such a little heifer.
I agree with your mother’s words. However, I do not try to break that in her because I believe that it will serve her well when she is older.
Tere is one specific incident I remember from Kindergarten. When she first started school, chick HATED to give up her afternoons to do homework. So, I came up with this plan to brainstom about it in the morning and write down her little ABC’s so all she would have to do is copy it over to the scool paper in the afternoon thus avoiding the crying and fighting session. She comes home from school and I present her homework paper. She proceeds to cry and whine about copying the information over. In a moment of exasperation, I said to her “I thought we brainstormed tis morning so we wouldn’t have to do this this afternoon!!!” and she stopped crying (I mean, turned it off like a faucet) and looks me in the eye and says in this very adult, flat voice “Well, I guess you didn’t think that through very well, did you Mommie?” It was like someone threw cold water on me.
I always tell people she is either going to be a rocket scientist or a serial killer.

here too, sassy. and i generally progress rather well.
but when the mechanism fails, it fails on a global level.
disco, i do take small comfort in that “miserable” only applied to my sister. lmao!
my eldest sister (there are three of us) is the goody-goody one; the one that folks tend to take advantage of.
all things considered, i’d rather be the evil one, and let you know you only got yay far to push me before i snap.

sassy, disco … has it been your experience that folks don’t believe you when you give them fair warning to NOT get on your bad side?

That’s part of my disclaimer I give early on.
has it been your experience that folks don’t believe you when you give them fair warning to NOT get on your bad side?
Actually no…most times I don’t have to say much. I only give the disclaimer to my current S.O. I’ve been told that I sometimes have this look of “kickassedness” about myself and demeanor so folks get it. But for the ones that refuse to heed…their a$$e$ will get scraped up without a second thought…
