Dating outside your age range?

Ok listen, I just saw a picture of Denzel Washington on the cover of GQ magazine. I have no words. The man is just…well, he is 57! I am going to be perfectly honest and say that I have not been looking at men in that age range – but should I start? First, I should ask: Do men in their late 50s look like Denzel?!

Taking the totally superficial part out of the equation, how does dating outside your age range really work? I am talking about the generational gaps that can lead to awkward conversations, family disapproval, misunderstandings, mismatched libidos…I could go on!

Relationships can be challenging enough to get started. How do you start one with someone who is not in your “normal dating range”?

Have you ever dated someone 10-15 years or more older/younger than you? What advice would you give to a couple with a significant age gap? How do you think it differs from dating someone the same age as you?

“President Obama consistenly said it was NOT a tax, up until SCOTUS ruled it as such”

Well, I agree with you there, he’s wrong on that count. It is a tax, and he knows it, but no politician ever wants to say they’re raising taxes on everybody.

“You are, in essence, forcing the public to purchase something.”

Nobody’s forcing anyone to buy anything. Everyone has a choice to carry insurance or not. The result of choosing to not carry insurance is simply that you will owe more taxes. The same thing happens all the time with other choices. Nobody can force me to buy a house/take on a mortgage. But the result of choosing to not buy a house is that I will owe more in taxes (by missing out on mortgage interest deductions). It’s the same result.

Comon — Oh sweet! (re: Spotify) Nah, not gonna make it to music midtown this weekend. Not even sure who the bands are, actually. Mrs. Swiss isn’t really up for being on her feet for that long at this point… :)

I’m swiss the only time we really take advantage of the MID if you have a high interest rate, if it’s low there really isn’t that much of advantage to it.

Seems weird for Music Midtown to be in Sept…… there used to be some amazing shows. I’ll never forget the year Live closed it out and Dennis Rodman came out on stage. We were all like, “Is that Dennis???? WTH???”

I am going to leave the politics alone for the day. No one’s mind will be changed by a blog (or by the numerous FB posts I have been subjected to! ) I think we have run everyone else off.

ITL~ Did you get my email?

swiss~ I have offered up my clubhouse in the neighborhood if they really want to do a baby shower for Little Suisse Mocha. IDK where you guys are, but I am in East Cobb/Roswell area. We figured that we could make it a meet & greet where you and the Mrs. get some great baby gifts from us.

i think of it as a tax and have all along. US forces us to do things all the time. I thought of the Wheat case the whole time. I know that most legal people consider it a commerce clause thing. I just look at it as a way that the Government found a way into citizens pockets. This is another way that they they did it.

Comon — Hey, I thought we had a nice, stimulating debate. :)

As for the clubhouse/shower — that would be awesome! But you know you all really don’t have to do all that for little old us. That location would be great for us, though — we’re in the John’s Creek/Alpharetta/Roswell Bermuda Triangle.

What’s up, ITL? :)

When there is a significant age difference there is a much higher probability of misinformation being exchanged. I thought I had a relationship going with a younger woman. We dated, and dinner and so on. She was also my personal trainer and a little housework thrown in. She was very attentive and i would give her a little[money] every now and then.
I am not sure how it came about, but all the time i was thinking of her as my trophy girl friend she was thinking of herself as a care giver to the elderly.
