Dating outside your age range?

Ok listen, I just saw a picture of Denzel Washington on the cover of GQ magazine. I have no words. The man is just…well, he is 57! I am going to be perfectly honest and say that I have not been looking at men in that age range – but should I start? First, I should ask: Do men in their late 50s look like Denzel?!

Taking the totally superficial part out of the equation, how does dating outside your age range really work? I am talking about the generational gaps that can lead to awkward conversations, family disapproval, misunderstandings, mismatched libidos…I could go on!

Relationships can be challenging enough to get started. How do you start one with someone who is not in your “normal dating range”?

Have you ever dated someone 10-15 years or more older/younger than you? What advice would you give to a couple with a significant age gap? How do you think it differs from dating someone the same age as you?

CC-

Sometimes I wonder if the people in Congress and/or running for Congress understand the US Constitution. I like Obama at lot because he taught Conlaw. I didn’t believe the change thing because the Constitution makes it tough for one branch to make “change” It has to be agreed upon by Congress or reviewed by the USSC. So, I think most national politicians know that they can’t do it by themselves. They have a written way to say they can’t do it.

Jake – I couldn’t believe it when I read that story, but I’m not surprised about it. Father/daughter dances and mother/son activities have been around forever.

ITL – it was a single mom who brought the issue up and filed the complaint…

Both elements are in play, but life is not fair….In Hschool, my dad couldn’t come to my BBall games because he had to work, so they should have canceled the I guess, it was not fair to me that my patnah’s dad was there and mine wasn’t….Either way, its bullskit!!!

to the school dance issue – and lots of other issues for that matter – I say some folks just need to get some business. their lives must be missing something and they put too much time and energy into creating new BS. not like there isn’t plenty of old BS but folks just want to be starting something.

To quote the article I just read, it is political correctness run amok. I’m gonna go back to high school and sue because I didn’t get to be on homecoming court. I think it was music-discrimination because I was in band. :(

@Jake: I was referring to your “no woman president” policy.

Jake~ I think that there are some women (like the woman who is set to become the CEO of IBM) who are better to able make decisions than some men (like Charlie Sheen). I think that each case has to be taken on a day by day basis and anything less is misogyny.

Jake~ What you’re saying is not different than the attitudes that many whites have towards blacks. They feel that they can’t accept Obama as their President because he is “inferior” or “not as smart” when the reality is absolutely different. “Obama care is a clear case of the trampling of the US Consitution. The SCOTUS can call it whatever they want to, but it IS unconstitutional.”

Comon — But how can it be unconstitutional when it has just gone through the very process prescribed in the constitution to determine the constitutionality of the legislation? Legislation was passed by both chambers of congress, signed into law by the president, challenged in the court system and ultimately ruled constitutional by the Supreme Court. That’s the very definition of constitutional. You may not agree with the policy or with the court’s ruling, but to say it tramples the constitution is demonstrably false.

Trust me. Teaching it and respecting are two different things. The immigration thing in my opinion is him try to create law instead of executing law. He is part of the executive branch. I know that he can do executive orders, but I think that he didn’t use the right procedure in that case. Same for the using the military for Lybia. He is commander in chief but at some point he should have gone back to congress. We know what congress would probably say. So whatever.

There is a cake on the stand here ,that my team has been invited to nible if we feel like it. Some racism here..it was made by a Swiss lady that’s is supposedly ‘very nice’ and does this ‘All the time’(bring stuff for coworkers to partake)

I have been eyeing it coz it looks inviting but I’m apprehensive still…

Now here is the racism(of me,if u don’t get it)

I’m determined to go ask the AA dude from the client side(and not the Swiss dudes next to me,even tho they’re very nice) to go show me who the maker of the cake is…at least give me a pointer on
where she sits.

And here is some stereotyping…if the maker of the cake is fat….I am definately not even trying to eat the cake coz I just figure she not very clean.

I maybe wrong But it is my Belly!

Sorry Sexycool if u Like cakes…I’m adding to ur troubles.

I may not like Obamacare, but I thought that it was legal all along. They just didn’t want to call it tax. Congress tax, welfare powers are pretty broad. I think that Chief Justice Robert argument was correct. Obama and the democrats want to say commerce clause, I didn’t totally by that.

swiss~ SCOTUS actually sidestepped the issue by calling it tax insead of a penalty. It is NOT a tax and you and I both know it. That is why it is unconstitutional.

PG~ I think that is the issue. Because Obama DOES understand the Constitution, he is able to skirt dangerously close to violating it and then double talk to people who DON’T understand it to make it seem like he is not bending the rules. That is a slippery slope.

Jake~ State why it would’nt work for you. Because what you said above about Hilary and pushing the button while in menopause implies that women are so emoitional that they are unable to make rational decisions because it it “their time of the month”. That’s the same thing as saying unable or inferior. Please correct me if I am wrong…

swiss/G~ It is not a tax. The court skirted around the individual mandate consideration in which historically the federal government can not require you to buy something and the commerce clause of the Constitution that says individual states reserve control over interstate commerce

” It is NOT a tax and you and I both know it.”

Comon — It’s written into the tax code. There is no legal penalty for not buying insurance. You can’t be sent to jail. You’ll just owe a little more in taxes if you choose not to have insurance. Sounds like a tax to me. You could just as easily flip it & say everyone who does carry insurance gets a tax credit. Same result.

But again, to my larger point, my opinion on whether it’s constitutional is irrelevant. It has gone through the process set forth in the constitution to determine whether it falls within the bounds of the constitution, and it has been ruled that it does. Therefore, it is, by definition, constitutional, whether you or I agree with it or not.

Comon Cents

President Obama consistenly said it was NOT a tax, up until SCOTUS ruled it as such. You are, in essence, forcing the public to purchase something. This is not like car insurance. I don’t want to buy car insurance? Then I don’t drive. Easy. NO PENALTY. I don’t want to buy health insurance? I get a penalty. I would have been more in favor of it if I got a tax credit for having insurance. Which is typically the was the government works. But you are PUNISHING me if I choose not to carry health insurance.
