Dating: Rejection and big egos

Have you ever been out somewhere, minding your own business, and you get approached – when you really don’t want to be? Things can get kind of awkward but it only gets worse when someone’s massive ego gets bruised and they can’t handle it.

In the last few days, I have heard disturbing stories of people completely losing their cool when they get turned down. It’s like they go from sweet talk to rage speak in sixty seconds! Whatever happened to bowing out gracefully or going away quietly?

Of course, letting someone down should be done in a gentle manner, but why do you think some people don’t just move on? What do you do if things escalate?

What is the best way to say you are not interested in someone?

disco – Now you KNOW that’s gonna be too much work. I can muster up the energy probably to do the steak and potatoes but squash and turnips? Nuh uh. Shole was good though… I think that was probably my first time eating squash an adult. I’ve been swearing it off since I was a kid and the only other time I tasted. I must say it was pretty good.

Lady – lol…I can only do a small slice of that. That a bit too much sweet for me. I like sweets but anything with a “rich” taste, I can only do so much of. Even to Piece of Cake. I can do a slice but imma have to pull back if it’s too much.

S/H~ If you flew Delta, they were made by the Christie Cookie Company. (They also make the Doubletree cookie) Some of the best cookies around. I made italian pie this weekend on Saturday and then I made hot wings and fries on Sunday with a side of ground beef/salsa queso and chips. (Game time food) LOL!

Lady – I hollered at Glory Greens. I used to do those some years ago. I would rinse the water off in the can and put fresh water and let them bad boys simmer over smoked turkey necks….lol If I do greens, I’m going fresh. Nothing wrong with Glory Greens though…lololol

Ribs? I’m not even saying nothing. Grilled to perfection? Oh I can eat for days.

re homecooked meals. anyone know anyone that can’t cook and you wonder about their poor children? lol. I have a friend who is always inviting me to dinner. she always cooks spaghetti. I like spaghetti but she makes the driest, plainest spaghetti I’ve ever had. another time I was hanging out at her house and she was making French fries. I hadn’t had a peel/cut the potato fry in a minute and said I’d have some. some were done and some were hot, raw potatoes. go figure. just this past weekend I sat there and watched her serve her son some runny eggs. don’t know if she meant to cook them that way or not. lol.

C – don’t hate on squash. I went to aldi the other day and bought some squash and zucchini so will be cooking it one day this week. I made barbecued chicken, rice, fried corn, sweet potatoes and tomato/cucumber salad. I was getting my grub on and still working on leftovers.

Find the Doubletree cookie tin. I think thoes are the same one’s they have on Delta. (White choclate, macadamia nuts and ghiradelli choclate chips) Yummy…

S/H~ Lol at the don’t know til you eat someone else’s! Ain’t that the trut! Even worse to go to someone’s house and your momma CAN cook and their momma can’t and then they think you are finicky because you don’t like their food.

C~ Ain’t that the truth! I remember being HS and my parents got new neighbors across the street. They invited us over for dinner & drinks and when we got there they had 5 (yep,5!) Himalayan cats. The cats were all over the counters, she was petting them while cooking, etc. My mom was like “I’m so sorry! We didn’t realize it was a dinner invite and we already ate!” LMAO! We never ate anything that came from their house either (unless it was pre-packaged) You took me back with that!

Lady~ While I agree wholeheartedly, 5 big azz hairy cats?!? And you let them walk on the counter? Where dey do that at? I wasn’t eating NOTHING out of that house. Do they not realize that the cat has been walking in the litter box?!? If you want southern hospitality, you have to show southern hospitality. It is southern hospitality to keep pets outside the kitchen and to wash your hands before touching food (or anything else in the kitchen)… IJS

Why do people lie? I mean seriously why? Or why do people go out of their way to lie? Won’t it take more energy to lie than to say nothing? And lying is not limited to words coming out of your mouth but actions as well.

celisea – re you talking about folks and cleanliness. I have a friend who cleans houses on the side and her house is always a mess. always. I’ve never seen it not needed to be cleaned up. after my last visit I was wondering if housekeepers just didn’t want to keep their own house after keeping someone else’s. I don’t know. (btw, this is the friend whose 5 year old just blurted out that they had roaches. it was all I could do to hold my laugh in).

CC – re cats. I was visiting another friend and she sat her kids at the table to eat. meanwhile the cat was prancing it’s little behind back and forth across the table. the whole pet thing is a big part of why I don’t do office potlucks.

Off Topic~ Y’all just made my mom LOL too. She called me and I told her about the conversation we’re having and reminded her of the people across the street. She said they got divorced. My immediate response was “Maybe they couldn’t agree about where the cats were allowed?”

Leggs – I’m just sitting here pondering a few things and I feel really really sorry for people that live their lives lying or just seem to be delusional about stuff. I mean isn’t it just easier to speak your peace? Hiding, scheming, lying, unnecessary actions. Suxs to be them I guess…lol Po thangs

CC – When in doubt, carry out…lol

Blackfoote – Please my man, do NOT toss the cookies over the food…lol I feel you though. I can get to gagging reeeeal quick and real easily.

I’m still hung up on folks that are habitual, pathological liars. Well, not really. Just wonder what makes them tick….that’s all. No biggie. I don’t want to look too far into, might rub off on me…lololol

disco – That’s just plain nasty. And having bugs? You can sign a contract with Sears or Orkin. If you can’t do that, you can go to the hardware store
