Dating: It’s complicated Live! Atlanta

I had the honor of hosting a really fun event this weekend at the Woodruff Arts Center’s Rich Theater. Yours truly was hostess for the It’s Complicated Live! Tour with matchmaker and TV host, Paul Brunson. Paul has guest blogged on Misadventures in Atlanta and it was great to finally meet him in person.

It was such a fun night! First off, there were a lot of sexy people there, including me (at least I felt sexy!). It was wonderful to see people networking without the pressure of meeting a date. Paul even challenged us with the task of exchanging contact information with at least 3 people before we left. Not necessarily of the opposite sex, either. I accomplished that task…all three were men.

Paul Brunson’s presentation was engaging, informative, entertaining, and I even managed to crack a few laughs with the audience! In a separate part of the evening, I went up for a “demo” on how I approached men. I sort of failed miserably at impressing my target but I was happy to see where I go wrong! (You will be shocked to learn, I overtalked)

One of the things that I took away from the evening (there was loads of good information!) was the importance of attraction. I think we all want to have someone that is attractive. However, when it comes to choosing your MATE, your attraction TO them should be FIRE. Like, without that? It’s probably not going to work.

That point really made me think. Do you agree? Some folks believe that attraction can build over time. I suppose you can argue it from both sides, but I wonder – which notion do you subscribe to? Attraction on fire or build up with a slow burn?

Paul Brunson will release his book soon (October 11!) but for now you can catch him co-hosting every Monday night on LoveTown USA airing on the Oprah Winfrey Network (10:00 pm ET) The show was filmed in Kingsland, GA and the entire town made “love” a top priority for 30 days.

Happy Monday!

I think my chest might burst from swelling with pride this morning, Leggs!

But is it wrong that my first thought was “This boy can’t even remember to brush his teeth half the time! How the HEYALL is he an All American?!?” LMAO!

Good luck with the workout. You will definitely need a vat of water! And lots of Ben-Gay too!

kimmie — How ’bout them DAWGS?!?! Let me just say that Jarvis Jones deserves every piece of puddy that he is undoubtedly getting this week after that performance Saturday night. To all the co-eds over in Athens: give it up, that young man earned it.

tsk, tsk, tsk that would be a reason to give it up and swiss putting out a PSA to all the co-eds in Athens to give it up to this player simply because he played a damn good game. What’s wrong with shaking his hand and telling him he played a good game (lol).

Cosign with Bluz! If I was 20 years younger, I would definitely be trying to give that young man some. IMO, Gurley’s performance was less than spectacular, but he is young. Murray finally pulled his head out of his azz in the second half. Thank gawd! The only other footnote I have on that game is that if your quarterback stands up and takes the hit to get you the ball, you had DAMN sure better catch it! There were way too many missed catches that were VERY catchable in the first half.

I’m certain the benchwarmers will get laid as well. it ties into the topic. the star players are the fire. the benchwarmers are the slow burns. for groupie chicks it doesn’t matter how well they play or how often they play so long as they play.

And one of y’all ladies needs to break off a little sumpin, sumpin, for Richard Samuel for fighting off 3 blockers to make the tackle on that fake punt attempt.

PG~ Glad to see you lurking this morning. I have a question for you. The bowl game is actually a week long event. (Dec 26-January 1) with the game happening on New Year’s Day. Are the parents usually there for the whole week or do they just fly out for the game? Do you think my son will feel slighted if we only come for the game? The bowl committee said it is our choice but they gave no indications as to what the norm is. I only ask because I know you have some experience in that arena.

**There were way too many missed catches that were VERY catchable in the first half.**

I attribute those to nerves. I imagine that the Mr. Richardson’s trash talk and the big hoopla about it being Missouri’s first game in the SEC made both teams play pretty tight during the majority of the first half. Missouri fan’s made atomsphere electric. I could tell that on TV. In addition, SEC in general had little something to prove in both College Station TX and Columbia MO. Big 12 teams always liked to talk smack against the SEC. UGA and UF were basically given an assignment to show that 2 mediocre Big 12 teams were going to be 2 mediocre SEC teams. I actually rooted for both the Gaytors and pups Saturday even though it would have benefitted my fighing chickens greatly. I know plenty of other SEC fans that did that for one day as well.

I do worry about Florida though. I am beginning to think the gig is too much for Muschamp to handle. He is the coach, and he was trashing the Aggie fans on national TV. He needs to grow up and worry about the opposing coaches more than opposing fans. Florida still has talent though.

Richard Samuel deserves Sunshine for Harlem Nights period. Not just for Saturday, either. He has been a complete professional and great teammate. Whatever asked, he has done. He started as a tailback back, then moved to linebacker, then back to tailback back, now more like a fullback with an occasional tailback role. He does his job and hasn’t complained about not getting the opportunity to perfect one position. It kinda reminds me of a recently retired Steeler who played multiple positions when he was in Athens years ago.

Florida has talent, but their game was definitely mediocre on Saturday. That game could have gone either way and IMO the only reason the Aggies lost is that they don’t have enough depth to go the long haul. On te Dawgs side, we won decisively missing 4 starters. I think that once we get them back and start really playing our game and calm down, they will be just fine. The gamecocks didn’t play anyone on Saturday, so we aren’t even going there… BTW, I misspoke last week. My friend GA Mangus is te quarterback coach not the defensive coordinator.

It depends on you and your plans. It really is your preference.

As for your son, he is kept pretty busy. Usually, there are trips to visit local attractions for them as a team. For example, here in the ATL there usually is a team trip to the aquarium or world of coke mixed in with practice and some media things.

Your interaction with him may be limited. That would be determined by the coach and his plans for the team.

I am just going on what I remember from the past about 20 years in the past at that. I don’t if the economy has changed anything. I have heard about the trip here though.

PG~ They have a whole schedule of events set up for the boys that includes practices, autograph signings, visits to attractions, etc. So, you are just confirming my thoughts. I figured we would let him go out and have the week to himself and then come out a day or so before the game and bring him home when it’s over. He probably doesn’t want helicopter mom hovering anyway.

My worry about Florida is that thought that would have an easier time with the Aggies. I saw Florida’s first game and saw how bad it was. But, I figured that finally naming one starting QB would settle them down instead of flipping back and forth with QBs.

Texas A&M’s 2011 coach and starting QB have both been on Hard Knocks for the last month. Tannehill and Sherman playing and coaching respectively. So, Sumerlin is a darn good coach, but he had to work with what was left and I figured that he would need a class or two to get players for his system. However, he seemed to find a jewel with Maizel. Florida still didn’t look much better than the game before.

At least they aren’t dealing with what Arkansas has to deal with. Arkansas lostto Louisian- Monroe and hosting Alabama this week. They paid Louisiana- Monroe the big bucks to come into Arkansas and then let Louisiana Monroe to win.

The Petrino effect…the mess that he leaves behind.

 Hopefully, there are none of either on my plate. I’ll stick to my drunks and dealers, thanks. I once had a case where a client had been shot (but not killed) during a deal gone bad and that was more than enough for me to ever want to deal with.

The Savannah State thing kinda ticked me off. I know that they could use the money.

However, coaches are always talking about the team is a family, blah, blah, blah. If so, what parents sell their kid’s out for money that the kid’s involved probably won’t benefit from in the first place. Future kids will probably get to enjoy new facilities and such.

At least, Michael, Jermaine, Tito, Randy, Janet, and company got to benefit from Joe selling out his kids.

Savannah State and Grambling found themselves in the same boat this weekend, but I guess that the questions you have to ask are: A. Does anyone get better by playing people on the same level as them? The last time I checked, you tend to up your game when you rise to meet the competition. B. If these programs do not compete in games like these, where else are they going to get an almost $800K payday? and C. Every once in a while, you have the “patsy” team decide to show up and school someone (read: DAAAAMMNN! Arkansas got their BUTT handed to them by UL-Monroe)
