If you ever want to know if you had a significant impact on someone’s life, have a little chat with your ex. It could be a harrowing or enlightening experience – or both! We may never fully realize the impression we made on someone, but experiences are meant to teach us things.
What do you think you taught the people you have loved? It could be what they don’t want in their next partner, or what they absolutely would love to have in their future mate.
It is one of great things about dating, the chance to learn about who is ideal for us. Do you think you left a good impression on your dates and people you dated long-term?
Would you be surprised if they told you that you changed them?

Mine was embarrasing, but if there are contributions I may share my story AGAIN.

Dang, even after his long and great career as Geordi La Forge on Star Trek: The Next Generation, LeVar Burton is still pigeon holed as the Reading Rainbow guy…and Kunta Kente. lol

I was at work, watching the coverage. A friend/co-worker’s sister was in NOLA at the time, and we were trying to keep track of her. My friend was trying to persuade her to go to the Superdome with everyone else, but she was reluctant. She and her boyfriend felt they could handle things on their own. Then, the levees broke and we didn’t hear anything for about a day. It was a scary time for us, but horrific for my co-worker and of course, beyond horrific for her sister.

@DM: Awww….I wasn’t trying to pigeon hole Levar. But RR was such a huge part of my childhood, that when I hear his name I think of RR and the glasses he wore on ST: TNG

Leggs – I don’t remember exactly what I was doing when it hit, but I remember watching the news a few days prior. They were interview Mayor Nagin and the gov of LA. I remember one reporter asking the gov, in a very doubtful tone “Are you guys ready for this?” That told the tale right there and I kept replaying that in my mind when I watched the aftermath on the news.
I was working for Home Depot corporate at the time, and they had all the managers assigned shifts in the War Room. They had a big screen tv in there with the Weather Channel on it. We had periodic conference calls with managers on the scene at different stores in the Gulf. The pictures were terrifying they sent over – I mean stores completely covered in water with just a little of the orange roof peeking thru!!

kimmie~ Sorry I got the song stuck in your head again. If it makes you feel better, it is stuck in mine too.
ITL/DM~ I always tink of “What’s your name, boy?!?” When I think of Levar Burton. Definitely not Geordi (even though I am well aware that he played the role) **shrugs** I guess it is what you’re exposed to in the formative years. My mom LOVED “Roots”. She felt like it was an iconic piece of African American History. Even made my brother and I read the book.

CC – when I was a child my grandmother had roots on vhs and we kids felt like it was the end of the world if we got corralled and made to sit and watch roots. we were afraid to go in for water and would just drink out of the hose. now, I have roots on dvd and watch it about once a year.
