Relationships: What is your hurry?

Have you ever met someone you liked a lot and things started going super fast? It’s like your romantic interest went from potential interest to possible soul mate in a matter of days. What happened?!

I think a lot of us get caught up in someone new that we tend to jump over a couple of steps. What is the urgency? Why the need to rush things on the fast track?

I can remember an older woman telling me that you should not make any decision about a man until you have seen him in every season: winter, spring, summer, fall. Yes, apparently men can have different sides to their personality that is specific to a season!

Old wives tale aside, I can understand why seeing a person in different situations can show you a lot about their character. Do you believe that rushing a relationship can allow a person’s true character to be observed?

How do you slow things down without pushing everything off the rails? Would you be offended if the person you were dating wanted to slow things down?

ITL – my imagination isn’t working yet. I’m not generally a fan of back to school tales but I have one that tickled me. a lady was telling me that her 6 year old first grader was excited all summer long about back to school. she loved kindergarten and thought school was the best thing ever. she was all excited shopping for new clothes and supplies and could barely sleep in anticipation of going back to school. how come when the little girl got to school and realized that her first grade teacher and her kindergarten teacher weren’t the same person she had a mini meltdown. when her mom told me that I couldn’t do anything but crack up. what a let down.

ITL – yep. it’s funny and sad. I haven’t run into the mom yet to hear how she’s adjusting.

boysenberry syrup? that one’s new to me. the last time I went to visit my grandparents my grandma had made some homemade muscodine jelly. I brought some home but it’s long gone.

“God willing and the Creek don’t rise” is a reference to te Creek Indians. They were very warlike people, so when someone had to make a journey they used to say they would return safely if it was the Lord’s will and the Creek Indians did not have another uprising against the settlers. (And that’s one to grown on! )

What’s up, blog crew?!

What’s the rush? Now you know we live in an instant gratification society now! Plus, it seems nobody asks “what’s the rush” when it comes to physical intimacy. Personally, I think that’s right up there with something you should take time to develop. But folks have no problem questioning when someone decides early on that they really care for a person deeply and want to give their all. Sometimes you really just “know”. Now I have no problem with taking ones time to really get to know someone. But there is a fine line between taking your time and stringing someone along too.

Go at the pace that’s comfortable for the parties involved.

What’s interesting going on in Blogville today?

disco – That reminds me of a conversation I had with a friend recently. I asked her about a couple she’s close to that I met thru her. She said the husband was in jail! That’s the last thing I expected to hear about this straight-laced guy! Something about a debt he was supposed to pay while on probation years ago that he just stopped paying on.

You think you got problems………..

kimmie~ Did he stop paying his restitution? He was on probation so I assue that it was restitution or fines from the crime he committed and now he has to serve out the balance of his sentence. That always makes me SMDH. You’re already getting off lightly. Why would you screw that up by not meeting the terms of your probation?!

I have to add too. everyone is quick to talk about doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. we talk about bluz’ situations repeating themselves but the whole blog collectively is just as crazy if we are still dishing out advice to the same situations month in and month out. we are instigators and enablers.

I can’t get on the crazy kick. As the Blog Turns makes my day go by faster. And Bluz is definitely a key component to that. I like to think of it like watching any other series on TV; you keep tuning in because the plot line is interesting. Besides which fact, I know some people very much like Bluz in real life. I keep my distance from them in real life because I don’t want their crazy to show up on my doorstep (no offense, Bluz) but on the blog I don’t have to worry about that.

Kind of funny that ya’ll get tired of me, but now want me to dish! LOL!!!

I did NOT go last night. I had a ton to do at home anyways. So…he called while I was in therapy. I didn’t answer (was just talking about him). He then texted “Quit being childish and talk to me.” I had to laugh about it. I just replied that I was in therapy. It’s a good thing I was in therapy because I probably would have gone off on him with that remark! I wasn’t ignoring him…I was BUSY!!! Anyway…he texted later in the evening asking how’s my therapist and my reply was “very smart and insighful.” I wonder if that got him thinking. He has to know he was a big topic in my session!

I’m wondering if he’s confused about what he really wants. I know that I”m questioning what I really want. I think he and I need to have a face to face conversation. I need to talk to him about my feelings about him saying I was being childish and the babysitting comment yesterday. Both of those were so NOT cool. I’m willing to see if we can talk things out and go from there. If we are to only be friends…I’m fine with that, but I need to process it and will need a little time from him. Good thing is that we are both going out of town this weekend…me to the beach and him to the mountains. A little time a part may do some good. When he was in NOLA, he was all about me.

Anyway…I’m sitting back right now and just laying low. I’m not going to reach out today. When I backed off last week, he came running! Not that I’m trying to play games, but I’m trying to really back off so that I don’t feel too hurt.

I like him…I ain’t gonna lie…but I’m no where near falling for him or anything. If it’s not meant to be, I’ll be fine. My ego may be bruised a bit, but I’ll pick it up and KIM!!!
