Relationships: What is your hurry?
Have you ever met someone you liked a lot and things started going super fast? It’s like your romantic interest went from potential interest to possible soul mate in a matter of days. What happened?!
I think a lot of us get caught up in someone new that we tend to jump over a couple of steps. What is the urgency? Why the need to rush things on the fast track?
I can remember an older woman telling me that you should not make any decision about a man until you have seen him in every season: winter, spring, summer, fall. Yes, apparently men can have different sides to their personality that is specific to a season!
Old wives tale aside, I can understand why seeing a person in different situations can show you a lot about their character. Do you believe that rushing a relationship can allow a person’s true character to be observed?
How do you slow things down without pushing everything off the rails? Would you be offended if the person you were dating wanted to slow things down?

I was missing a good breakfast coz my hotel serves free crappy outta the box eggs and bacon and such ugly tasting coffee..

I’m about to start my pursuit (I think), in looking for something else…same company though. My manager is “pushing” me out front for getting more exposure with the execs and stuff. I have a “live meeting” I’m getting ready to host on a document I created from scratch…being the SME. But, believe it or not, I’m a person that likes to be in the background. I mean pay me and all, but I don’t have to be out front with pompoms and tassles and bazookas…nuh uh

I am very easily bored..,maybe a mild ADD
So I’m giving this position 9 to 12 months. After that I want more.

MMeello – I was like that when I first started here, over 15 years ago. Probably because I was itching to move up and came in on the ground floor. I can say, I think because I’m more settled and care nothing about the pomp and circumstance that oozes from their pores…lol I’m ready to go home and cop a squat and relax….for good. But I can’t because I have more than a few more years. But honestly, my attitude has changed a lot. I don’t care about the glam anymore….lol As long as you pay me, I’m goooood…lol

MMeello – When I first started, I use to do no less than a year. But when interviewed the recruiter would ask, sooo why the move. Too, in order to really “learn” thatever LOB I was in, I needed to fully submerge and know it start to finish. Even if something didn’t pertain to my role, I at least needed to know the functionality of all roles and how they intertwined. I will say after about 3 years, I start getting the itch.

Just don’t want to impose my response if you weren’t talking to me…lol A couple of youngins on my floor are constantly scratching and getting in lunches with some of the execs and “higher ups”…from my groups nothing but execs being the next step and I told one of them, y’all can have that. Funny you said what you said…I told him give me a cardboard box to sit on, a radio and my laptop and put me behind a wall where there’s peace and quiet…and it’s all good.

ITL – nothing. things have been very chill on my front. my racist neighbor (ms. there goes the neighborhood) is likely in hiding as I haven’t seen her lately. my son doesn’t visit often so I don’t have to restrict his visits. in fact, he just moved to a new city so at some point I’ve got to go get my visit in. he’s already advised me that it probably shouldn’t be thanksgiving because he got tickets to the ohio state/Michigan game and if I come that weekend I’ll be entertaining myself because he’s going to the game. lol.
