Dating in Atlanta competitive?

I was out hanging in our great city recently and I noticed something about the dating scene, it’s competitive. No really, like pull out all the stops, going way overboard to attract people – competitive. It’s one of those things you sort of always knew about the dating scene here, but until you pay close attention, you don’t see the intricate ways it unfolds.

A lot of people in Atlanta are really big on image (fake?) and the appearance of success. You don’t have to actually be successful, just walk and talk like you are. The problem with focusing on the image and appearance is that you really find out later once the bait and switch happens. All this makes the dating scene competitive, a little challenging, and I think a bit shallow.

What do you think? Have you noticed the competitiveness of single people here? Does it bother you? How can you rise above this kind of thing and meet people who are more authentic and genuine?

Yeah…I’m not feeling the lasagna today, but today is the last day I can eat it before it may go bad. I’m craving some country cooking, but can’t afford to go out to get anyway. Waaaaaahhhhhhh!

Realizing how tight I am this pay period has probably also affected my mood today. I HATE feeling broke. I want to go out Saturday night and will have to see if I can get up some money from somewhere…

Bluz – The kids LOVE ramen noodles! They are one of those absolute last resort things. Funny, the few rare times I’ve made them for the kids, I end up wanting and eating some as well!LOL!!

Now that I think back, I may have briefly dated someone that was bipolar or at least PSTD. He was ex-military special ops, one minute he would call me all nice and sweet and charming. Then the next hour or day he would be a completely different person – mean and nasty. He would call and just start putting me down and making nasty jokes about me! The last time I talked to him I told him just lose my number and I cussed him out. I mean it was straight WEIRD!!

Kimmie imagine being married to a person suffering from both diagnosis~ military families are going through much. just glad the federal government is now finally embracing professional counseling prior and, during, and post…….many folks come to our armed services with heavy pasts socially~

kimmie – that does sound like bipolar without proper management. The guy I was in a relationship with didn’t have the proper meds or insurance. He was long distance, so we would Skype. I could literally see the switch turn. He’d be all like, “baby, I love you and miss you and want to marry you.” Then, 10 minutes later, he would start calling me awful names and would accuse me of a lot of things I never did. It was a roller coaster!!!

I’m telling you it works. If you have lunch and it’s not all that appealing, wait until you’re near starved. That has a way of helping you get to wanting it…eventually…lololol

Cel – I don’t mind some frozen foods, but I get really tired of them really fast!!! When Publix has their Stouffer’s family meals on sale, I stock up because they are good every once in a while. I get tired of leftovers easily too. When I fix something for dinner, I don’t necessarily want to eat it for days in a row, you know?

I’m not even feeling hungry right now and it’s time for me to go to lunch. Maybe I’ll just go chill outside for a while and I can always take a few minutes to eat later if I get hungry…

Bluzy – Why don’t you get a few things and cook (I’m one to talk…I know), rather than frozen foods? You can buy a family pack of chicken/ground beef, etc and break up and freeze separately. When I do grocery shop, I’ll buy sometimes in moderate portions and separate and freeze separated. So, say I fry chicken, I too don’t want to eat it forever, I’ll cook enough for a couple of days. Something along those lines. I’m not one for advising though in the cooking department cause I gotta be feeling some kind of way to get it done. I’ll buy and freeze stuff in a heartbeat, if buy the time I’m home to cook, the feeling of cooking has passed….lol

I still like bean and franks. Well, I like smoked sausage and beans, rather. I don’t think I’ve ever had a taste of Ramen Noodles and I probably won’t. I just already know, I’on like ‘em….lol

Tuna? It’s gotta be one of those “got a taste” thingy going on. Gotta have chips, crackers and pickles (on the side) though. Not often do I want tuna on bread.

Havent had beans and franks since I was a teenager! No can do. Rather, haven’t had the need to do since I look at that as food that was forced upon me to eat back in the day. Matter of fact, I don’t eat anything that was forced upon me anymore.

Jim and Nicks has a sausage and beans plate that is delish. My kid NEVER ate hotdogs growing up, so I didn’t really buy. She didn’t start eating hamburgers until about 14 ish or so. She wouldn’t eat anything from McDonald’s but fries. She moved to the chicken sandwich later years. But as a tot/kid, she would NEVER eat theirs (or anybody else’s) hamburgers. She’s more a chicken and pasta type person.

Cel – I’m not much of a cook, but I do need to learn. I had to laugh when last time I went to the store, I came home and realized I had 7 boxes of cereal!!! That’s the single girl’s kitchen! LOL

So…Magnum and I are going to have dinner tonight. I decided after not hearing from him to be honest and tell him that I’m fighting a deep depression due to the reality of my friend’s death setting in. I’m not in a good place in my head right now, and I wanted to tell him because he is my friend and I wanted him to know where I’m at today. He asked if I was busy tonight and I said that I was only planning to practice my bass, so he asked if we could have dinner to talk about our troubles…he may be going through a lot right now also…

Lady – Okay…there’s another location aside from Smyrna but not exactly sure where it’s located. I will say they’re not tops on my list as it relates to bbq. There are a couple of dishes I’m fond of but it’s not bbq. IMO, the ribs and tips always tastes oven baked, rather than having that grilled taste. I do think though, they have really good baked beans.

I can cook when given a recipe, but I don’t like to. Especially, just for one person. I’ve thought about taking some beginners cooking classes just to get some basics down. I’ve always been lucky to find men who cook for me! :-)

Leggs – a lot of times, I don’t get hungry until about 8:30 or so…at that time, it’s too late to cook, so I’ll eat a bowl of cereal. Also, I sometimes get the munchies on Ambien and have forced myself to eat Special K or something so that I don’t gain a bunch of weight on that pill!

Lady – Really??? Well there’s always a nice crowd at the Smyrna location so apparently your boo is not the only one digging J&Ns. I’m just so funny about bbq. Like Blackfoote mentioned this morning, I want bbq that tastes like you put your foot in it. I don’t want mundane. And if I do sauce, it must be right….so I can dip my bread in it…lol

Cel – I drove one time on Ambien and got super lucky. My ex and I were fighting and he wouldn’t answer his phone. I knew where he was going to be, so I just got up and met him there. He was so angry when he found out I had already taken my pill. He followed me home to make sure I was ok. I did fine, but the next day, I was beating myself up for doing that. That could have ended dangerously…
