Dating: Realitistic expectations
I was listening to my guy friend Paul recently talk about some challenges he faced in dating. He has not been able to meet anyone who meets his standards, which he admits are a little unrealistic.
Paul works as a personal trainer, so he really wants to meet someone who is fit, into healthy living, and wants to help him build his business.
The women he meet are leading busy lives and don’t seem open to the idea of putting their careers on hold to help him with his goals. Is it realistic to expect something like this is dating?
I think a lot of us have an idea of what we want in a mate. We may not admit it but we have a mental checklist of what we consider ideal for us. How realistic are those expectations we have when it comes to dating?
Do you think single people need a reality check about what to expect from dating and relationships?

CZ you can’t go wrong with Bourne Legacy.
Leggs Spike do have a little hate for Tyler but hands down Tyler is making the better movies. I got hype for Malcom X and couldn’t even watch it all. That movie should have been his bread and butter in the film industry but it didn’t happen.

I don’t think that either Leggs. And I find it funny that Spike Lee does considering that is first “breakthrough” movie was “School Daze” which, although it dealt with serious issues, had some poking fun at stereotypes in it too. IMO, having gone to a HBCU (a million years ago) a lot of the stereotypes in the movie were accurate.

Spike Lee’s movies have a lot of deep, social content to them. I think that’s what he may find missing with TPerry’s movies. Now, I can’t get his answer to my thought because he’s no longer taking questions. What to do, what to do?

I think many have a hard time watching Spike’s movies because, even though he’s trying to make some point about society or what have, he tends to do it in such a full force way…it comes as over the top and a bit weird to his audience. IMO anyway

Leggs~ And although there is some truth to the sorority/fraternity stereotypes, I don’t think it is nearly as deep or acrimonius as it was made out to be in the movie.

PR ~ she’s doing very well. We really enjoyed the Olympics and all the track coverage. Unfortunately, she opted not to run her senior year of h.s. She even said out loud that she misses running with the team. She wasn’t committed enough to the sport.

Yeah Ex, I agree, but no woman wants to hide her hand later on, and the husband shouldn’t want her to either.
Spike vs. TPerry
I for one , love Spike’s films….and I agree with his disdain for Perry movies that are pretty much “Coonery”….I would love to see TP show some variety in his film making, do a documentary or something….Here is the typical TP plot, man mistreats woman, for about 45min, she awakens spritiually in the next 25 mins or so, the choir sings, and all is well…TP knows he has found a market to sell to and he is pretty much taking advantage of our support and not even crafting quality films anymore, he knows “we” will support it. Spike on the othe hand, has given us cult classics, that you stop and watch when they are on, that also have a message, in addition to great biopics such as X,…don’t confuse critism with hate. he also has quietly launched the careers of every black star we have, Samuel L, Halle Berry, Denzel, Wesley Snipes, Sanaa lathan, etc…

Jake..if she has to hide the hand coz the ring is ‘terrible’,it’s probably not the only terrible thing going on..proly her choice of man was terrible,or she justdodnt get it.
If the man,for example,has terrible taste in about everything else..his choice if a ring is gon be terrible. If his choice is good but buys a real funky ring ge proly don’t value her that much or their priorities aren’t in sync.

ahh. spike lee. I’m not a fan per se but I do LOVE crooklyn. I know a lot of people can’t stand it but I really like it. part of it is the nostalgia. the whole movie brings back memories.
not a tyler perry fan. will watch his movies. will NOT watch his stage plays.

Hey Purple Olive, what’s shakin??
All I got to say about Sparkle is it better be as good as the original. The original is one of my favorite movies of all time. I loved Irene Cara and Lonette McKee. The dude they had playing Satin Struthers was straight scary. I don’t know if I can see Mike Epps as Satin, so he better bring it. Irene & Phillip Michael Thomas has good chemistry and I loved Dorian Haywood. Never was into Dreamgirls back in the day. Saw the JHud/Beyonce version and don’t need to see it again. It was always overkill for me – And I am telling you I’m not goin… miss me with all that.
