Should you confess indiscretions?
One of our MIA blog readers would like a little advice about what he should do. He and his girlfriend recently had “the talk” and decided to go exclusive. Soon after the talk, he goes on a weekend trip with his boys and has a little inappropriate contact with random girl at bar.
He knows that since they had “the talk” he should own up to his indiscretion. The problem is, his girlfriend broke up with the last guy for a similar offense. Although he believes what he did was “not as bad” the fact that he didn’t actually sleep with someone else means he should keep it to himself.
If you are in an exclusive relationship, would you confess if you did a little dirt on the side? Would it matter the degree of the offense?
If someone you were seeing did something inappropriate with someone else, would you want them to tell you?
What would do if you your new boyfriend/girlfriend had an encounter with someone else, right after you decided to be exclusive?
P.S. For the record, I believe that if you hook up with someone else on vacation/out of the country or state..it’s still cheating. Seriously, don’t ever ask for a pass on something like that.

He needs to keep it to himself. He did cheat, but the only reason he wants to share it is to relieve his guilt. He should live with the guilt and learn from the mistake. If he had slept with the new girl, I think he would need to confess, because it increases the risk of STDs, but since they did not go that far, he just needs to live with the guilt. Poor girl (his girlfriend) – the guy can’t even his commitments this early in the game. Hopefully, he has learned his lesson..

I’ll start off saying, “how about no indiscretions to start with.” You start a new relationship and “nearly” cheat? No such thing as nearly…btw Did you not know your own level of cans versus cannots? I think if you know within your heart of hearts that you love having a variety or that you are not one for resisting temptation, then you probably shouldn’t take the path to exclusivity. Should you tell? Probably not? What will likely happen if you don’t tell? You’ll do it again.

Celisea ~ I stated to say if you can’t handle the tempations around you, only means you’re not ready for an exclusive relationship. All the women walking around are not there for you to sample just because you think they’re pretty, sexy or what have you. Even if the woman gives you an opening, be a man and turn down the offer. That’s what a real man does who respects himself, his woman, and truly wants to work on his relationship.

I guess I can comment now that the coffee is running through my veins! I do not think he should tell her if it was just a kiss (although I still feel that is cheating). BUT…he better not do it again. I’d like to know why he did it in the first place if he had just had “the talk.”
I don’t think I would handle it well if my brand new boyfriend admitted to doing anything with another woman right after the talk. I just don’t see how you could trust someone who does that. This guy has broken trust immediately, whether she knows it or not.

The thing that stick out is being on a trip with his boys. It look as if he want to impress them and not the woman he had the talk with. Now he feels guilt and a need to tell because the boys are not around and he has her exclusively. He do need to use another phrase “my/his boys” sound too high school and you can’t have it all even if it’s there for the taking. I’ld pass on the confession because it’s meaningless, the verdict is guilty of perpetrating “with his boys”.

Telling someone to just end your guilty feelings is not a good enough reason at all…it would really hurt her. I just hope he doesn’t do ANYTHING like this again and that the guilt hurts him enough.
Back when I was 20-21, I cheated on my then fiancee. It was the worst thing I could have ever done. I didn’t love him anymore and was too chicken to just break up with him. He worshipped me. I had thought about coming clean, but knew it would destroy him. It wasn’t worth it to hurt him just so I felt better. I promised to myself that I would never, EVER cheat again. I learned a lesson.
My recent ex had been married in the past and his wife cheated on him with the best man only a few months into the marriage. He said he wished she had never told him. It started a spiral of him cheating on her, resenting her, staying too long, and being broken. They’ve been divorced about 10 years and I know it still bothered him a lot. He would say that he was over it, but would get angry if the subject was brought up. It really messed him up. But, he’s screwed up anyway!!!

If any of you haven’t been to Wolf Creek for an outdoor concert, please go. Acoustics on point, comfortable seating with room for a small table if you like, gravel road parking(uggghh)/grass parking, but no traffic getting out. The exit from the concert was well executed, and I was very appreciative.

Merk Road/Camp Creek Parkway. Very nice and very comfortable. Had a great time. Took the wrong person to attend with me, but still made sure I enjoyed myself. For free tix, I was extremely happy with my tix (Row G, Seat 20). Better than when I won tix to see Mary J at Chastain. I was all the way in the back with the squirrels in the woods. Horrible seats.

Interesting you said “constant complainer” – Good grief, she complained about everything. Sitting there with her lips pursed most of the evening. People behind her dancing a little to close to her head (she’s sitting) and she started cussing. DJ played between intermission (he was JAMMING), she complained because she thought it was too much of a filler. It was, but it was what it is, go with it. Bytching isn’t going to get the artist on the stage any quicker. Got up to use the rest room, but person didn’t move their cooler quick enuf, she bytched about that, she’s a passenger type driver and bytched about all the drivers on the road. I was about to scream. Guy two seats from us showed up 3 hrs late drunk and she complained about “why did he even come if he’s that wasted?” Jonathan Butler came out and guys 3 rows ahead of us stood up and stayed standing. She griped and griped about why wouldn’t they sit back down. Told her it’s their tix and they’re entitled to stand or sit. Some folk don’t care about those around them at outdoor concerts. At one point had to tell her, this is all part of outdoor concert going. Stuff like that.
Hell, I needed to be there with a man just to stroke my shoulders. I was tensing up thinking that! I danced in my aisle by myself. Wobbled, cupid shuffle, etc. by myself why she sat with her arms folded. Oh well. I definitely know who not to bring next time.

Here’s something funny…I texted the guy last night and did not remember it at all until he just replied. I take Ambien to sleep and sometimes text and email and don’t remember. Luckily, I’ve never said anything I shouldn’t. I just don’t know that I did it until the next day. It’s always something relevant.

But, if you screw up and resolve to do better, just shutup and make like it didn’t happen. It isn’t honest, but it spares the other’s feelings. Ambien can make some people do crazy things. With me, I usually just eat a bowl of serious and may try to return emails and texts. It doesn’t always hit me hard like it did last night, but I was overly exhausted and for some reason still couldn’t just drift off. It’s like my body was fighting. I’ve been on Ambien for about 3 years, I think. Never have done anything crazy…

Cel…I can fall asleep on the weekends without it, but I’m a night owl and just stay up until I’m ready to sleep. During the week, if I don’t take it, I will toss and turn and my mind will race. I think part of it is because I get stressed about my boss. I have anxiety issues, so this helps to take the thoughts and worry at night.

I think I may be slightly dependant on it. If I had to stop it, I’d be afraid that I would go back to having insomnia. I don’t take it on the weekends to give my body a break and I’m usually fine. I’ve tried to not take it during the week when I was super exhausted, just to test. I just tossed and turned as was up and down all night! I think my tolerance is a little higher since I’ve taken it for so long…many nights, it still takes 2 hours for it to really kick in.

S&H…yes, it’s been the same doctor. I believe it is supposed to be short term, but for me it turned into long term. I think since I have generalized anxiety disorder, it’s more understood that I might need a sleep aid. Most people take it during short bouts of insomnia. I get more anxious at night and my mind races and then I start to worry about the time and that makes it worse. I’ve tried it all…

He’s been my doctor since I was 8 years old. He knows my life story basically and will give me whatever I need. He says that I know my body. I really don’t want to get off it. It does it’s job. I have a friend who takes it recreationally and I just don’t understand how. I take it at 9:30 every night and usually am asleep by 11:30.

Cel…I know, right? When I know this guy is going to come over, I won’t be taking it. (I need to come up with a nick name for him). With the ex, he lived with me and knew what time I took it every night. It was his fault if he gave a great performance that I don’t remember! I told him that I didn’t want that to happen often because I want to enjoy that!!!

Since you were 8, it’s your business, but you may need to look into getting another doctor. If you’re taking it every night, and can’t go a week without it, you’re hooked. that’s not good for you.

The issues are worse during the week. I think it’s because I know that I have to be asleep by a certian time or the next day will be rough. Also, there are work issues. To be honest…I only take my anti-anxiety medicine in the morning when I get to work to keep me calm throughout the day. Otherwise, I may lash out and lose my job.
On the weekends, I think I don’t have a problem with the anxiety at night because I’m up watching tv, working on things, reading or whatever until I’m at the point of being exhausted. I’ll stay up until 2-4 am on the weekends. I don’t usually take anti-anxiety meds on weekend either, unless I’m dealing with some tough stuff in life.

Okay bluz, I had some morphine once, it was so good, I didn’t even want to have sex, when they told me I couldn’t have anymore I went into a slight withdrawal, and it was only one 1 or 2 shots. I’m say you may want to go to another doctor about the ambien, 3 year is a long time.

I think Bert from Q100 was taking ambien almost every night and has since weened himself off of it. I’m not certain if he’s begun taking something less addictive or not. Maybe a fellow blogger may know. I can’t see it being a bad idea to look into some other alternative Bluz

ITL…I don’t think I could handle that! There are times that when I go to Wal-mart, I have to get on the phone with someone just to distract me from all the people and the anxiety!
I remember after the break up, I had a minor panic attack at the grocery store. I hate grocery shopping and he either went with me or did it himself for 2 years…it was hard getting back into it, but I’ve learned to cope and have no problems anymore.

Wal-Mart is enough to give anyone a panic attack. There are times I pay more just to avoid going there.
Have you tried any alternative methods, like Melatonin or Valerian? I’ve heard good things about those. On the other hand, if it ain’t broke….

I think I told yall about the time I was going through a rough time. I was at work and decided I just needed to get out of the office so I went to lunch. I was praying in the car for patience. Next thing you know, I get stuck behind the train. It kept going forward then backing up, forward then backing up. Of course this did not help ease my already growing frustration. Next thing I know I just start laughing to myself like, ha ha ha…Ask and you shall receive. I guess I just didn’t expect Him to challenge me with patience that fast.

ITL – Since you’ve been seeing the same doctor since age 8, do you think it may be time to get a different perspective on the issues you have? How many ways can he say the same thing or you talk about the same thing? Just a thought, but really wondering how therapy works from such a young age into adulthood with the same doctor.

@Slim: Weren’t you recently in Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg? I might be going in October. A group of us that used to be together every weekend but don’t get to see each other much anymore are thinking about doing a weekend there.

ITL – I have not tried Scramble but I heard that it’s better or more fun than Words…I was in TN last October for our yearly trip. We’ve actually postponed this years trip because too much other stuff is going on. Plus we usually reserve the same 3 cabins in a cul de sac and they all weren’t available for the time we usually go. I’m a bit bummed but it’lll be ok i suppose.

Scramble is more fast-paced, so if you like that, then it’s more fun. Plus, it only has 3 rounds, so games take less time.
I hope we get this all worked out so that we can go. I think a couple of folks are camping, but I’m thinking cabin/cottage. Sleeping on the ground is not as kind to my body as it used to be. LOL Plus, not to be a total cheez-ball, but I heard something about going to Dollywood. I’m IN!!

Draw Something is like Pictionary for your phone/tablet. You are given three words, and have to choose one to draw and your opponent has to guess. You both get tokens for every round that is guessed correctly. The more tokens you have, the more colors you can “buy” to draw with.

I started to teach myself to play in high school, but my brother loaned his bass to a friend and it got stolen. I was just starting to get decent when that happened. I think I’ll pick it up fairly easy. The hardest part is learning all of the notes and chords! Show me a song and I can learn it, but I need to learn the essentials…

I know just about all of the musicians who play at Northside…
I don’t read music yet. That’s one regret I have…I learned to play percussion in middle school. At least I can read beats, but I wish I had learned to play a horn so I could read the notes.
